Hello there, krvfco. Let me share some details about migrating your QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advance account to TechSoup.
A direct transfer of your QBO account to TechSoup QBO account is not possible within the program. However, I suggest exploring a migrating tool to assist with the transfer.
Alternatively, you can export your QBO lists and import them to TechSoup. This way, you can easily proceed with the setup using the data from your QBO account.
Additionally, you can refer to this article on personalizing your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
If you need further assistance in migrating your QBO files to TechSoup, please let me know. I'll be happy to help you in any way I can.
As I know, the special price from TechSoup is only valid for 1 year. You can purchase a 3rd party service to migrate your data if required.
@JanbonN I'm a bit confused about your response "A direct transfer of your QBO account to TechSoup QBO account is not possible. However, I suggest exploring a migrating tool to assist with the transfer."
Our non-profit recently received the TechSoup QBO Plus subscription, and in the activation email, it states:
However, when I click on the link, login, and select the organization, I receive the following error: (screen shot below)
https://app.screencast.com/IVPszqPH4tzmB?tab=Details&conversation=96K6maglPJKqCKnAJAwAiW
(I couldn't upload the photo b/c I don't know what is wrong with your system)
The error says:
You can't add QuickBooks Online Plus to Upturn Arts with your existing subscription. Try another company or contact customer support for help.
Finally, the email message states that if you create a new company, you'll need to copy info from the old subscription to the new one, but only if the original subscription is QBO Advanced!
Needless to say, this is all very convoluted and confusing. Can you provide any clarity on the path I need to take to move our current QBO Plus paid subscription to the TechSoup QBO Plus subscription?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
Hello there, jerlenaz.
Let me add details regarding moving the QuickBooks Online (QBO) account to TechSoup.
Based on your given information, you need to have QuickBooks Online Advance before you can copy an existing subscription. Hence, this might explain why you're unable to add your company. To get this resolved, you might need to upgrade your subscription or move your lists manually.
On the other hand, consider reviewing this material to manage your QBO account to ensure it fits your organization's needs: Configure an account for a nonprofit organization.
Keep us posted in this thread if you have additional questions when moving your data or other related concerns in QuickBooks Online. We're here to lend a hand.
I am enormously frustrated and having the exact same problem. I'm unable to copy my original company to the the new company I created using the Tech Soup subscription (both are online advanced). I continue to get the error message I will try to attach.
I've spent at least 6 hours on the phone with the help desk over the past 9 days and no one knows how to fix this. Meanwhile I'm still paying foe the original subscription.
Any assistance greatly appreciated.
Hello there, Tom.
Let me redirect you to our QuickBooks Online support team. I know that you've already contacted them, but it's the best option we can offer for now. They have the necessary tools and expertise to look into the issue.
In addition, you can consider checking out this article to personalize and add specific info to your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
I'll keep an eye out for your reply. And if you have any other QuickBooks-related concerns, feel free to include them in the comments. We're here to assist you 24/7.
I appreciate your desire to help, but I have already been through that route multiple times. They DO NOT have the tools to help or this would have been fixed 9 days ago. How can anyone run a company like this?
I appreciate you for coming back to this thread, Tom.
Since you've already reached out to our support team. I suggest contacting TechSoup support to further isolate the problem.
I've added this article to learn how to update your QuickBooks Online account for a nonprofit organization: Configure an account for a nonprofit organization.
If you need further assistance in migrating your QBO files to TechSoup, feel free to come back here in the Community. We're here to assist you 24/7.
They don't admit it openly but their Support does not support converting your data to QBO provided by TechSoup. You need to purchase a third party service.
Thank you for your suggestions. I had already been the route of working on this with Tech Soup. After 9 days of dealing with this, I finally got an Intuit agent who knew exactly what was wrong and stepped me through the fix. She was brilliant. Thank you.
Actually, they DO support copying an existing company to a company started using a Tech Soup subscription. I finally found an Intuit agent yesterday who understood the problem and stepped me through it. In u Dee an hour, everything worked as it should and I was them able to cancel my original subscription. We’re all good now.
I'm glad to hear that your issue has been resolved, Tom.'
Our support was able to assist you with copying an existing company file. We wanted to make sure you had a good experience while using QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Feel free to contact us if you have questions about copying existing company files. I'm always here to assist you at any time. Have a great one.
I am having the same problems!!!
Who did you work with?
The CS agent I am currently talking with is sending me back to Techsoup.

It is impossible to get to any particular person at QBG, so if you will send me an email to:
I'll be happy to exchange phone #s and I can probably step you through it over the phone.
Glad to help,

Tom-
I was able to back-up and copy my old company to my new one (Techsoup acc), but it seems that transactions back to the beginning of 2024 are not reconciled in the new company! Am I going to have to reconcile these all over again?
I'd be happy to chat, but they remove email addresses and phone numbers from this discussion.
Any help is much appreciated!
I would *love* to have your assistance with this as I have been in the same boat for about a monthly now. I've attached a file that should have my contact info (hopefully that doesn't get scrubbed), so please shoot me an email or text to find a time to connect. It would be greatly appreciated.
Jerry
I need to do this as well. Please direct me to one of the people at Intuit who knows how to do it, so I don't need to waste hours of time.
Thanks
Sue
Can you tell us all who it was?
Thanks
There are several of us that need help with the same issue. How is it good PR for Intuit to put us all through this? I've been on chat for more than an hour with someone who apparently thinks Tech Soup is accounting software. Please provide a link to someone at Intuit who can help. Thanks
Let me chime into this thread and offer additional assistance so you can transfer your QuickBooks Online (QBO) data to a TechSoup QB account, histbev.
The existing subscription you want to move should be a QBO Advanced plan. If not, I suggest we temporarily upgrade it. Then, your Advanced account and the QBO one from TechSoup should have the same login credentials. Once done, you can follow the instructions in the TechSoup fulfillment email to set up your QBO TechSoup account the same as your existing QBO subscription rather than creating a new one.
After both subscriptions are under the same QBO account, you can refer to the outlined steps:
Additionally, I'll add these articles to help you manage company files:
You're always welcome to come back to this post if you have more questions about transferring your company data to different products. We're available 24/7 to assist. Take care!
I am in the same boat...Please help! I am trying to switch from a desktop version of Quickbooks to Online Plus through the TechSoup resource as well. Already paid $80 for the 1 year subscription. I don't even want to make the change but Intuit is forcing it by dropping support for all desktop plans. Our nonprofit is quite small and we do not need the Online Advanced version but if you can guarantee that it will make the transfer work, I will do it to avoid all this other headache. Please help.
Intuit is forcing it by dropping support for all desktop plans.
You can still purchase QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus/Premier Plus and they will support it until 2027.
We are a small nonprofit that uses techsoup to get affordable software. Techsoup does not offer any Desktop versions newer than what we have (Premier 2021). It is my understanding that we have to switch in order for payroll to keep functioning and updating properly. Is that correct or can we continue to use the 2021 desktop version with payroll being affected? We have a separate payroll subscription that was upgraded in Feb 2024.
