American Express QBDT Bank Feed Update

I just upgraded to QB Desktop Pro Plus 2023

American Express QBTD is not in the list of banks to connect to.

Can you help without me having to manually do anything every month to my accounts in order to get the connection to work?

Thank you

American Express QBDT Bank Feed Update

I've come to ensure you'll get the help you need, reastman2011. Let me share information and steps on how to connect with American Express Bank.

We've received notifications that the American Express will become "American Express Card - QBDT" in your QuickBooks Desktop Bank Feeds. You can enter and find this from the banking lists. You'll want to check out this article for more insights: Refresh your connection for Express Web Connect online banking.

You can follow the steps below on how to connect your financial institution to QBDT. Also, I've added a screenshot for reference.

  1. From Banking, go to Bank Feeds.
  2. Select Set up Bank Feeds for an account.
  3. In the Enter your Bank's name field, enter, and select your bank.

To learn more about enrolling and connecting your banking account, you can also connect using the Direct Connect or the Web Connet (.qbo) files. Please visit this reference for additional guidance: Set up or edit bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop.

Additionally, you can add and match bank feed transactions to your account once your banking connection is ready.

For further guidance, I'v added this reference to help you address if you encounter bank connection errors: Fix Web Connect import errors.

We'd be delighted to hear more from you, reastman2011. You're always welcome to reply in this thread if you require additional assistance connecting your financial institution. Have a good one!

American Express QBDT Bank Feed Update

Thank you for attempting to solve my problem.

We have had our AMEX syncing with QB properly for who knows how long. Issue isn't that I do not know how to set up a credit card/bank link, it is that something changed to make ours no longer functional.

At approximately the first of May, it stopped working. After contacting both QB (no real info on why, except that the person finally found that there may be an issue that would be fixed with an update on May 19 (today). STiLL DOESNT WORK. The error we get is in the attachment below.

AMEX says the issue is a result of a QB update.

AMEX also says that the login of the Primary Account holder has to be used to import the data into QB.

Two problems:

1) get a busy CFO to work with a Controller who already has full administrative rights to manage this CORPORATE AMEX card.

2) our CFO has FIVE AMEX CARDS linked to his log in. We only want the corporate card imported, not his other cards.

Once again, another unforeseen change done by QB without full understanding of the impact of this change or the problems caused by it. Please do not tell me it is for "security" reasons. I flat out do not believe it. We have 4 other bank accounts that do not require the login of our CEO to make them sync.

If you have any other info to help us get this CC link working, I would certainly appreciate it.

We had to use the login of our CEO for all of his AMEX cards (which includes our corporate card).

Even though I am an account administrator for the card with AMEX, it would not work, and resulted in the same (nonsensical and uninformative) error in QB.

Once I got his login info, it worked and has been pulling in AMEX transactions to our GL again.

If this is a QB or an AMEX problem, who knows? They both blame each other for it happening.

Having the same issue. Amex bank fee is now only working for the Admin.

We value and acknowledge your feedback regarding this new requirement, Cwill3311.

As of March 30 this year, a bank feeds update was implemented to enhance security and provide an improved banking experience. As a result, we requested a reconnection using the account holder's login details.

If you're not the admin, select American Express Delegate in Bank Feed Setup. This option permits delegate users and non-Account holders to authorize or connect accounts within Intuit's products.

Here's an article about this update for more details: Refresh Your Connection for Express Web Connect Online Banking.

This complete nonsense. THIS DOES NOT WORK and YOUR TECH support says that it does not work. At the end of the year I will be switching to other software because QUICKBOOKS has become the WORST BUSINESS accounting software there is. I spend more time FIXING (or attempting to fix) all of the STUPID UI and other issues such as this that are UNFIX ABLE because QUICKBOOKS and INTUIT DO NOT CARE

I just got off the phone with customer service. After almost an hour, the tech had me run a repair on my program and restart. It finally worked! It took less than a minute for me to get a call back. I wouldn't use chat. Too complicated for this subject. Good luck!

I couldn't agree more.  QB has become the absolute WORST!  There was some sort of update and the bank feeds are atrocious to manage and even to download!

American Express QBDT Bank Feed Update

Hello--

I was able to successfully transition to the QBDT bank feed.

I noticed that after transitioning the downloaded transactions have less information in the memo.

For example, the credit card holders' name is no longer downloaded, which is unfortunate because we have over 20 card holders and without the card holder name, I have to do a lot of extra work to categorize the transactions.

Any ideas on how I can get that information downloaded, as before?

Thank you,

Noah

We appreciate you for successfully transitioning to the QuickBooks Desktop bank feeds, Noah15.

May I know your financial institution? This way, I can check if there's an issue with credit card holders' names not downloaded in QuickBooks Desktop. On the other hand, the transactions downloaded in the Bank Feeds Center depend on the data that was sent by your bank. The system will post the transactions the same way they sent to us.

If you haven't contacted them yet, I'd recommend doing so. This way, they can review your transaction and the memo information that was sent to QuickBooks. In the meantime, you can use the WebConnect feature to manually import bank transactions into QuickBooks Desktop. Here's how:

  1. Click the Banking menu.
  2. Hover over Bank Feeds and choose Banking Center.
  3. Find your bank and select Download Transactions. This opens a browser window to your bank's website.
  4. Sign in to your bank's website to download the Web Connect file.

