Join nowTwo new employees are marked as needing more informaton. When I go to their details everything is there. I can't find any place where more details are needed. I'm unable to run payroll due to this. Can anyone help?
thanks!
I'll work with you to resolve the employees' information error you have in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll, @Labrsq. This way, you can run your payroll and pay them on time.
This employees information error can sometimes be caused by the browser's overtime collection of data from frequent page visits. To isolate this matter, you can perform some troubleshooting steps.
You can start by pulling up your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:
Once signed in, go to the Payroll menu to run your payroll. If you're able to do so, return to your default browser and clear its cache. This will refresh the system and remove older data that causes viewing and performances issue. However, if this matter continues, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.
Also, there are several payroll reports you can use to view helpful information about your business finances and employees' details. To give you the complete lists of available payroll reports in QBO, I'd recommend checking out this article: Run payroll reports. It also includes steps about customizing, printing, and marking them as your favorite.
Please keep me posted on how it goes. In case you have other payroll concerns or inquiries about managing employees in QBO, just let me know in the comments below. I'll be glad to help. Take care always.
I have tried this already, in addition to clearing my cache, but still no luck. The two new employees are still in question
Let's sort this out, @Labrsq.
You'll see a yellow exclamation mark on the employee's name if there are missing data. To isolate this issue, you may need to further check the information field of your employee in their profiles. From there, ensure that there is no section you missed to enter any details. Let me guide you how:
For your reference about this, you can open this article: Edit or change employee info in payroll.
However, if verified that there are no sections you missed to input details and still getting the same error, I suggest reaching out to our Customer Care team. With their tools, they can verify what information you need to enter and guide you through the process.
QuickBooks Online also allows you to let your employees view their pay stubs or input their personal details. To do this, you have to invite them to QuickBooks Workforce. This will also let them access and view their W-2s.
You can always reach back out to us here in the Community if you have additional concerns about filling out employee's information. Take care and have a good one.
That's just it. There is nothing missing. No exclamation points when I dig into each person. It just won't let me move forward

I'm having the same issue right now. What was the resolution?
Hello there, alynchy.
Let me share some additional steps to help you run payroll.
You'll want to make sure that all of the employee details are entered by following the steps provided by my colleague DivinaMercy_N. If an employee has a residence that is different from the work location, you might be prompted to set up the tax information of that state.
Here's how:
Once done, go back to Payroll > Employees and click on the Run payroll button. You can also find the steps in this article: Process or run payroll.
After running your payroll, you can inform your employees to view their paychecks online. Here's a link that you can provide them for reference: View your paychecks and W-2s in QuickBooks Workforce.
When you're ready to pay your taxes, you can find the steps here.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. I'm always around to share the solutions. Take care and stay safe.
I spent 3 hours on the phone with Quickbooks the other day solving this. I had a situation where ALL employee information was entered, but QBO still wouldn't run payroll - it kept saying the employee information was incomplete. Turns out that because my business is located in Massachusetts, I had to enter up my PFML account number (even though in QBO it says it's optional). Then, I had to go into the employee's W-4 form and enter the percentages paying were towards medical leave and family leave. Finally, once all that was entered, I was able to run payroll.
Hi, So I just had the same thing happen and I went in and deleted the employees address and retyped it and then selected the dropdown that auto populated for his address and it worked. Hopefully this works for the next person who runs into this issues!
