This update is ridiculous. Everytime I try to access Employee Center, Customer's, Payroll, basically anything, it takes up to 5 minutes and often time freezes that I have to close out using control-alt-delete.
The version I am working on is R4_173 and it is extremely slow. Is this going to be fixed? I understand working out the details but when this affects day to day operations, it's frustrating.
I understand your frustration, eva0426. Please know that we aim to provide you with a better experience than what you are currently encountering.
Upon checking here, there's an ongoing investigation about QuickBooks Desktop Employee Center freezing/latency. Rest assured, our engineering team is already working on this to find a resolution.
In the meantime, let me provide you with a workaround for this. If your company file is stored on a local network, our Product Investigations team advises that there's been some identified improvement in application speed by performing a RAM Allocation to increase the application's Maximum Cache.
Here's how to perform a RAM Allocation:
In the event your company file is stored with Right Networks, our Product Investigations team advises there's been some success with pulling the file outside of Right Networks to use and run payroll.
To ensure you’re in the loop about the progress of the investigation, I suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Desktop Support Team and letting your company be added to the list of affected users. You’ll receive an email once more information is available about the issue.

I have done everything (literally) that is suggested in this forum. Nothing is working. I still get the message. All the "Required Information" is in and that includes the telephone number and email. I have tried to reenter it and when I save it the message says I still need to add it.
What is the fix or do we just have to live with the nasty orange/red ! ?
It seems like Intuit is making us live with the issues they can't fix. Is it time to move away from them to another software?
Also in addition to it never being fixed, the reasons for the Required Information is so that Intuit can market product to our employees without getting their permission. Isn't that telemarketing and spam?
Employee Required Info error messages. I was just on the phone with support to fix the error.
The required information must be done through setup.
Employees (word at the top of the file)> Payroll setup>Employees> double click the name you want to fix>next until you find the missing information such as email and phone number>next (until you add all missing info)>done. Close and save setup.
Go to employee center and check your employees!
Hope this will help someone else.
Has there been a solution to this problem? I also have employees working in two state in the same payroll period and they have two profiles one for each state. This was working fine before.
Greetings, @Trisha36. Allow me to assist you in providing insights regarding the issue you are experiencing with the freezing or latency of the Employee Center.
We are happy to let you know that the problem you experienced with QuickBooks has been fixed in the newest version available for all supported versions. However, before updating your system, we suggest using the solution suggested by our colleague, Nicole_N. This involves allocating RAM or temporarily removing the file from Right Networks (if it's stored there) to run payroll.
To ensure that you have access to the latest features and product improvements, it's recommended that you update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. QuickBooks will automatically download and install any available updates, but you can also choose to run the update manually yourself.
Here's how:

My employee center was working fine until QB asked for an update on Friday. Ever since Friday's update, it's back to freezing and doing the same thing as before. The entire office has done the update, shut down all computers, shut down the server, and restarted everything starting with the server and still freezing. We were updated to release R5P showing R5_9.
I really wish Quickbooks would not treat us like idiots. I know how to change an employees state. What I need is for you to put it back to the way it was so that we can have an employee with two profiles and the same social security number. I have employees that work in two different states in the same payroll period and I need this feature back ASAP. It gave us a warning before just alerting us that this social was used and we could just proceed to save now we can't do that. Entering all 9 or zeros for the social in one profile will just mess with W-2's and create more work at year end.
Hi, Trisha36. I understand the significance of creating two employee profiles with identical social security numbers. Let me share some additional troubleshooting steps to proceed with the process.
Yes. The system allows you to use the same Social Security Number (SSN) for multiple employee profiles. You can select Yes or No when notified that another employee has the same SSS number.
Since you can't save the details, may I know what error you've received when trying to save the information? This way, I can gather and share enough solutions to your concern.
On the other hand, you may update your payroll tax table to the latest release as an outdated version may affect this behavior. To start:

Have you checked to see that you are using the most latest update for Enterprise? I only ask because I started this thread several months ago because of the "required information" issue. I also have employees working in more than 1 state during a pay period. However, approximately 1-2 weeks ago, it seems to have reverted back to the way it used to be. That being if you tried to save an employee profile for a 2nd state, it gave a warning to ensure you wanted to save this profile since there was already any employee with that SS. You click YES and it will let you.
I'm running Release R5P, R5_12
I've even tested it by activating secondary state profiles for a single employee and making changes-- It allowed me.
I guess I didn't realize that I am running a different Quickbooks program. I am using Quickbooks Premier Contractors Edition 2021 for desktop. Which program are you using exactly? Wondering if I should switch programs?

And just that quick its back to the same old mess and is not letting me have one employee with multiple profiles.
Intuit needs to permanently correct this issue. It's very clear that I'm not the only employer having problems with this situation. Intuit needs to stop trying to police how we do our job. We, as customers, pay Intuit to meet our needs--NOT cause us problems.
I'm using Enterprise 23.0 for desktop. But I don't think the version specifically is the problem. I think it might be an overall Quickbooks update.
However, as I just posted, the problem has returned after my computer slept last night. So I guess it's a day by day situation, depending on how Quickbooks feels that day. *insert eye roll*
Thanks for following up with the Community, Trisha36.
I can certainly understand how an ability to use one social security number for multiple employee profiles could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
You can also submit your own feature requests while using QuickBooks.
Here's how:
Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.
As far as switching to a different version of QuickBooks, this is always possible, but you'll want to be aware that an ability to use the same SSN for multiple employee profiles isn't currently possible.
I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have an awesome Tuesday!
So are you going to correct this problem and allow us to have two employee profiles with the same social security number like we have in the past? This is very frustrating and we are currently looking into other software programs that are more user friendly.
Ugh this is so frustrating. Our Accountants are wanting us to switch to different software that is not Quickbooks and that is more user friendly.
I have all of the REQUIRED information in my profile (test profile) but the software is still saying my profile needs to be updated before i can be paid. This is a nightmare as I need to pay employees in just a few hours.
I know how important it is for you to process your employee's pay timely, LGurley. I'm here to assist you in completing the setup of your employees to proceed with your tasks.
I appreciate your time and effort to gather all the required information when creating a test profile. Since the system still asks you to update the details, I recommend contacting support to review your record and determine what's causing this issue.