Once you have the file, follow the steps in this article to import it into QuickBooks: How to import Web Connect (.qbo) files. I've added some resources that you can use to help manage your online banking transactions in the program:

Additionally, you can visit this link: Banking. It contains more resources on how to deal with QuickBooks Bank Feeds as well as a write-up to help you reconcile your account.

I'll be around to help if you have any other banking concerns or have follow-up questions about QuickBooks. I'm here to provide additional assistance. Have a good one.

The banking institution in this case is American Express. The AMEX cards are issued through Delta.

Is there a specific phone number I can call at AMEX that deals with bank feeds?

Thank you for your help.

American Express QBDT Bank Feed Update

By chance did you ever find a solution.  I've been downloading for years -- was told I had to upgrade to 2023, which I did....the bank feed worked for about 6 months and now will only download transactions for primary cardholder.  I have wasted so much time calling Intuit and they blame AMEX.  I can view transactions for both cardholders on the AMEX website, but not via bankfeed in Quickbooks.  I am so frustrated with Intuit and the customer service.  Go back to the prior version, if we must INTUIT -- don't fix what wasn't broken.

We want you to come across a different experience than this, CB4144.

I understand how it feels when you're unable to review and manage bank transactions. I'm here to ensure this issue gets fixed in no time.

Currently, we've updated bank feeds for a better and more secure banking experience. With that, let's refresh your bank connection. Before doing so, let's update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. From there, you'll have to turn off bank feeds to ensure you don't have any discrepancies. Once done, let's set up your bank account. Here's how:

  1. From the Banking menu, select Bank Feeds.
  2. Select Set Up Bank Feed for an Account.
  3. Enter the account name, then click Next.
  4. Sign in using your Intuit Account user ID.
  5. Enter your online banking credentials.
  6. Click Connect.
  7. Select the account you want to connect to. Then, Connect.
  8. Click Close.

When done, the system downloads all your transactions. If you notice any duplicate transactions, make sure to remove them.

Furthermore, I've added these articles as your guide in taking charge of your bank transactions:

American Express QBDT Bank Feed Update

Hi ,

My American Express feed downloaded multiple duplicates this month (more than 70) and I am unable to differentiate between real charges and duplicates.  Can I delete all the QB American express entries for the month and re-sync with AMEX?

MIKE

American Express QBDT Bank Feed Update

We understand your concern about the numerous duplicate transactions that have been downloaded from your American Express account into QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), Mike. I'm here to provide prompt and accurate assistance in resolving this matter.

There's no need to delete all the QuickBooks entries for the month in order to prevent duplicate transactions in QBDT. Instead, we can review your transactions and compare them with your bank statements to ensure accuracy and identify any potential deletions of valid transactions. Once we have identified the duplicate transactions, we can exclude them from your bank feed, effectively preventing them from being included in your financial records.

Here's how to remove duplicate transactions in Register mode:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Choose  Bank Feeds and then Bank Feeds Center.
  3. Locate and select the statement from the Items Received From Financial Institution sectionThen click on View.
  4. Match the appropriate transactions. Select Done to match them.
  5. Select Yes in the Not Finished Matching screen. You'll return to the Online Banking Center.
  6. Find and select the same statement from the Items Received From Financial Institution section. Then, click on Delete.

I've added these articles for more information about removing duplicate transactions right from your bank feed:

I've got you this article for more information about the reconciliation workflow in QBO: Learn the reconciliation workflow in QuickBooks.

I'm all ears if you have other questions about your downloaded bank transactions, Mike. I'm always here to help. Take care, and have a good one!

HI Leizy,

My issue is that I have multiple charges that are identical and I cannot identify individual charges.  I have the AMEX statement and a revised 183 duplications (same dollar amount and vendor).  A monumental task to reconcile item by item complicated by date differences between AMEX statement and QB.  If I could delete this months AMEX trans actions and re-download the AMEX transactions it would be AMAZING.

Otherwise I need to do as you suggested.

Thanks for the help!

Mike

American Express QBDT Bank Feed Update

Let's make sure this is sorted out so you can get back on track, Scolley.

Normally, after you set up your accounts for bank feeds, you can start downloading transactions from your bank. To make sure that reconnection is successful, and you'll not be experiencing issues, ensure to update to the latest release and create a backup of your company file. Once done, prepare to switch to Express Web Connect. I've outlined the steps on how:

  1. Go to File, then select Switch to Single-user Mode.
  2. Select Company, then My Company.
  3. Sign into your Intuit Account if you’re not already.
Note: If you haven't yet, you can create an Intuit account or recover your user ID and password.
  4. Delete pending online payments or checks.
  5. Add and match previously downloaded transactions.

Then, after you disconnected your accounts, set up an account for Bank Feeds. Here's how:

  1. Go to Banking and select Bank Feeds, then select Set Up Bank Feed for an Account.
  2. Enter the account name and select Next.
Note: Use the updated account name shown in the Account reconnection required list and return here to complete Step 4.
  3. You’ll see the My Company sign-in page. Sign in using your Intuit Account user ID.
  4. Enter your online banking account info, then select Connect. QuickBooks will connect to the bank’s server.
Note: Your bank may prompt you for a one-time password (OTP).
  5. Select the account(s) you want to connect to QuickBooks, then select Connect.
  6. Select Close.

However, if the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to our support team so they can investigate further. They have the tools to pull up our account securely. In addition, you may need to review your accounts to match your actual and credit card statements. Check out this article for future reference: Reconcile An Account In QuickBooks Desktop.

If you have any other concerns about bank feed update, you can always post it here in the Community. We'll always make sure to get back to you on time.
