Need advice on passing QBO advanced certification exam

I could not pass the section 7 on the first 3 attempts.  Exam locked.  60 days later, my 4th and 5th attempts on section 7 failed again.  I only have one more attempt left before the exam locks again.  The problem is that I can't figure out what is wrong with my answer choices.  I have reviewed the module more than 4 times and attended the boot camp and reviewed the video 3 times.  I copied and saved all the questions on Word.  I still can't figure out what is wrong.  The feedback on the exam does not help.  On my first attempt, it only gave me two lists of what I need to review.  However, from 2rd to 5th attempts, it gave me 5 to 6 lists of things that I need to review.   This is after I changed the answer choices that I thought that it might have been wrong.

Can someone please shed some light on?

FYI:  Passed all the other sections.  I am not a genius, but I am a good test taker.

Need advice on passing QBO advanced certification exam

I just spent the better part of 5 days taking the test. Failed about half of it. After 3 attempts I'm now locked out for 60 days THE TEST IS WAY TOO HARD! I'm very well versed in QBO. I've used it every day for years. The exam is tricky, there are questions that aren't on the training materials, plus there are math questions. The training materials are useless. It's not the CPA exam. They shouldn't deliberately obfuscate the education. They wonder why QBO is not taking off and only a tiny percent of user become Advanced Pro Advisors. I'm frustrated and angry.

I failed twice a total of six attempts. Yes, the training materials and boot camp events are nearly useless because the answer that you are looking for is not in the training material. Also, Copying questions and answers for the next attempt does not help much either because you don't know what questions were wrong or right. Exam feedbacks make it worse because you might change the correct answer choices.

Sometimes the answer choices make me wonder whether it was a typo. It feels like for whatever the reason, the system does not want me to pass the exam.

Sorry, I could not help you, but I feel your anger.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. I heard only 2-3% of QBO users are advanced certified. That's a ridiculously low certification rate. At least half the people who take the bar or CPA exam pass. And a word will be spelled one way in the training materials and another way in the test. Which tells me another team designed the questions (probably outsourced). The exam needs a thorough going over by a professional editor. (Numbers should be spelled out, words not hyphenated in the training materials should not be hyphenated in the exam!). Of course, the moderators, (or should I say bots) on this site are equally useless with their copy and paste responses.

The

This test is silly. There are even parts of it that are blatantly incorrect and I did notify support when I came across a particular question to which they agreed that it is a bogus question and supposedly will remove it, but what about the other questions. How do I know I actually was incorrect? Or is it a system flaw? And what about this question... Does this make sense to any one? Am I not catching on to something? I use QBOA every day, none of this is new to me, but the questions are so obscure. What are 2 relevant settings related to Projects? (Select all that apply) Track inventory quantity on hand Show Items table on expense and purchase forms Track expenses and items by customer Create multiple partial invoices from a single estimate Track billable expenses and items as income in multiple accounts

Trust me, I contacted support MANY times during this process. It's just a shame that the learning materials are so weak and that the test is such a mess.

I too have contacted support but they haven't been helpful.  I'm looking for any guidance on additional study aids for the one section 8, Period End Activities, that stands in the way of my certification.  The online training doesn't have material included that are on the exam.  I think that I am answering them correctly based on my experience but still fail.  I'm not asking for someone to give me the answers but it would like a resource to study that can help.  Does anyone have a suggestion for additional resources to help with that section?

Hi @JamieNSC,

You can find several resources in the Training & Certification page for QuickBooks ProAdvisor. Let me share them with you.

To start with, here's the list of resources you can find as your reference for your certification exam:

Lastly, you can always QuickBooks Accountant Help Hub if in case you need some tips and related articles for future reference.

As always, you can leave a comment below or start a new thread if you have any other concerns. I'll be keeping an eye for your response.

Thank you. I found a Webinar, QuickBooks Online Advanced Certification Exam Prep Training: Part 3,at the training events link that you provided.  I'm watching the recorded Webinar and the instructor said that participants received a supplemental handout to complement the Webinar. How/where do I get that?

Let me help where you can receive the supplemental handout, @JamieNSC.

It's nice to hear that you've found the webinar for the Advanced Certification. As long as you've signed up as a participant for the exam prep training, you should be able to receive the supplemental handout through your email.

