If you're using QuickBooks Desktop, and you're moving your QuickBooks to a new computer, you'll need to create a backup copy and restore it after the installation process. Then, you can now start installing QuickBooks.
Here's how:
For full details about this process, refer to this article: Install QuickBooks Desktop.
However, if you're using QuickBooks Online, you can simply open a browser to your new computer, then log in to your QuickBooks account.
Let me know if you have any concerns with QuickBooks. I'll be around to help you out.
I already did everything you said but when it comes to bringing all my info over to this computer it isn't.
Are you using QB Online or QB Desktop?
Hello, sealingpro85.
Lets go ahead and run some troubleshooting steps. If you're using QuickBooks Desktop, we can utilize the Verify and Rebuild Data tool that helps identify and repairs data issues within your company file.
To start, use the verify tool to scan your company file for errors or damage:
If you see the message “Your data has failed the integrity check”, rebuild your company file. If there are no problems with your data, you’re done.
To rebuild your data:
For more details about the Verify/Rebuild process, check this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.
However, If you're using QBO, let's open your QuickBooks Online account in an incognito or private browser. This mode will not save your browsing history and will also help isolate any web issues.
Here are the keyboard shortcuts:
If it works fine, you can go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Clearing cache fixes certain problems, like loading or formatting issues on sites. It also helps pages to load faster. Please make sure to restart your browser afterwards.
You can also use a different supported browser as an alternate solution.

I'm following the instructions on my old PC but when I move the flash drive to the new laptop and try to enter the one-time password it says I'm using the wrong password. Done it twice now, copying files twice.
Hi there, CFurg.
Let's make sure you're able to log into your QuickBooks Desktop account on the new computer. You can try to enter the old password since the system won't recognize the recent one.
If it doesn't work, you can download the Automated password tool for QuickBooks Desktop. This will help reset your QuickBooks Admin password. Please take note that the version of QuickBooks you last opened your company file with must be installed on your computer to be able to reset your password. Then, follow the steps below:
For more details about the whole process when using the tool, please check out this article: Use the Automated Password Reset Tool for QuickBooks Desktop.
If you use QuickBooks Desktop as a single user (you don't host your company files on a network), there's an easy way to move everything. Follow these steps to use the Migrator Tool.
If you're still unable to get it, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Live Team. They can check your account and provide additional information so you'll get the correct password.
Let me know if there's anything else you need by commenting below. I'll stay around until your able to move your file to the new computer.

If you purchased a digital version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) from our website, the product information is in the original purchase confirmation email. If you bought it from a store, look for this label next to the UPC Code on the original packing.
In the event that you're unable to locate your product or license numbers, use the License Look Up tool to retrieve the information. From there, enter the email address or phone number used when purchasing QuickBooks.
When you have the information, follow the instructions in this article to restore your login credentials: Reset your password for QuickBooks Desktop. After that, install the desktop program on the new computer.

Do you have any backup files?
The computer I need to switch the program from is frozen. I cannot open it. How can I switch the program to my new computer without accessing the old computer?
How can I transfer my Quickbooks software from my old computer to my new computer if the old computer is frozen?
I appreciate you raising your concern here in this thread, @Bud 69.
I have here some insights to share about your concern. You have the option to switch your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) program to a new computer without accessing the old one by downloading the purchased product through the QuickBooks installer. Let me guide you through the steps on how:
However, if you don't know your product key and license number, I recommend logging in to your CAMPs account to help you download your product and conveniently find your license number. Or you can use the License Look-Up Tool to retrieve the information.
Moreover, I'll also share this article that can serve as your reference to find out what your computer needs for the best experience in QBDT: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2023.
I'm looking forward to getting this sorted out. Feel free to leave a reply if you have additional QuickBooks-related queries. The Community team always has your back. Have a good one.
Can you access CAMPS as the Primary Contact and find your license code there?
Old computer broke so trying to install QB on new machine just like I did for Quicken for personal finances. System says my Product Code is no good, but a system email to me confirms that it is correct Product ID on the most recent license when I purchased disks for Desktop Pro 2019? Also message states that I am already using QB, but that machine is broken, so no longer usable. Please reply to [email address removed] or [email address removed]
Thank you!
Hello there! The Community is always looking forward to the success of your business with QuickBooks. Thanks for sharing your concern with us, Bill.
Your attempts to debug the installation of your QBDT on a different computer are greatly appreciated. I am aware of the time-consuming aspect of program issues. Since your current computer is broken, I advise contacting our Support department to obtain a validation code that will allow you to install the software on another machine.
Moreover, the software QuickBooks Desktop year 2020 and below was already discontinued. Thus, you won't have access to QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, Desktop Payments, live technical support, Online Backup, Online Banking, and other services through your QuickBooks Desktop 2019. For more details, visit this article: QuickBooks Desktop 2020 service discontinuation policy.
I've also included these resources to help you manage your QuickBooks Desktop moving forward:

Hello and thanks for your reply! I know 2020 has been discontinued, I have been paying online to continue using updated versions since I purchased the disks for 2019 version 4 years ago. The automated system sent me 4 different account numbers and Product ID's going back more years but the numbers from the 2019 were the most recent but system denied the product code. I am a basic small user just managing a few rental properties so don't need any of the online or enhanced features, just basic QB. I back up my file on a thumb drive every month after reconciling, and that is working just fine. I guess I will have to phone the helpline when they are open on Monday to get a code to install on new computer. Thanks again for your reply! Bill Foster
Can you access CAMPS as the Primary Contact and find your license code there?
I was able to find four different license codes and product ID's going back over all the years since I began using QB for business bookeeping. The most recent was the same as printed on the disk package I purchased for Desktop Pro 2019, but system denied that product code saying not valid. I have been updating online, and paying as required since then, but will have to call them tomorrow when they are open and get a new code.
I got a new computer. I want to install the quick book software that i bought before, but I forgot the license code and product #. How can I find them. Please help me to get them. Thanks.
Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, Join23. I've got steps on how you can find the license code and product number so you can completely install the QuickBooks Desktop on your new computer.
As mentioned above, your product information is in the original purchase confirmation email. This is done if you purchase a digital version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) from our website. However, if you bought the program from a retail store, look for this label on the original packaging next to the UPC Code.
Then, if you registered your product, you can always get your info online. You can visit your account management portal (CAMPS) to get your product and license number.
In case you're unable to locate your license number or didn’t register your product, use the License Look Up tool to retrieve the information.
If you can't find the information after following the steps above, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support Team. They have the tools to access your account and look at the product information of your purchased QuickBooks Desktop and other related products.
After you get the details that you need, you may open this article to see steps on how to install, activate, and update the program: Install QuickBooks Desktop.
Fill me in if you need further help managing your QBDT. I'll be happy to lend a helping hand, Join23. Stay safe!
