Hello everyone.
I appreciate you taking the time to share the steps you've already tried to fix this error with us. I'll be happy to get you to the right support to get this resolved.
Since you get the same result after trying some of the basic troubleshooting steps to open your QuickBooks Desktop file, I suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Care Support. They can initiate a screen sharing session to check what's causing this, and get to a resolution quickly.
Here’s how you can reach them:
That should get you back on track. Please know that the Community has your back if you need assistance. Wishing you and your business continued success.
I have spoken to support. They said that this was a "known issue," but that they could not help me because the years affected are too old (2013 and 2014). They said that I should google the issue or they could direct me to the user forums for support. Here I am.
Please help!
I'm here to help you resolve the error message when installing QuickBooks Desktop 2013 and 2014, josua.
May I know the specific error you've encountered or the troubleshooting that you've tried to resolve this error? Knowing so will help us isolate the problem. Meanwhile, I can share some recommended steps that can help you install QuickBooks Desktop.
Installation of QuickBooks Desktop requires you to enter a license number and a product code to complete the validation process. If the encrypted file containing the information is damaged, QuickBooks might display an error message or it won't open. Deleting the entitlement file and re-entering your license and product information will help us resolve the issue.
Here's how:
Delete the EntitlementDataStore.ecml file
Just a friendly reminder, standalone QuickBooks Desktop has a three-year supported life span. It means that QuickBooks Desktop 2013 and 2014 are no longer supported. However, let's still give this a try, and see if the steps above will work.
Please let me know how this turns out. I'm to here provide you additional assistance if you need anything else. Have a good one.
Thanks a lot for posting it.

The articles on this thread are all working, kjlea. Thus, you might need to refresh your browser (F5) or do a few troubleshooting steps.
Though cache files can boost browser processes, they can also cause unexpected issues. Let's get rid of the error and make sure you can view these articles.
Let me know if you need more help with this. Have a great day!
Hi 2411,
If you've already followed the steps about deleting the ECML file, as stated in the previous answers, please contact our Support. That way, they can use a screen-sharing tool to see your setup and investigate this further. If you haven't, please do so. However, please note that you'll need to go through the re-registration process after deleting the file. Thus, if you don't have a copy of your registration numbers, please call our Support first before doing any steps.
If there's anything that we can help you today, please feel free to give us a short reply below.
Please call me at [removed phone no.]. Thank you

Go to the Help menu and ask the call back from there. If someone call your numbers directly, they are scammers.