If you've registered, your information will be submitted to the webinar organizer and will use it to communicate with you regarding the event and other services. However, if you haven't, I'd suggest reaching out to our Proadvisor Support for a request to received the handouts.

That's it. You can get back to me if you have additional questions about the webinar. I'm always here to help.

I hope you can help me- I just contacted support who told me "I'm sorry, but we don't have the option to view on what part of the exam you did wrong".

I cannot figure out which questions I answered incorrectly on the Advanced Reports exam.  I have been through the material and have support for each response that I chose.  Help!!

Need advice on passing QBO advanced certification exam

The exam is very difficult. I am not a new user, nor am I a bad test taker. However, the materials and the module review questions do not in any way resemble the exam questions. There is no way to look up answers, and without a supplemental guide, there is no way to remember the multitudes of information provided in the materials. It is unreasonable to expect me to remember which of 20 things QBO will convert and which it won't. That is why the supplemental guide is so necessary.

It also serves as a way to go back and review things that come up with clients.

I am hopeful that Intuit will see fit to actually improve the training. As it stands, it is nearly impossible to pass because the materials don't teach to the level of the exam. Intuit needs to fix this.

Need advice on passing QBO advanced certification exam

Hello @MaryGraceS

I do have a question about the advanced certification. I worked so hard to take the Advanced certification exam but I still did not pass section 5, (Multicurrency), so I'm locked out for 60 days!!! I was very sad. It made me cry! Though it's quite a tough exam, I didn't expect not to pass on the last attempt. I'm going to retry after 60 days but my question is, after the 60-day lock out, do I retake just the section failed or all 10 sections again?

I got some articles for you that you can check out on our video tutorials and a few FAQs about the ProAdvisor certification

This is discouraging, to say the least.

I am studying hard for the exam, but see where many others have said that there are questions that don't pertain to anything you learn from the training webinar or the other training they offer online.

What else do you do to learn everything if they don't include it in the training?

Also, IMO, the multiple choice questions are ridiculous. I think you should be asked to do something, and then do it in QBO.  Not ask a question & expect you to know the answer. there are multiple ways to do things in QBO, and if you can get to where you need to be and enter the transaction (s), that should be good.  They can't expect you to memorize everything.  It may take a minute to find where you need to be, or to find what they are asking about. Again, JMO.

Hello, AnnEllis.

Welcome to the Community.

I understand that QuickBooks Online Advanced Certification isn't easy. Rest assured, you'll be able to surpass it once you've learn everything in due time.

You need to go through the PDF that accompanied the file and also the videos of the webinar. I'd suggest leaving the PDF open on another screen then refer back to them when you need it at most during the exam.

I also recommend taking a screenshot of your answers as you take the test. Through this, you can refer back to those you've already answered and changed those incorrect answers after your lockout period.

Thus, upon being well versed in QuickBooks Online and keep updated with the latest features and product updates. Rest assured, you'll be able to pass the Advanced Certification on your next examination.

Meanwhile, you can check this article for more insights about QuickBooks Online Advanced Certification:

I wish you and your business continued success. Don't hesitate to write again if you have other questions or concern. I'm always here to help.

I did all this, and STILL failed three times.

The questions have no relevance to the training materials.

I saved screenshots, looked up all the questions for the answers.

Kept track of everything and still failed.

I would like to know the pass/fail rate.

I'll bet it's less than 10%.

THE TEST IS WAY TOO HARD!

We appreciate your time for sharing your sentiments here in the Community, @truleigh.

Every section of the exam requires an 80% score to pass, and you can only take up to three attempts to pass the whole exam. The good thing is you can still try to take the certification exam after 60 days.

You can contact our ProAdvisor Support or QuickBooks Accountant customers to assist you further. They have the tools to help you review your answers on the Advanced Certification.

Keep me posted if you have additional questions. I'll be around to help.

That's not a correct answer.  One only needs to retake the sections that were not passed the prior time.

That's not a correct answer.  When you retake the exam, you don't retake all sections, just the one you didn't pass.

So I passed all the sections but one...missed the same 2 questions apparently according to the "brush up on these" crap. I also double checked EVERY SINGLE ANSWER in the self paced materials. Every. Single. One. Section I failed was end activities.

I cant take it again until 5/5. When I do, I only have to take the one failed section?
