How do I remove my credit card # from Desktop Enhanced Payroll after canceling subscription?

Due to Intuit's ridiculous new $549 a year renting of Quickbooks Desktop Pro which prevents me from renewing my already overpriced Enhanced Payroll subscription, I decided to not comply and will stick with my current version of Quickbooks 2020 and switch to manual payroll once my subscription runs out in April.

I know from previous years that Quickbooks loves that auto-renewal so I thought I'd remove auto-renewal by removing the credit card # on file. Nope! I was told I had an active subscription and could not remove the credit card.  So I cancelled the subscription even though I was worried that it may cancel the subscription right away and not let me finish out the last 2 months of service I had paid for but fortunately, it cancelled it and said I was good until April.  So great, I can delete the credit card info, right? NOPE!

It still tells me my subscription is active and therefore I can't remove it. Intuit is holding my credit card hostage essentially. I COULD risk it and leave it there until after April and remove it, but at this point I have zero trust in Intuit. NONE. I want to remove it now and I don't want to call the mystery number and talk to the people who barely speak English in god knows where with god knows what privacy laws about my banking information.

Is there any way to remove the credit card? I've already changed the expiration date on it and now it's expired...I've even put in a fake address so maybe if they try it, the credit card company stops it. Do I need to resort in putting in a dummy number too? Is this what Intuit has become?

How do I remove my credit card # from Desktop Enhanced Payroll after canceling subscription?

Hello there, Photoguy.

I'm here to provide information about removing your credit card information in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) after canceling your payroll subscription.

When canceling your payroll subscription, you'll continue to have access to your service through the end of your current subscription period. Also, your service will be terminated at the next auto-renew date.

Are you trying to delete your credit card information through QBDT? If so, try signing in to Customer Account Management Portal (CAMPs) using your Intuit Account info and remove it from there.

Here's how:

  1. Go to camps.intuit.com.
  2. Choose your QuickBooks subscription in the Products & Services list, then click Details.
  3. Locate the Payment Method in the Billing Information section and tick Edit.
  4. Enter the necessary changes, then hit Save and Close.

To know more about the CAMPs, consider checking out this article: What is CAMPs and how do I use it?

I'm also adding this article that tackles QBDT cancelation policies: QuickBooks Desktop cancelation policies.

For more tips and other resources, I recommend visiting our website for future reference: Self-help articles.

Please let me now if you have follow-up questions about this or anything else. I'm more than willing to assist. Keep safe.

How do I remove my credit card # from Desktop Enhanced Payroll after canceling subscription?

Hi FritzF,

I went to CAMPS site, but it's just a mirror of the page shown within the Quickbooks Desktop page. As such, when I go to payment detail and try to delete the credit card I still get the error that I can't do it because I have an active subscription.  I did cancel the subscription in a few weeks ago so there is no option for that, but to be clear, I want to remove my credit card details from Intuit completely so they don't "accidentally" auto-renew the subscription. It's kind of sneaky that they don't let me remove the credit card.

Is there any way you can walk me through this? I'm afraid I don't trust your tech support. Last time I contacted them, they likely sold or gave my information to scammers because I started getting phishing emails that contained information that I had discussed with them.

I did email security and forwarded them the emails I've received but all I ever got was an automated reply.

I guess I don't have any other choice than to contact support again. They are quite terrible.
