I have no problem logging into my bank with the credentials I am using in quickbooks.

The problem seems to be on quickbooks end.

The problem did not exist 2 days ago when I last logged into quickbooks online, and the account updated fine.

I was really hoping this shorter password on my bank side would correct my 103 error/ resolve my sync issue. Instead my e-banking shut off access to my account for 24 hours. Ill be back tomorrow.  Ive spent 2 hours today trying to get this to work; Im a small business owner and this is not time well spent, its wheels entirely overspun. :(

Hi katsconv2020,

I know doing everything to no avail may lead to frustrations. I'll guide you to check this out, so you can bring your transactions into QBSE.

Error 103 means your credentials are invalid. This is triggered when your logins are expired, or you use a bank link for other account types. You can do the following to check out the cause of the issue:

  • Log in to your account on the bank's website and update your credentials if you're prompted to.
  • Choose the correct link for your account. Example: When you search for Wells Fargo, they provide many links for the different account types. A user must choose the right one or may try all links.

Check out this article for more troubleshooting steps: Fix bank error 103.

Alternatively, you can import your bank transactions on a regular basis.

If you need anything else, please don't hesitate to go back to this thread.

Thanks of joining this thread, dozerdoors.

It will be my pleasure to help you get to the bottom of this, and make sure you're able to update the transactions. If you've successfully connected your bank account to QuickBooks Online, but transactions seems to be stuck, try to sign in to your bank’s website. This is to check if there are any issues on the bank’s end.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu or Transactions menu.
  2. Select Link account or Add accountNote: You won’t add an account, you just need the listed URL.
  3. Search for your bank and select it.
  4. Copy the URL listed for your bank and paste it on a new tab.
  5. Sign in to your bank or credit card's website using the copied URL.

Once signed in check the following:

  • Account for messages, notifications, or alerts.
  • Look for any display issues as you navigate the website. These can block QuickBooks from downloading new transactions.
  • Check your bank’s website for any announcements about new security requirements.

If everything looks good, go back to QuickBooks and update your bank again.

I've got this article for more details: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Otherwise, do some basic troubleshooting steps to rule out any browser-related issues. Open your QuickBooks account in a private browser or incognito. This mode will not save your browsing history.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

Go to the Banking page and update your bank. If your transactions are updated, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Please make sure to close and re-open your browser afterwards.

Alternatively, try using a different supported browser.

Please feel free to leave a comment letting me know how things go after giving this a try. I'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Sync this bank feature: what I noticed is my bank password was too long for the QB PW box! So, I went to bank site, shortened my PW and voila, my accounts sync

It isn't a banking error or a typo. It is definitely a Quickbooks error on YOUR side! Do you just randomly decide to mess with people's banking connections to screw up their productivity?? And to think that we have to PAY for this level of service! Ridiculous

Hi there, Brit1.

I'll help you in connecting your bank account.

If you don't see Add account from the drop-down menu, you can select the Link account option. This way, you'll able to connect your bank and credit card accounts to automatically download your recent transactions. I've listed the complete steps below.

  1. Select Banking from the sidebar menu.
  2. Go to the Banking tab, then Add account from the drop-down menu.
  3. In the Search field, enter your bank's name or web address.
  4. Select your bank in the search results, then click Continue.
  5. Enter the username and password you use for your bank's website in the window, then follow the on-screen instructions to connect.
  6. Choose the bank or credit card accounts you want to connect, then select the matching account type from the drop-down menu.
  7. Select how far back you want to download transactions.
  8. Hit Connect to complete the process.

If you encountered a specific error upon connecting your bank account, I recommend reading the Step 4 section of this article to be guided in fixing it: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions.

I'm also adding these references to help manage your online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online:

You can always find me here if you have any other concerns or further questions about bank feeds. Have a great rest of the day.

This advice has not worked. I had a connection for over 3 months and it arbitrarily decided to connect. I have checked credentials and they work when signing into my banks website or app. I am perplexed.

Hi there, Fluke.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. This isn't the kind of experience I'd like you to have when connecting your bank to QuickBooks. I also appreciate you for performing steps to fix the issue. With this, I've got some details to help connect your account in QuickBooks seamlessly.

When you encountered error 103, it usually means that the user ID or password is incorrect for the bank account you’re trying to connect. Since you've checked the credentials and they work when signing into your bank's website, you'll have to check or update your banking sign-in information in QuickBooks. This is to make sure your bank's sign-in credentials are matched.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Locate the card that has the error 103.
  3. Click the Edit button.
  4. Select Edit sign-in info.
  5. Enter your new credentials.
  6. Click Update.

If the issue persists, I advising clicking this article to see another instruction on how to fix the bank connection issue in QBO: Find your bank or credit card account when you connect to online banking

If the issue continues to occur, I reccomend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They have the tools to check your account and might perform a screen-share to help investigate and fix this problem.

Additionally, you can refer to each article below to view steps on how you can review downloaded bank and credit card transactions by adding or matching them. Then, how to reconcile your accounts so they always match your bank and credit card statements.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have other questions about connecting your bank with QuickBooks. I'm always here to help.

@Fluke

Utilize the trial version of SlickConnect to isolate the issue. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed. If the same error persists, there is an ongoing problem at your bank.
