Hi,
I am thinking of terminating my agreement with a client. Currently the client is on wholesale billing, billed through me, and I would like the client to be able to continue on wholesale billing with a new accountant (pay the discounted rate - $20+ tax wholesale amount for the life of the subscription. I did not mark up the subscription).
What steps do I take first? If I change the master admin to be the client (which I was going to do anyway), will that allow the client to get the discounted price through another accountant? I have already invited their tax accountant as an accountant user.
Thanks in advance.

Hello there, GG69.
Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I can guide you on how you can transfer your client to another accountant.
To start with, make sure that the client doesn't have payroll, Payroll Tax Online, or Intuit Tax Online. Also, they can keep the same discounted rate as long as the transfer is done within 60 days of being removed.
First, you'll need to transfer the primary admin access back to your client.
Here's how:
1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Manage users.
2. Find your client on the list.
3. Click the dropdown in the Action column and then Make primary admin.
4. Follow the onscreen steps to approve the transfer.
This emails your client a link. Ask them to open the link and accept the primary admin role.
After that, you can remove the client from your wholesale billing plan.
Here's how:
1. Go to Settings ⚙ and then Subscriptions and billing.
2. Select the Your subscriptions tab.
3. Choose the client you want to remove.
4. From the Select actions▼dropdown, select Remove from Wholesale.
Once removed, they have read-only access until they update their billing information.
Lastly, tell the new accountant to take over billing for a client with their own subscription.
Here's how:
1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Subscriptions and billing.
2. Under the Your subscriptions tab, select Add existing clients and follow the instructions on the screen.
This may take about a week to update the price on your statements. If your firm's wholesale billing pricing doesn't change, reach out to our team so we can help.

What if the client does have a QBO payroll subscription along with QBO accounting subscription & they want to transfer billing of both from old accou8ntant to new accountant?
Hello, readycpa.
Thanks for chiming in, and I'm here to give some details about transferring a client with both payroll and accounting subscriptions to a new accountant.
Wholesale discounts are tied to your original account, so we're unable to move clients with both payroll and the accounting subscriptions (without canceling the payroll subscription).
Since we want to preserve your client's data and at the same time, get the full benefits of the wholesale billing, you'll want to contact our support.
They'll pull up your billing details securely and lay down the options to help you and your client transfer the billing to a new accountant.
Here's how to reach them:
I'll add these articles again in case you need some other details when transferring your client to a new accountant:
If you need help getting ready for tax season, you might want to take a look at this article for details about how to prepare your client's accounts: Use Prep for taxes to map and export your clients’ tax info.
Do you need to take care of your clients and their data in your firm? Please let me know the details and I'll work with you to achieve your tasks.
Regarding removing the client from wholesale - the options I see are either:
1. Client actions>Transfer billing to client
2. Subscription actions>Cancel
Would option 1 be appropriate? I do not have "Remove from Wholesale."
Thanks
Thanks for reaching back out with this update, @colleenkg2013.
You're correct here, the first option will transfer the billing back to the client and remove them from your wholesale billing. You should be all set! Let me know if you have any additional questions on this!
Jamespaul,
I am working with another accountant to try and transfer QBO with payroll from my wholesale billing to theirs and QBO support has been unsuccessful in trying to help us. We have had an investigation open for over a month for one client whose payroll has been put on hold as a result, and more clients we need to do the transfer for. How can we reach someone who understands this specific issue?
I know this hasn't been an easy process for you, 520acctg.
Let me make it up to you by making sure this issue gets investigated.
I understand that you've contacted our support team, but I'd recommend reaching out to them again. They have full access to your account and can review the previous case. They can also determine the cause why the transfer isn't successful.
Here's how to contact our support:
You can check out our support hours before proceeding. This way, you'll be assisted on time.
You can also check out these articles that'll help you learn more about transferring your client to another QuickBooks Online Accountant profile:
Additionally, I've included these articles that'll help get ready for tax season: Prep for Taxes to Map and Export your Clients’ Tax Info.
I'm only a few clicks away if you need assistance with your other QuickBooks tasks, 520acctg. It's always my pleasure to help you out again.
I called QB and I was told if I move a client from a wholesale billing to my wholesale billing, the client would loose the wholesale price they currently have. I have aske QB the same questions before. The current wholesale billing holder is retiring. Please provide a contact that actually knows what needs to be done so we can make the transfer. Thank you.
