Buy now & saveThe "Connect to Square" app stopped importing transactions from Square to Quickbooks Online after March 18, 2025. There are no apparent ways to force an import or to troubleshoot the connection or the app. Is anyone else having issues with the Square app and connection being broken?
Try opening your QBO account on any private/incognito browser.
I've compiled some troubleshooting steps that will help you import your transactions from the Square app to QuickBooks Online (QBO), Chris. Let me outline them for you below.
First, verify and ensure the connectivity between your Square app and QBO is active.
However, if the issue persists even after verifying the status, it could be due to excess data buildup, which could also affect the platform's performance. To address this, as Chrea mentioned, kindly open your QBO account using a private browser.
Here's how:
If the transactions import successfully in the private session, revert to your regular browser and clear its cache and cookies. This will help QBO reestablish its full functionality. If the issue continues, consider switching to another supported browser.
On the other hand, if it still doesn't work you can also consider disconnecting and reconnecting your Square app to QBO. This can help refresh the connection and resolve any configuration issue that could have arisen during the integration process.
Lastly, I'll provide articles that can help you in managing your transactions in QBO:

I've tried multiple browsers and still do not see any recently imported transactions from Square. It seems strange to me to suggest that the browser I'm using would affect whether Quickbooks Online and Square are talking to each other successfully behind the scenes to bring in transactions. Are you saying that transactions can only be successfully imported right at the moment when the browser is viewing the transaction list and not suffering from whatever "excess data buildup" is? The lack of any kind of logging or debugging tools for this makes it additionally confusing.

@ChrisHardie The following topic covers QBO's issue with cache build-up pretty well:
I contacted support, spent over 2 hours on the phone with them, and they agree that it's a QBO bug of some kind that needs investigation/fixing. No timeline for a resolution.
The free connector is not reliable. You should consider using a paid connector.
The free connector has worked for us mostly without issue for years. It would be a shame to have to pay for an alternative. That said, is there one you recommend?
