I've followed all the directions but it's just not working. I go to the "Download Transactions" window and I get a message box that says before I can download transactions I must set up online banking, to click "setup" and follow the instructions.
I click "setup." It asks me to find my bank, I do...I choose "Capital One-New." I click Next. Then it says I need to go to the capital one website and download a statement and import it onto QB. I go there, all that's available is a pdf form, so I download it. Then it says to go to the Download Transactions window and select the import file icon to import your statement. But when I open that window, the file I just downloaded is grayed out and unselectable.
What now?
Hey there, july1962.
Thanks for sharing the steps you’ve performed to set up your online banking. I'd be happy to help get your Capitol One account connected, so you can start importing the transactions.
The first thing to do is update QuickBooks to the latest release. Updating the software improves its performance and can fix issues you get while using QuickBooks.
Here’s how:
To download from the internet:
When the download completes, double-click to install the update. You may need to restart Windows after the installation finishes.
Once done, let's go ahead and set up online banking. For the step by step process, check out this article: Online Banking (Mac).
Please leave me a comment with an update about how things go. I want to make sure that you're taken care of. Have a great weekend.
So, I had already done all that. When I first opened QB, it installed the latest version which appears to be an even newer version than what's offered online in the link you sent.
I already went through the instructions to set up online banking. However, after downloading the statement, and trying to import it, the file is grayed out so it won't let me choose it.
The file is a pdf file, is that the right type of file? There were no other options to download anything else but a pdf file.
I had already done all that. When I opened QB today, it automatically installed the latest version. When I checked the version with what's available online, it appears to be a newer version than what was offered at the link you sent.
I already went through the online banking instructions. I downloaded the statement from Capital One's website, and it gave me a pdf file. But when I try to import that file, it's grayed out and I can't select it.

I am having the same problem, I have downloaded the update and I have installed it still not working. I have downloaded the transactions from the bank and tried to import them but there is no bank to export to. I can't setup Capital One bank. I have chosen Capital One New and it's giving me an error. This problem has been going on since the end of 2018. I can't get any help from QB, Intuit, or Capital One Bank.
Thanks for joining the discussion, @moebe,
I want to ensure you're able to connect your Capital One account into QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, so your register balance is up-to-date.
Before anything else, may I know what error code or message are you getting when trying to set up the connection? Knowing this will help me check for reported issues with your financial institution.
In the meantime, let's create a new test company file to determine if the issue is with your bank or the bank's server. Perform the steps below:
If you're getting the same result, you can check this article for the other solutions: Troubleshoot Online Banking (Mac).
Please leave a reply on this thread on how things go. I'll be on a standby for your response on this topic. Have a good one.
There is no bank option for "Capital One 360 Spark" to connect for QBDesktop Mac...can you please add?
Thanks for dropping by, @ANONYMOUS14.
There is currently an ongoing issue when setting up the online connection for Capital One 360 Spark. This is the reason why you can't view the bank as one of the options.
Our Engineering Team is now working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please reach out to our QuickBooks Desktop Mac Support so they can pull up your account in a safe environment and sign you up to receive email updates once they become available.
In the meantime, you can use the web connect feature to download a statement from your bank's website and import it to QuickBooks. You can refer to this article for more details: Set up and use Online Banking (Mac).
Let me know if you need anything else. I'm always around if you need help. Enjoy your weekend.
