I sold my business and am trying to cancel my Quickbooks Payroll account. Every time I try, I get a message saying "Something's not working. Give us a few minutes and try again. If it still doesn't work, contact us."
After a few days of trying, I spent a day going back and forth with someone from Quickbooks customer service on Twitter via DM, who after many hours said they can't cancel my account either, and redirected me back to a link explaining how to do it online which doesn't work.
How do I actually cancel, other than just closing my bank account, which I am doing anyway?
Hi,hahlefelder.
It's sad to know that you're canceling your QuickBooks Payroll Service. I'm here to guide you on how to cancel your payroll subscription in QuickBooks Desktop.
Here's how:
Once canceled, you’ll receive an email confirming your payroll service has been canceled.
Please take note that after canceling the service, you'll no longer be able to pay any outstanding tax deposits, print payroll reports, and file forms. For more information, please refer to this article: Cancel Your QuickBooks Payroll Subscription.
If you've done the process and still getting the same error message. I'd suggest getting in touch with our Customer Support. They have advance tools to look into your account to have this thoroughly canceled.
Check out our available hours of operation through this article: Support hours and types.
I'm leaving you this handy article in case you'll want to resubscribe your account in the future: How to resubscribe or reactivate QuickBooks Payroll subscription
You can always count on me if you need anything else with managing your account. I'm always here to address them for you. You have a good one.
Thanks for the reply. I've tried the steps you outlined multiple times, to no avail. I communicated with two different customer service agents vis Twitter, who said I need to speak to a different customer service agent. Will the whoever answers the chat be able to do it, or are they going to refer me to someone else?
As mentioned, I am closing the bank account that paid the Quickbooks bill, and one of the customer service agents mentioned that once it gets paid, it gets cancelled, so if chat doesn't work, I'll just let that happen. I'll try again tomorrow via chat, and let you know how that goes.
