So QB Desktop Pro Plus 2021 using the new "Advanced Mode" bank feeds, any time we are processing transactions and use the "Add More Details" dialog box, there are certain keystrokes/letters that seem to be captured as "control" keys at all times so you can't type certain letters.
For instance if you try to type a capital "L" while writing a description, suddenly a new line will be added as if it was a "Ctrl-L" key. This is extremely difficult when tryign to type what is required for names or notes or descriptions etc. Our workaround is to go type text in another application someplace, copy it into the clipboard then paste it back into the correct field in QB but its somewhat appallign this has been going on for months and not fixed and nobody else seems to have the issue?
The unexpected behavior might be caused by a corrupted file, CohesionSpotormorts.
Let's run the Verify/Rebuild Utility Tool to detect the data damage. Here's how:
Once done, go back to your bank feed and try to type a note or description. If you're still getting the same result, use the QuickBooks File Doctor to fix your company file.
I've also included the keyboard shortcuts in QuickBooks Desktop to learn more about doing things more efficiently in QBDT.
Keep me posted on how the steps work. I want to make sure this is taken care of.
Thanks for the "reboot your computer and check to see your mouse is plugged in" answer.
But no my file is not corrupted.
Shift-L adds a new line
Shift-R removes a line
This is a program bug. It is not a file corruption bug.
Thanks for getting back to us, @CohesionSpotormorts.
I appreciate you following the steps shared by my colleague above.
Since the issue persists, let's try repairing your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). This can help fix any program-related issues.
Here's how to do it:

Nope. You can keep posting the ridiculous canned copy-paste "try re-install windows then reinstall all your programs" stuff just so you get 'points' here or whatever it is, but - just like those same posts in 1000 other threads - that is NO solution and it helps NO-ONE.
I've done the repair countless times. There is a bug in the program. It won't let you use the shift key for certain capital letters on that screen.
Still broken as of now. Can't enter a capital "R" which oddly it seems like I have need for somewhat regularly.
This is still totally broken. In feed transactions when writing a description you canNOT type a capital R or L.
In addition - the screen scaling is a mess. The buttons at the bottom of the screen won't appear on a high res laptop screen, the windows are too big and not scrollable or resizable. Below is a full screenshot. There is no way to resize this window or move it up to get to the buttons. If you try you can just barely click the blue edge of the blue "Save and add to register" button but its really a huge hassle and a mess.
Do NOT tell me to repair my file or reinstall quickbooks. This in fact is a fresh complete install of QB 2022. I have run file repair plenty of times. This is a PROGRAM problem not a file issue. I am guessing it has to do with screen scaling because the format of my laptop screen isn't something they tested, but in meantime its a massive pain and makes it extremely hard to work with the bank feed screens.
Good morning, @CohesionSpotormorts.
Thanks for chiming back in and letting us know how those steps went.

This bug is still present in the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2024. What is the status of this? What attempts have been made to fix it? When will it be fixed?
I appreciate your follow-up regarding this Bankfeed keystroke blocking issue, @AL13.
Upon checking our database, it shows no ongoing investigation into keyboard shortcuts. If you've already repaired QuickBooks Desktop but the issue remains, I can provide another workaround.
Aside from using Shift "L", use the Caps Lock button instead. Once activated, all letters you type will be in uppercase, regardless of whether you press the shift key or not.
Additionally, you can use keyboard shortcuts to do all kinds of things more efficiently in QuickBooks Desktop.

If this bug still exists, please create a ticket for it so that the software engineers work on fixing it.
A larger issue here is the tendency to add QuickBooks Desktop features as web apps in little browser windows rather than as normal native software like the rest of QBD. QBD is appealing specifically because it is not a web app and does not have all of the problems that come with a web app. Please encourage your software development team to keep QBD features in whatever native framework has been used in the past and stop creating things as pop-up in-app webpages that only half work. Doing that eliminates many of the advantages of actual desktop applications and inevitably brings along a whole slew of bugs and missing functionality, of which this is just one example. If we wanted a web app, we'd sign up for QuickBooks Online.

Of course using the Caps Lock button will work. However, speaking only for myself, I don't want all of my memos or descriptions to be in all caps. The problem isn't that we can't use the Caps Lock button; it's that when entering the bank feeds and typing in the descriptions, your brain isn't thinking about "Oh, there's a capital L or R; I need to use the caps lock button to begin that word and then click it off to continue the word." Nope, you type merrily along, only to discover the missing letter and an extra line, in the case of the capital L and then have to fix it. This is incredibly inefficient and ridiculous.
I understand Intuit wants to make their products "accessible." However, for those of us who recognize how much better QBD is than QBO (I've used both extensively), Intuit will end up losing customers if we continue being pushed toward a product we absolutely do not want.
Please fix this software issue!! The fact that no one is actively working on this speaks volumes and it has been going on for several years now. To me, this indicates that Intuit is only interested in moving customers to QBO. IMHO, that's a big mistake!
Couldn't agree more with CohesionSpotmorts' sentiments. The answer provided seems like it was a cut and paste. Moreover, this behavior is super annoying and extinguishes any usability Add more Details has to offer. I don't know why we tolerate Quickbooks anymore.
Can we cheer 1,000 more times for CohesionSpotmorts? He/she is speaking for so many of us Quickbooks users! Thank you CohesionSpotmorts.
Hurray! for AL13. Thank you for this thoughtful reply.
