Issue with Syncing with Chase banking

Is anyone having issues syncing Chase banking transactions? Our company has been using Quickbooks online for years. We didn't have many syncing issue till this year. The sync has stopped since April 29th. We have reached out Quickbooks supports multiple times but nothing has been resolved.  We decided to disconnect our Checking account with QuickBooks and hope to re-link the account. However, when we tried to link back up, the system couldn't find the checking account from Chase to link. What should we do to fix this issue?

Hey there swathinanon.

Thanks for dropping by the Community, I'm happy to help. There could be a number of reasons why your connection isn't syncing with Chase bank. First off, lets try using a different browser. Follow these steps to download a different broswer from what you're currently using. Please check to see the list of browsers supported by QuickBooks Online below:

For mobile devices:

If that doesn't work, let me know here and we can go from there. Thank you for your time and have a nice evening.

We are using a version  of Safari higher than 6.1. We also tried in Chrome and Firefox. However, the issuse is still there. We can't see our checking account when we try to link.

Thanks for coming back for more support, @swathinanon

I can see similar reports about Chase accounts not appearing in the list when connecting. I know we need to fix this quickly, and I assure you that this has been raised to our banking engineers to understand why this unexpected behavior is happening.

For now, I'd recommend you contact our Customer Care team again so they can add you to the list of affected users of INV-49161. You'll be notified then via email about its progress, so check your emails regularly.

For future reference, read through this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online. It helps you learn about reviewing your transactions in QuickBooks to ensure they match your actual bank and credit card statements.

Feel free to message again if you have additional concerns. We're always happy to attend your needs.

Katherine,

As I mentioned, I have reached out to Quickbooks' support teams multiple times. We are having this issue over 5 months. I will reach out again to be added to INV-49161.

My issue is not reconciliation. The issue is that I can't link Checking account with Quickbooks even though it used to connected. It seems Quickbooks' banking thinking that the account is already connected.

For the record I have been having this issue for 6 months and spent hours on the phone with QBO support during multiple different calls over the last few months. All with assurances that this issue would be resolved.

Everything is still NOT working. I am about to try aforddelta's advice. I just disconnected the accounts per her/his instructions and am going to wait 24 hours and try adding in back via a browser I do not use for QBO.

I will report back if I had any success. If this persists I am moving to Freshbooks. This is a joke.

I started having this issue a few months ago as well. I am attempting to sync a credit card via Chase to Quickbooks. It was working at one point and now it is not. Quickbooks responds with "The Chase Bank site is down for maintenance" when attempting to sync, although the Chase site is absolutely NOT down, and other apps that I use (YNAB for example) are handling the Chase integrations fine and without fail. As a developer I understand that keeping up with different integrations is hard, but Chase is one of the most popular banks in the U.S. and this integration is critical to many businesses.

Thanks for informing us about the bank feed issue you’re currently experiencing when syncing Chase to QuickBooks, @logeyg.

I'm here to share some steps to help you connect your credit card account via Chase to QuickBooks.

Let's start by accessing your account using a private browser. There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which caused some errors and/or unusual responses. You can use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

Once done, try to connect the bank account again. If it works successfully, you'd want to clear your regular browser's cache to prevent any unexpected behavior. Also, you can use other compatible browsers in QBO.

You can also refer to this article to fix specific banking errors: What to do if bank transactions won’t download or there's a bank error

Moreover, you can check with your bank other ways on how to download your transactions with QuickBooks. You can check these articles for more details:

Keep in touch if you have other concerns connecting your account with QuickBooks. I'll get back to you right away to assist you. Stay safe and healthy.

We have had this same issue since April 2020 as well. But we are on Quickbooks Desktop Premier 2019. I have not been able to sync our Chase accounts to QB since April 2020. I just a week and half ago tried adding one of our newer chase accounts to the bank feed but no transactions were synced at all. Since this appears to be a problem on both QB Desktop and QB Online, the issue is definitely not the browser being used. I think it’s something between you Intuit and Chase that needs to be looked at. Maybe Chase updated something on there end without telling you all or vice versa and that has caused this issue...

I have absolutely no problems syncing our Wells Fargo accounts so it’s something with Chase.

I think we all tried this multiple times, only the main credit card connects to Quickbooks, but  not the others. I'm unsure if t his is a Chase issue or QB, but it's been going on for too long and is super frustrating

Thanks for your suggestion. It worked!

I was unable to complete the connection of multiple Chase accounts to QB Desktop. I had identified the accounts and connected them, but it would not "complete" and I get getting a message from QB saying "an error occurred" and to go back to QBs and restart the process.

I came across this information in the community. I have Brave as my default browser. I went into Windows, changed the default to Chrome, and then tried again. No problems.

I wanted to share this because I have been working on this for two hours, a call into Chase, etc. Quickbooks does not make it easy, and their conversion instructions (having to unlink and relink accounts) is terrible.

I will say that from Chase I learned that many QBs users are having problems, but if Chase had given QBs access to your accounts prior to the new QBs software "upgrade", then QBs still has access and no further action is necessary on Chase's part.

