I have a horror story about QB in recent weeks but I won't go into detail in this post. All I want to do is totally turn off data protect and reinstall it. My app is stuck on "Your session has expired. Sign out from Intuit Data Protect and sign in again." But I can't sign out. When I click on Sign Out I get another dialog box with OK and Cancel radio buttons. Clicking either one just brings me back to the previous screen. This issue has been going on for 5 days and my company file has not been backed up online since January 11th. I need to uninstall just this part of QB (or actually be able to sign out and back in) or update it to the most recent version, which it also can't do as long as it's in this error mode.

Hello SheandL,
I followed all the steps you provided and Intuit Data Protect is turned off. Consequently, my only company file backups are on a local flash drive. I am very reluctant to try to re-activate it because I've spent the better part of two days on chats or on the phone with QB tech support and none of the agents was able to diagnose the cause of the problem or effect a solution, even with GLANCE sessions. It has been elevated to a higher level of support. Something gets hung up in the application. The IDP window says that I need to sign out of the last session but clicking on the sign-out button doesn't do anything. Thus my company file has not been backed up online since January 11th.
I'm not sure if you care to respond to this but if you do, please list steps like you did for turning the IDP off.
Thanks,
rschmidt
I want to turn IDP--totally, completely, permanently. I NEVER want my company data being uploaded to Intuit. This feels like a service that delivers negative value, at least to me. Even when I do all these absurd things, that should not be needed, this virus-like nuisance still shows up as a process running in background. Sheesh...can you please set a switch to disable your so-called Intuit Data Protect self-starting virus.
Totally agree - it's what brought me here. Casting a company's data out to the cloud should be "opt in", not "if you discover our secret, there is a way to opt out if you can find it." Classic Intuit.
