I am having the exact same problem. I am using QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020. I can print out Forms 1096 and 1099-MISC, but when I try to print out Forms 1099-NEC, there is no preview or printing. It briefly flashes a spinning circle but then nothing else happens.

Hi @Amyfuels ,
If you're getting to the Missing Font screen, you're all set. Just go ahead and click through that message and you should be able to print. You may need to do some aligning to get the forms to print between the lines. I had to adjust my 1099-NEC up 8 Vertical and adjust back to zero to print the 1096. Even with those adjustments, the top 1099-NEC form still prints the Company Name (sender) on top of the header for that box, but it shouldn't interfere with the mailing or reading of the form.
When doing the aligning, I recommend using the Printer Setup... under the File menu. Select the 1099s/1096 Form Name to align and select the Align button. Make your adjustments, but do NOT click the Print Sample or Preview buttons. Just go back to your Print/e-file 1099 forms window and print 3 1099s on blank paper, hold it up with a real form to the light to check alignment and then go from there.
Good Luck.
Hello,
I had the same problem with one of our computers (we have 2 businesses & 2 separate computers). Both computers have Windows 10 & QB Desktop 2021 and Computer 1 printed both the 1096 & 1099s just fine, but Computer 2 would only print the 1096. I ran the QB Tool Hub, did updates and tried everything mentioned in forums but nothing worked. I finally decided to uninstalled Adobe Acrobat DC and reinstalled it. IT WORKED!!!! I hope this helps.
I had the same issue. Follow the steps to print and 1099 MISC. When youget to the mapping page make sure the venders you wnat to receive NEC's and not mapped. Now redo the process except this time select print 1099 NEC. Tne mapping should not be grayed out and you can map them.
I dont think the suggestions from the QuickBooks Team will be helpful. They keep throwing the same solution at the problem without fixing it. I like the Idea of uninstalling Adobe and reinstallingit. I would love to know if that works for you.
Same issues here. I was able to get the update and move from 2 up to 3 up. Now nothing prints for 1099's. I can print checks, reports and all other forms...just not the 1099's. Running Windows 10. Unbelievably frustrating that we can only buy 3 up and now nothing prints and 1099's have to be done by hand. And when you call Intuit, they want to sell my support for $350 in order to help.
I had a problem printing 1099-NEC as well. I was able to print 1099-MISC. The rep I had at Quickbooks was able to isolate and solve the problem. She had me run a back up of my QB file, then:
Click HELP
Click Update QB Desktop
Click Update Now folder (not the blue box)
Click Reset Update box
Click Get Updates
I then had to close QB and re-open it.
I am now busily printing 1099-NEC for each of my clients.
That's great news @lrcharmon13.
Thanks so much for taking the time to share the steps that worked for you.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions or if there is anything else we can help with.

I am having the same issues but only from my laptop. I can print the forms from my desk top computer with no problem. So weird!
I tried this and I still can not print my 1099's

I did not see this covered. I have finally been able to print the NEC 1099's, 3 per page. The problem is when you put them in the 1099 envelope the city, state zip code is too low and cannot be read. For some reason QB inserts a space between the name, street and city. This extra space is resulting in the city not being readable. You can try and pull the 1099 up after trimming but then you can see the tax ID's.
Anyone having this problem? This is happening in the 2019 and 2021 versions of quickbooks.
Help, January 31 is coming fast.
Hi @Robert GC ,
I had this problem as well. I had to adjust the vertical alignment on the NEC forms, Up by 8. Then in order to print the 1096 properly I had to re-adjust it back to zero.
Good Luck.
Thank you VERY much!!! This WORKED! I am now able to print Form 1099-NEC's on QBDT 2021. Before this I could not preview or print them. I could preview and print 1099-MISC but not 1099-NEC. Thanks again!!!
I am still uanble to print 3 1099-NECs to a page after updating QB desktop. This is only happening in QB 20. When will this be resolved? Deadlines are approaching...

Has the issue of 1099 NEC only printing 2 per page and not 3 been resolved? I am still unable to print 3 per page. I’ve followed all the update instructions with no luck.
I was on the phone with them three times; none of their solutions worked. The last call I had I was told to update to QB Desktop 2022 and all issues would be fixed. REALLY, you're going to blackmail us into upgrading or the program won't work. I give up, totally disgusted with QB.
