Is there a way to set up the vendor who receives wage garnishments for child support to be paid electronically through QuickBooks? I don't see a payment preference when I do the vendor set up. I've tried through the payroll liabilities set up but can't find this state agency. Am I stuck paying them with a check?

It's nice to see you here today, @Tammy_Texas,
Welcome to our forums. I'd be glad to share some information with you about electronically filing wage garnishments in QuickBooks.
At the moment, the E-File and E-Pay feature are supported for the following forms and liabilities in QuickBooks Desktop:
Were currently unable to set up electronic filing towards your vendor for your wage garnishments. To complete your work, you can follow John-pero's suggestion in his answer above. He's one of our best contributors here in our forum.

That should get you on the right track. Please don't hesitate to post a comment below should you need anything else, as I'd be happy to continue helping. Have a great and productive week!
You may not be "stuck" at all. Depends on your state and if they have or participate in a service such as expertpay which says it covers all 50 states. I log in, pay and move on in less than 30 seconds. It takes a little bit longer recording the payment in QB but there is no way to directly pay this from within QB since it is not a tax. https://www.expertpay.com/ Set up your account and enter the employee info once (you can change amounts when you get a new order or even override)
Thanks! I'll check it out. I'm in Texas, btw.

I just have to say I am VERY disappointed that QuickBooks payroll does not offer this service. Our last payroll company took care of all of this for us with a few easy steps and because QB doesn't this I have been on the phone for HOURS trying to figure out how to get this setup for our employee and his child support garnishments.
I appreciate you putting your voice out and providing feedback on the electronic payment feature in QuickBooks, @Ashleyn,
I can definitely see how e-filing wage garnishments in QuickBooks would be useful to expedite the time processing them to your agency.
At the moment, we won't be able to make this work but I'll be taking note of this request and making sure it reaches our engineers. Our developers has a massive product roadmap, they are implementing new features based on the functionality that works best for most users.
To complete your work, you'll need to file them outside QuickBooks or look for third-party applications that will allow electronic payments for garnishments.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to assist you today. I’m always available to help if you ever need one.
Expertpay takes maybe 1 -2 minutes, no more than 5, to initially set up your account. Like I said before, as little as 30 seconds each pay period to log in and initiate payment and another 30 seconds recording the payment inside QB payroll. There are never forms to file. And that is electronic payment.
What you have to consider is that a wage garnishment as a deduction is equivalent to a retirement program deduction - something else you will not find being able to perform directly from within QB payroll. These are not taxes. Thus not included in Full Service payroll (only Full Service electronically submits payroll taxes without user intervention)
John thank you so much for your response to this. While I understand not being able to pay via Quickbooks electronically, can we create a check within Quickbooks for printing? For example, right now I have physical checks from my bank which I print on through Quickbooks for various vendor payments. I wanted to see if I can set up my employee's wage garnishment company as a vendor and create a normal check within Quickbooks to print out the information on the physical check and mail to them. This way the check gets recorded in Quickbooks and saves me from having handwrite the check.
Also, I dont think I can use expertpay as I believe its for child support and this garnishment is for student loans.
I am interested in the pricing for the expert pay service. The website is not forth coming with that information.. I would rather not sign up and then find out its too expensive. I only have one employee that I need to make child support payments for. Thanks!
It is almost a year later and it seems QBO FSP still can't remit the payment to the states. I think most clients would pay extra for this service and this is a fairly common payroll issue. Another option might be moving to ADP or Paychex and using their now simple GL interface to bring in the payroll data.
I could have sworn that this was available through QBD at one point, so there's no way to EPay CS liability through Quickbooks?
Thanks for following the thread, @Denise-Cranford.
As mentioned above, the E-File and E-Pay are only supported for limited forms in QuickBooks. At this time, this is not available for a child support liability. You can check out Understanding the E-File and E-Pay services for additional details.
If you'd like, I can submit feedback to our product development team, so this can be considered in a future update. In the meantime, you can follow the suggestion made by John-Pero.

In Texas you can set up auto deductions through an internet disbursement website called SmartPay. It's been easy so far because the amounts deducted haven't changed. Once it auto deducts I "pay" it in QuickBooks, changing the check number to DEBIT. For those of you outside of Texas check with your state comptroller to see if they have a similar option.
It's free
are there any recent (2022) updates with QBO for automatically paying wage garnishments for child support?
The link for John Pero's solution from 2019 is broken - will have to send a paper check to Franchise Tax Board. California requires we go through the motions to set up an EFT to electronically transfer earnings withholding order garnishments. Seems redundant as we already have this to electronically transfer payment with e-file set up via Quickbooks Enterprise. Paying State of CA wage garnishments via Quickbooks payroll using our existing corporate EFT makes more sense. Hoping Intuit can include this in an update for 2023.
Hi John - how did you record the payment in QB's?
