Accepting bank transactions

I downloaded my credit card transactions and coded them all, but when I click on the down arrow for Batch Actions I can see both add/approve and ignore, but as I try to select add/approve it disappears and the only option is ignore.

I'll make sure can add your transactions to your banking feeds, @jantco.

To begin with, you'll want to ensure your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is updated to the latest release. This way, the system is running with the newest features and fixes.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click the Update Now tab
  3. Select Get Updates to start the download.
  4. When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks and accept the option to install the new release.

You can also check this article for reference: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

Once done, you can now accept and add those transactions to your banking feeds.

Furthermore, I'm adding this article that you can read for future reference. This can help you seamlessly match your bank and QuickBooks balance:  Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop

I believe I already have the latest version R13_72, although I did run the update and nothing new was downloaded.  I still do not have the option to add/accept.

1.  I ran the update again and there was nothing new.

2.  Verify data returned with no issues.

3.  I did import the bank transactions with a qbo web connect file.

4.  The import came in just fine.  It's within QB desktop that it will not allow me to add/accept the transactions.

I appreciate you for going through the steps above and for sharing an update with us, @jantco.

Allow me to share additional troubleshooting steps on how to get around this issue so you can add those transactions to your bank feeds. I suggest deleting/ignoring your transactions and importing them back.

Simply put a check mark on all your imported transactions and select ignore to delete them. Then reimport them. 2.PNG

If this is not the case, I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). This install your QBDT with a clean slate and latest updates. Before doing, I recommend creating a backup file. This way, you can easily restore it in case you'd encounter some errors.

When ready, here's how to uninstall your QBDT:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu. Search for “Control Panel”, then open Control Panel.
  2. Select Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  3. From the list of programs, select your version of QuickBooks Desktop you want to uninstall.
  4. Select Uninstall/Change and then Remove
  5. Click Next
  6. Then reinstall QBDT.

You can also refer to this article for more details: Clean install QuickBooks Desktop.

When everything is all set, check out this resource that can help you manage your transactions seamlessly: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can always tag me in your reply if you need more help with your transactions and QBDT. Take care and always keep safe!

Sigh.....  Now nothing happens when I click on ignore.

I should also add that I have about 20 different company files.  That makes me a little nervous about uninstalling and reinstalling QBDT.

Hi there, jantco.

Your company files shouldn't be affected when you uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks. Just make sure you have created a backup copy so you can restore them later.

Here's how to back up your files.

  1. In QuickBooks, go to the File menu and select Switch to Single-user Mode.
  2. Go to the File menu again and hover over Back up Company. Then select Create Local Backup.
  3. In the window, select Local Backup and then Next.
  4. In the Local Backup Only section, select Browse and select where you want to save your backup company file.
  5. Set the number of backups you want to keep. This is optional.
  6. This runs a test to make sure your backup file is in good shape before you save.
  7. When you're ready, select OK.
  8. Select Save it now and Next.

If you have payroll forms, you can browse this article for instructions and detailed steps: Learn how to back up your accounting data in QuickBooks Desktop.

When you re-install QuickBooks, you can download the app from our website. That way, you'll get the latest features and functions. Let me guide you how to get the installer.

  1. Make sure your computer meets the system requirements.
  2. Download your version of QuickBooks Desktop. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Windows desktop).
  3. Open the file QuickBooks.exe.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  5. Accept the software license agreement and then select Next.
  6. Enter your Product and License numbers, select Next.

After you install, QuickBooks will ask you to activate and update it. Then, you can restore the original files and work again on your bank transactions.

If you're still having issues on your Banking Fees, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Live Team. They can check and further investigate the issue.

Keep me posted if there's anything else you need by commenting below. I'll stay around until you're able to approve or ignore bank transactions.

Thank you for your help, but I decided to go a different route.  I upgraded the file to 2022 and now it's working.
