Hello,
I am getting a notification that after 3/30/23 the only bank feed available for American Express will be "American Express - QBDT". I disabled my feed to try to re-establish my bank feed using the new system and it requires the account owner approval and says to "have the authorized account holder provide authorization." Does this mean this only works with the account owner's login information? I have always been able to link the accounts before using my account manager login.
Another article I read said that this update only applies to people who are setting up new bank feed connections after 3/30/23 and if we have an old connection it will continue working. This may be true, if you never have to disconnect your old feed, but that is rarely the case. I would like to make sure I can get the new connection working when I inevitably have to re-establish a connection and the "American Express" option is not available anymore.
Any assistance you provide would be appreciated. Thanks!

I appreciate your effort in trying to reconnect American Express to QuickBooks Desktop, NUMBERS3.
Let me present some helpful information to get your bank working again. Yes, you're right that the new connection requires the account owner's approval credentials. Please have the primary account holder secure authorization to proceed with the Bank Feeds set up.
Once you have the primary credentials, update QuickBooks to the latest release and create a backup of your company file. I'm baffled. I have an Amex credit card only. I download the transactions every month and it goes great. So I disconnected that one and established a new one. Do I create a new account for downloaded transactions in QB or can I use the old one? If I use the old one, do I still download all previous transactions? Or will they now be duplicates? When I set up the new account, it just said "American Express" and did not say "American Express Card - QBDT" - so am I just re-setting the old account? HELP !!
Let me provide some details about the American Express connection updates so you'll be guided on how to set this up, 74eman.
Starting on the 30th of March 2023, American Express will now be American Express Card - QBDT. Also, the updated bank feeds provide you with a more secure and better banking experience. That's the reason, why you'll have to reconnect your account to continue with online banking services.
You'll want to follow the steps provided below to ensure that reconnection is successful and you'll not be experiencing issues. To start, make sure to update to the latest release and create a backup of your company file. Then, prepare to switch to Express Web Connect. I've outlined the steps on how:
Also, after you've disconnected your accounts, you can set up an account for Bank Feeds. Here's how:
You may see duplicate transactions downloaded to the account, you can remove them instead.
Furthermore, when QuickBooks automatically downloads the latest bank transactions, it tries to look for and match with those transactions you've entered. Learn from this article on how to categorize them: Categorize And Match Online Bank Transactions In QuickBooks Online.

(Quickbooks Enterprise 2022 with latest updates)
It is now March 31, 2023 and Quickbooks disconnected me from my American Express Card bank download.
It instructed me to use American Express Card - QBDT to reconnect bank downloads.
When I try to do this all seems to go well. It asks me for my Amex credentials, I select the account, and then it says Connection Complete!
But when I click the button to return back to Intuit, it pops up an error. It says "Try again later. This is a temporary issue and will be resolved in a day or two. Try to setup your American Express Card - QBDT accounts then.

All accounts associated with this customer ID have been synced with Quickbooks bank feeds. If otherwise contact your financial Institution.
I have logged directly into Amex and "unsynced" all instances of Intuit to Amex through their website. And retried the connection sequence..But it gives the same error each time.
Now I cannot connect at all to the new American Express QBDT or the legacy American Express connection.
I need a fix fast. We download hundreds of transactions per day, thousands per month...
Hello: We were able to disable and reconnect the AMEX bank feeds. We used the American Express - Delegate and not the QBDT version. However, only the main card transactions are downloading now. Previously, we had the main card as well as the sub account cards transferring into 1 GL account. We do not want to set up multiple sub GL accounts and see them all on our balance sheet. Is there a way to get all of our transactions to download?
Thanks!

Its not odd behavior in the account, I have the same issue - its not downloading all card activity, just the primary card.
Before this update, it pulled in transactions from all cards.
Agreed. I reached out to QB, and of course, they have no answers. Wouldn't even let me disconnect any of the cards to try and reset the link.
I was finally able to connect to the American Express QBDT bank feed. I had to "Reset Intuit ID Settings" from the Help menu.. Then I restarted QB, went to Company/My Company and signed back in to my Intuit Account.
After that I was able to go through the normal process of connecting my Amex account to the bank feeds.
Note: Resetting Intuit ID Settings seemed to delete any other Intuit Account users. Not to be confused with User Roles for a company file.. Make note of your Intuit Account users by going to Company>Users>Intuit Account User Management.

American Express - Small Business Card (OPEN)

Thanks in advance

I'm having the same issue, did you get any solution?

Ever since creating the new Bank Feed connection to American Express QBDT, no other QBD user can open Bank Feeds Center anymore (it says they don't have access and need to request it from the primary admin). Even if I create a brand new QBD user with full permissions, and login to the admin Intuit account using that QBD user, that QBD user cannot access the Bank Feeds Center.
Intuit Live Support's suggestion is for me to give the admin credentials to all of my accounting staff so they can login to QBD as the admin user and access Bank Feeds.
I cannot imagine that that is the right solution here.
I was able to get the new American Express QBDT bank feed set up, and it is downloading all of the transactions for all of the cardholders on the account, but I am getting a lot of duplicate transactions. But I need to do it twice. After the initial set up, on the second sync, I was getting an error that service is unavailable and try again in a couple of days. I unlinked and set the sync up again, but now I have a ton of duplicate transactions. Also, with old sync, in the memo line of each transaction, the card holder name appeared, now all we seem to get in the memo line is the last 5 digits of the card number. That's a total bummer. Is there any way to get the old data?
Thanks for joining the thread, smwurzel.
I appreciate you for performing some troubleshooting steps to get this sorted out. In QuickBooks Desktop, we can remove duplicate transactions right from your bank feed. However, how you delete transactions is determined by the mode you are in. We can switch between bank modes and follow the steps in this article to remove duplicate entries: Remove duplicate transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
To get the old bank data, we can download a file (.QBO) with your company's transactions from your bank or credit card. Then import that file to QuickBooks to add those transactions to your accounts. If your bank offers Web Connect, follow the steps below:
You can also connect through Direct Connect. Just follow the steps and details in this article: Set up or edit bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop. Then, go to Connect with Direct Connect section.
I've also added articles about handling imported transactions, accounts, and other relevant matters.

I am using QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2023 and have updated to the latest revision. I am trying to re- setup the bank feed for my Amex business card. Everything I have read says there should be a vendor in the list American Express Card - QBDT, but I cannot find that option. The only 2 American Express options are American Express and American Express Bank FSB, neither of which work.
