WA state SOC codes that have been entered into QuickBooks Desktop 2022

I have entered the WA SOCs that are now required for my 4th quarter state unemployment reporting.  In the past I have uploaded the state SUI details into an Excel spreadsheet that I would copy to create the upload file.  I tested that recently on a client whose payroll is now complete for the quarter, and QBs did not upload the SOCs that were entered for this employer.  How do I access those codes, and is it possible to still create an Excel SS to edit for my CSV upload?  Thanks.

Thank you for visiting the Community today, JAT1967.

Let's get you connected to the right channel that can properly address your payroll concern.

We'll have to check the CSV file to determine the cause of the issue. However, this requires us to gather personal data to access an account, including the company file.

Since the security of your information always comes first, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team. One of our specialists will perform a screen-sharing session and review your payroll data from there. When the issue has been identified, they will assist you in implementing the real-time solution.

To obtain the support information:

  1. In your company file, go to the Help menu at the top bar and choose Contact Us.
  2. Type a brief description of the issue, like, encountering an issue customizing a statement, and select Continue.
  3. Sign in to your Intuit account and click Continue and then Continue with my account.
  4. If you don't already have an account, make sure to Create a new account.
  5. We'll email you a single-use code enter it and select Continue.
  6. If you have more than one account, select the account you want to use and then Continue.
  7. Select any of the following options: Chat with us or Have us call you.

You can go over this reference to learn more about how to enter your state's occupational codes: Set up occupational codes.

To help you stay on top of your taxes and forms, I've included a link that contains a list of dates when you should process your payroll forms as well as the tasks you'll need to complete: Year-end checklist for QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

Keep me posted if you have additional questions about processing your payroll forms or other payroll-related processes. I'll get back to help you and make sure you're taken care of, JAT1967.

Thank you!  I figured out how to input the codes into QBs, so they are there.  I need to know how to pull the information in a format that I can use to generate the .csv upload files without having to hand enter the codes.

I know a way for you to get the necessary payroll information without having to enter the codes in QuickBooks Desktop, @JAT1967. Allow me to guide you through it.

You may get the required information by running the UI QTD report from the Payroll Center without entering any codes. I'll show you how:

  1. Open the Employees menu.
  2. Click on Payroll Center.
  3. Go to the File Forms section.
  4. Select UI QTD - Report to Complete Employer's Quarterly UI Return.

WA state SOC codes that have been entered into QuickBooks Desktop 2022

Hi Mich,

Thanks for this input; I pulled up the report for one of my many payroll clients, and this format will not work for WA State SUI.  The state of WA requires that employee data be uploaded to their website in Excel .csv format.  We are not allowed to send a paper form, and never mind the fact the listing for the employees is not in the correct format for the Wage Listing Detail.  It should be SSN / LASTNAME / FIRSTNAME / MIDDLEINITIAL / SUFFIX / HOURS / WAGES / OCCUPATIONAL CODES.  Is there any way to fast-track a fix for QBs desktop 2022 in order to allow the Excel report that we always pull for State Wage List include the SOCs that have already been entered?

Thanks for getting back to this thread, @JAT1967.

For now, the option to create a fast track that would allow SOCs (that have already been entered) to be included in Excel is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2022.

I can see how this option would be helpful for you in submitting your employee's data. Thus, I'll take note of this as a suggestion to help improve your experience in QuickBooks.

You can also send feedback to our product developers. That way, they can review your suggestions and include them in future updates. Here's how:

  1. Go to Help and select Send Feedback Online.
  2. Click Product Suggestion, then enter your feedback.
  3. Select Send Feedback.

Please let me know how else I can help you with QuickBooks. I've got your back and am always happy to help. Keep safe!

WA state SOC codes that have been entered into QuickBooks Desktop 2022

Hi Raymond, is there any way to pull the codes have been entered through payroll setup under each employee other than the UI QTD report Desktop 2022?  (Which, by the way doesn't give the codes for employees who are over the state UI limit for the year, and even though they are over the limit, we still need to submit their gross wages for the quarter.)

Thanks

I appreciate you getting back to this thread, @JAT1967.

For us to pull up the occupational codes from each of your employees, we'll have to open it through the payroll setup. The employee's codes will have to show in the payroll tax form to enable you to submit your filing in a .csv file format.

As a workaround, let's have your payroll tax form printed and manually gather or encode them in an excel file. Also, to add more employee codes to your file, we'll have to run the payroll setup individually for each employee.

Also, there are specific states that require occupational codes. For your reference, I've added an article you can visit: Set up occupational codes for employees.

WA state SOC codes that have been entered into QuickBooks Desktop 2022

I already have set up the codes under each employee through payroll set up.  I did that last month.

If I am understanding correctly, my only work around is to print out the UI quarterly report that will not work, and manually get the occupational codes by going back through the payroll setup for each employee I am missing the code for.  All this is really making me dislike QuickBooks; your team never really did good research to assist all of us tax preparers to be able to successfully submit the data in the necessary format to the state of WA.

I can see how you want to generate a report in the correct format so you can submit your data directly to your state, JAT1967.

For now, the closest report that you can use so you can get the necessary payroll information is the UI QTD report. You'll want to send a request to our Product Team to let them know that being able to customize a report which would fit a specific state's requirement or to the state of WA is beneficial to your business.  To send feedback, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select the Send Feedback Online option.
  3. Select the Product Suggestion option. A pop-up window displays.

  4. Enter your feedback suggestion.
  5. Click the Send Feedback button.

Moreover, QuickBooks provides different payroll and employee reports that help you manage payroll and keep track of employee expenses. Learn from this article for your future reference: Customize Payroll And Employee Reports.
