I read that if you have QuickBook online that QB automatically files your new hire report with the state.
What Confirmation does QB give that they filed the NEW HIRE form with the state?
I access Payroll through https://app.qbo.intuit.com.
From the HELP FILE:
If you have QuickBooks Online Payroll, we file the new hire forms with your state for you.
Some states may require you to file new hire forms for independent contractors. QuickBooks Online Payroll doesn't support new hire reporting for independent contractors. Contact your state for requirements.
Hi LDO,
QuickBooks Online Payroll provides a confirmation number when it files the NEW HIRE form with your state. This confirmation number serves as proof that the form has been successfully submitted. You can usually find this number in the confirmation email sent by QuickBooks. It doesn't matter if your Auto Payroll feature is turned on or not.
I'm adding these articles that will provide you with further information and insights on the next steps that you want to check:
If you have any specific questions or concerns regarding your NEW HIRE form filing, I recommend reaching out again. I'll be happy to continue lending a hand.
The state of Alabama confirmed that they never received anything from QB on this new hire?
Nor do I see a confirmation number. This man was hire at the end of JULY.
Why did QB not send the new hire to the state of Alabama?
Please Help.
Thank you!

HyKeem a QB specialist called me back. It took almost an hour and time on hold but here is what he told me.
1.you do need to have Tax filings turned "ON" to have the New HIre report automatically sent to state.
2. QB no longer prints the New HIre report at the employee tab.. NOW you have to go to reports and print the employee detail report. This report has the info I will need when I log into the State's new hire website.
3. If I turn the the tax Automatic tax forms to ON then the next New Hire report should be automatically sent to the state.
so there is no confirmation from QBO that the New Hire report has been filed?????
It is such a simple report, why are there no clear answers on this?
If an employee does self setup for workforce and checks the "new hire reporting box" then QB thinks the report was done. The employee doesnt know any better and the employer has NO WAY OF KNOWING that the employee checked this box during self setup.
Please remove the New hIre reporting box so that new employees do not see this option.
Please create a report that shows when QB submitted the new hire report to the state.
Thanks
