Hey there, ohss.

I'm here to help and ensure your subscription is up and working. You may need to refresh or re-validate your service key to synchronize the update.

Here's how:

  1. Click Employees at the top menu bar.
  2. Select My Payroll Service and choose Manage Service Key.
  3. In QuickBooks Service Keys window, click Edit at the bottom.
  4. Hit Next.
  5. Click Finish.
  6. When the Payroll Update message appears, select OK.
  7. Verify the Service Status shows Active and then select OK.

For further information about verifying the payroll service key, please check this article: Enter or Edit Your Payroll Service Key.

For other ways of updating or renewing your subscription, you can always visit these resources:

Keep in touch if you have any other concerns, I'll be around to help. Have a great day!

Renewed subscripton for QB Desktop. Renewal date shows 2021 and rec'd a receipt. Did reset updates and home screen still shows "renew subscription". How do you reset?

Tried refreshing service key.  Status shows as active but when I go into payroll it still shows subscription expired.  When I go to run payroll it says that payment wasn't able to be processed, but all the billing info is correct (and we did receive a receipt) and when I click on reactive everything looks fine. When I exit I am able to run payroll, but status on home screen shows I need to renew subscription. This has happened for a couple of weeks.

Someone else posted this same question and it ended up that she had more than one account.  I think that is the same problem I am having.  I have one account where it shows the payroll subscription and another that has our product information and another that really doesn't have any products associated with it.  Is there away to delete the "empty" account and combine the other two?  She ended up calling customer service. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the response back, @ohss.

Let's make sure that you have the latest QuickBooks Release and Payroll Tax Table.

No worries, I've provided the steps below on how to do this process with ease.

First, let's update your QuickBooks:

  1. Close your company files and QuickBooks.
  2. Open the Windows Start menu.
  3. Search for QuickBooks Desktop. Right-click the icon and select Run as administrator.
  4. While on the No Company Open screen, go to the Help menu and choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  5. Go to the Options tab and pick Mark All.
  6. Hit Save.
  7. Navigate to the Update Now tab and mark the Reset Update checkbox.
  8. Press Get Updates.
  9. When the update finishes, close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop. To install the updates, hit Yes.

  10. When the install finishes, restart your computer.

Now we can update your Payroll Tax Table. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu, then Get Payroll Updates.
  2. Mark the Download Entire Update checkbox.
  3. Choose Download Latest Update. A window appears when the download is complete.

This should do the trick! Let me know if you hit any bumps along the way. I'll be here.

Hi, ohss.

Thank you for following up with us. It looks like updating your license from your end should lead to a solution. When you have a chance, you can sync your license by following a couple of simple steps.

  1. In the top menu bar, click Help.
  2. From the drop-down menu, click Manage My License.
  3. Select from the corresponding menu, select Sync License Data Online.

That will allow your desktop program to sync with our billing system and resolve that error. If you receive any pop-ups saying sync failed, I recommend contacting support so they can  troubleshoot and make sure everything on our end is correct. I'm also here if you have any questions.

Hi,

Did the above and I still have the message to reactivate account even though it shows active. (I am able to run payroll, just need to go in and select verify or remind me later, every time.) Someone else posted this same question and it ended up that she had more than one account.  I think that is the same problem I am having.  I have one account where it shows the payroll subscription and another that has our product information and another that really doesn't have any products associated with it.  Is there away to delete the "empty" account and combine the other two?  Thanks for your help!

I can definitely help you cancel your payroll subscription, @MikeMcD.

There are only a few easy steps to cancel a payroll subscription. But you’ll have to make sure you print necessary payroll reports, complete and process your final payroll.

You also need to pay any outstanding tax deposit first, process, and file any outstanding annual or quarterly forms if you have a payroll service. Please know that after the cancelation, you’re unable to neither modify your entries nor recreate any tax forms.

Here are the steps to cancel:

  1. From the Employees dropdown menu, select My Payroll Service.
  2. Choose Account/Billing Information.
    Capture.PNG
  3. Sign in using your Intuit Account login, then the Account Portal page will open.
  4. Select Cancel Service.
  5. Follow the on-screen steps to cancel your payroll service.

You might want to visit this article that contains complete instructions to move your entries. So whenever you need them, you have a backup copy.

You can also contact our Customer Support team in case you need help in transferring data. They’re able to guide you personally to avoid missing entry.

If you have any other questions surrounding this, please let me know. My door is always open.

Good day, @julie1952.

It's my pleasure to provide the help you need. To do so, I need more information regarding your QuickBooks account.

Can you share what subscription you're trying to renew? Are you using QuickBooks Desktop? What register are you referring to?

Please know any additional details would help us narrow down the issue. Any screenshots added would be much appreciated. I'll be on the lookout for your response.
