Can't override box 12a on W3c

I forgot to include the Box 12a for one of my employees, and I'm working on the corrected W2. The only change to make is this box.

While working on Form W-2c worksheet, I am able to enter the information for Box 12a.

However, when I get to the W3c, this information is not displayed, and I am unable to override. I see that on the original W3, that information is not included anyway.

Do I still need to file the W3c?

Can't override box 12a on W3c

Let me provide you an answer to this question, @jorr.

Yes, you need to file a Form W-3c even if only one Form W-2c is being filed, @slfpd.

You will not be able to change or override any Box 1-12 and 16-20 amounts directly on the W3c worksheet. Any changes should be made on the W-2c worksheet and the interview screens. The changes will flow to the W-3c worksheet.

Let's make sure to mark the box as YES in the "Have you made the W-2 corrections in QuickBooks?" question before making changes.

After this, enter the amount in the 12a fields for the Previously reported and Correct information column in your W-2 form.

Once done, the amounts will now automatically reflect in the Forms W-3c's 12a fields.

For more information about amending an incorrect W-2 Form in QuickBooks, you can check this article: Fix an incorrect W-2 Form.

You can also create a payroll summary report to view of your payroll totals, including employee taxes and contributions in QuickBooks Desktop.

Just go back to this thread if need further help in correcting your tax forms.

Can't override box 12a on W3c

It's not working for me. I have 2 employees. I need to correct one of the W-2s for one of the employees. The worksheet is input correctly, but the W-2c is not because the software is not correctly pulling the information from the worksheet. Likewise, the W-3c is not correct for the same reason.

Thank you. I did that. Spent over 2 hours on the phone. QB Support gave up. It’s a defect in the software. The techs need to fix the program. It’s not correctly working. I’m going to have to manually prepare the dox which was the whole purpose of upgrading to Pro 2022.
