Hi there, rodney4.

You'll have to void or delete the paycheck and then recreate it with the correct paycheck date. If you process payroll through Direct Deposit, you can still cancel it before 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time and 2 banking days before the paycheck date you accidentally entered.  On the other hand, if you manually processed the check, you can delete and recreate it anytime.

Here's how to delete a paycheck:

  1. Log in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. From the Workers or Payroll menu, select Employees.
  3. Below the Run Payroll button, click Paycheck list.
  4. Select the paychecks to void or delete.
  5. Click Void or Delete.

For more details in managing and processing payroll, you can refer to this resources: Delete or void paychecks.

Keep me posted on how this works. You take care and have a great day!

I can share some information about deleting your payroll, @nleep.

Yes, as long as you've deleted the paychecks successfully. That will also stop the auto-draft taxes that you've set up.

Here's how to delete the paycheck:

  1. Go to the Payroll from the left menu and then select Employees.
  2. Click on the Paycheck list link under the Run payroll button.
  3. Select the check(s) you'd like to delete. You'll see the Delete option if the direct deposit has not been processed yet or the paycheck is not a direct deposit.
  4. Click on the I understand that this action cannot be undone checkbox.
  5. Choose Delete Paycheck to confirm the deletion.

For more information about deleting your paychecks depending on your payroll service, refer to the following article: Delete or void employee paychecks. That will also help you resolve the error you're having in case you're unable to delete the paycheck.

Once you're done and needed to create a new one, see this article for detailed guidance in setting up and running your payroll: How do I create a paycheck for an employee?. This will also guide you in creating paychecks for your employees with a scheduled or unscheduled payroll run.

Hello there, @Mesalt.

I'll help you correct the paycheck submitted with the wrong pay period.

In QuickBooks Online Payroll, editing, deleting, or voiding a paycheck depends on your processing time and payroll service. I recommend deleting a paycheck and recreate it. Follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Payroll, then Employees.
  2. Choose Paycheck list.
  3. Select the paycheck(s) to delete or void, then choose EditDelete, or Void.
  4. Click Yes.

However, the paycheck will be created based on the employee settings. I recommend editing the employee set up for payroll. You can change it to every week.

Here's how:

  1. From the left menu, choose Payroll.
  2. Go to the Employees tab.
  3. Select the employee's name to open it.
  4. Scroll down to the Employment details and click Edit.
  5. Change the Pay schedule to every week by clicking the dropdown.
  6. Click Save.

Once done, you can then recreate the paycheck.

For instance, you are unable to make the change, you'll see a message for the reason. You can reach our Customer Care team.

Here is an article for the detailed steps of the process: Edit, delete, or void employee paychecks.

I'm also adding this article about changing employee-paid deductions to guide you if you need to modify employee deductions: Set up, change, or delete employee-paid payroll deductions.
