Enhanced Payroll

When attempting to run manual payroll the notice for the new overtime rules pops up and results in quickbooks shutting down. I need the fix.

Enhanced Payroll

Hi, Bob. Let’s troubleshoot your QuickBooks Online (QBO) so you can start running manual payroll without further interruptions.

The issue you're experiencing could be linked to outdated or corrupted files in your browser, which is causing QuickBooks to shut down unexpectedly. To get started, I suggest logging into QBO using a private or incognito browser and manually rerunning your payroll.

If logging in through incognito mode doesn’t resolve the issue, please restart your browser to clear any outdated processes and ensure updates take effect. A supported and up-to-date browser can also improve performance when working with the program.

Should the issue persist even after trying these initial browser troubleshooting steps, I recommend contacting our Live Support team for further assistance. They have specialized tools to access your account securely and perform additional steps.

I’ll ensure this conversation remains open for any future updates and discussions.

I will try these actions and see if it works.

Enhanced Payroll

Hi Bob!

I just want to add that if you’re on QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, you can switch to single-user mode before processing payroll to avoid any interruptions or accidental shutdowns. Simply go to the File menu and select Switch to Single-user Mode.

Enhanced Payroll

This is a known QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll issue tied to the new overtime rules prompt, which causes QB to crash when starting manual/unscheduled payroll. First, make sure QuickBooks is fully updated to the latest release, then run Quick Fix My Program from the Tool Hub and restart. Some users can bypass the crash by starting payroll from Employees - Pay Employees instead of Start Unscheduled Payroll, or by temporarily disabling overtime tracking until Intuit releases a patch. If QuickBooks continues to shut down beyond this screen and other payroll actions also fail, that can indicate underlying logical file corruption. In that case, after Verify/Rebuild, you could test a file repair option like Stellar Repair for QuickBooks on a copy to see if it stabilizes the file — though this issue is most often program-related, not data-related.