I hope this saves someone a bit of time.

Were you able to get this fixed? Having the same issue! One Chase account is syncing perfectly, the others will not update. I tried to disconnect and reconnect, however it just says there was an error and will not let me disconnect them.

Thanks for getting involved with this thread, accountingonu.

To verify my understanding, what's the error message you're encountering while trying to reconnect your account?

Since you're encountering an error while trying to connect an account, I'd initially recommend checking your bank or credit card's website.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, Transactions, then Bank transactions.
  2. Click Link account. You don't need to add an account. Instead you'll be getting Intuit's listed URL for the financial institution.
  3. Search for your bank and choose it.
  4. Copy their URL.
  5. After arriving at their website, sign in with the proper account.

If you're able to sign in successfully, it's a good sign that there isn't a major issue. While logged in, be sure to check the following:

  • Check your account for messages, notifications, or alerts.
  • Look for any display issues as you navigate their site. These can block QuickBooks from downloading new transactions.
  • Review for any announcements about new security features/requirements.

I've also included a detailed resource about bank errors which may come in handy moving forward: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions

I'll be looking forward to your reply. Have a wonderful day!

Issue with Syncing with Chase banking

Just got done chatting with Customer Service. My main Chase account was not syncing, but a different Chase account was - so weird! Customer Service's back end team was able to reach out to Chase and it seems there was some sort of disconnect on their end with the account. After they communicated with Chase, they were able to fix the issue and all my transactions came through.

Did you call quickbooks customer service? Also, is there a delay with transactions downloading from Chase for you? I just connected a Chase credit card to my quickbooks (3 cards on the same account, so different card numbers) and the transactions aren't importing up to date. I can see 10 or so transactions from the past 3 days (not the pending transactions, but ones that have gone through), but only 1 imported. It also says each of the cards have been updated at various times in my bank feeds (4 days ago, 2 days ago, 3 months ago...we've only had the account for about 2 weeks!). I'm wondering if either I need to call to get the connection correct as you stated happened with yours or if there will just be a 3 day delay on transactions importing. I'm used to my bank importing up to the day before, so I don't like having a delay like this.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting in the thread and bringing your banking concern to our attention.

As I've checked our records, I've confirmed an ongoing issue with transactions in Chase Bank in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I suggest contacting our Customer Care Team so they can add you to the list of affected users. From there, you'll be notified once this issue gets resolved.

To reach them, click the ? Help button at the top-right corner and select Contact Us to talk with a live agent. Ensure to review their support hours to know when agents are available.

In the meantime, you can utilize the WebConnect feature to download them and import the entries into QBO. This article about uploading events manually outlines the complete instructions on how to perform the process.

Thank you. I use quickbooks accountant desktop 2021, does that make a difference in who I contact?

I also forgot to say that yes I have tried syncing manually for the most current up to date information and it still shows the various times in which each card was last synced.

Issue with Syncing with Chase banking

Hello there,

I appreciate your prompt response and confirming the QuickBooks product you're using.

The ongoing issue about Chase bank transactions is only for QuickBooks Online users. To isolate why some of your bank transactions are not showing, let's update your Financial Institutions Directory (FiDir) in QuickBooks Desktop. This will help fix your issue and make sure you have the latest info from your financial institution.

To start, create a backup copy of your QuickBooks company file and update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

After that, let's update the FiDir. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu at the top.
  2. Select Bank Feeds.
  3. Choose Bank Feeds Center.
  4. Click the Refresh account(s) icon or choose Sync all for this bank from the dropdown.

If you get the same result, you'll have to manually update each file location for each QuickBooks version. To do so, check out this article for the detailed steps and information: Update the Financial Institutions Directory in QuickBooks Desktop.

To learn how to categorize and match your bank transactions, see this resource: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

Let me know how this goes by leaving a comment below using the Reply option below. I'm here to lend a hand. Take care always!

I understand how important it is to have a smooth syncing process between your Chase account and QuickBooks Online (QBO), @integration123. I'm here to help you find a solution that works for you.

I am aware that you have already spent a considerable amount of time on Screen Shares to resolve the issue, but it didn't work. As a workaround, I suggest that you manually upload your transactions. This method allows you to ensure that your transactions are accurately recorded in QBO, providing greater control and visibility into your financial data.

If the issue persists, I recommend that you get in touch with our QuickBooks Online Support team again. You can inquire about why you are unable to connect from Chase to QBO. They can review if there are any other factors preventing QBO from syncing with Chase. To contact them, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Go to the Help icon.
  3. Click the Search tab and select Contact Us.
  4. Provide a summary of your concern and click Continue.
  5. You can choose either chat with us or have us call you.

Additionally, you can visit this article guide to learn what to do if you have issues when you manually upload bank and credit card transactions into QBO: Fix bank upload errors in QuickBooks Online

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Let us know if you have further questions about bank syncing in QBO. I'll be happy to help. Have a good one.
