Hey Mike (@bigmikeg92)
Good evening to you as well. Let's get you rolling.
Are you using QuickBooks Online? You can access QBO from the web and should not require a download, all you need are your Intuit Login Credentials - I am asking because of the chosen label on the post.
If you're trying to install QuickBooks Desktop, we have you covered as well :). Are you getting an error code? If so, which are you seeing?
The first thing you can try is the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool to resolve Microsoft .NET, MSXML, and C++ issues, it's designed to identify and automatically fix common issues.

Is there a fix to QB Pro 2020 Desktop freezing up when used on a Surface Pro X
Hello Dianeoffutt,
QuickBooks Desktop 2020 can perform to its maximum output if you meet the system requirements.
Otherwise, you will encounter performance issues when using the program. I'd recommend reaching out your IT personnel to ensure the you've meet necessary requirements.
Meanwhile, you can follow the troubleshooting steps in this article to fix issues when using the program: Fix QuickBooks Desktop install errors.
Feel free to get back to us if you need anything else.
@Dianeoffutt Have you found a way to get the QB Desktop running in the Surface Pro X? I am also struggling with the same problem with QB POS.
Hi jecalderon,
I believe you've been through the steps that my colleagues shared above. So, we'll have your setup checked with Support. They can view your screen to understand the issue better.
Currently, we've tested QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 18.0 on my Surface Pro 3 and 4. If you're having issues, please contact our POS team.
After speaking with the POS team, you can let them transfer the conversation to our QuickBooks Support team.
Let me know if you have other questions about QuickBooks.
This is so good to see others having same issue as me. Im going to try above suggestion/s:)
So I spoke to Quickbooks who told me I need processor speed minimum of 2.4....I'm using Surface Pro 7 - processor Quad-core 10th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-1035G4 Processor
Can someone please verify for me? I struggle to believe my processor is not up to running Quickbooks without a lagging issue
Can I uninstall Quikcbooks Pro 2017 & then re-install it without losing any of my accounting data please? Im trying to identify if QB is causing the lagging issue? Thks
Hi @Bm,
I have some information about how you can fix QuickBooks performance issue. While we don't have a limit on the company data file, QuickBooks' performance decreases as the size of the company file increases. With this, have several recommendations to resolve performance issues.
Here are the following:
Reduce the size of the company file
Optimize QuickBooks operations
Maintain lists
I recommend checking this article for the instructions: Resolve QuickBooks Desktop performance issues: Manage your data file.
Additionally, you can optimize your network interface card (NIC) settings by following these steps below:

Believe it or not, I've fixed it. Instead of using a Surface keyboard, I bought a wired keyboard and now everything appears to be working perfectly.l I don't really understand how, but all seems to be well. Im open to any other options always:)
I was getting the same error as I shifted to another device and trying to install it on the new device but I kept getting some kind of error.
Thanks for letting us know about this installation hurdle you're experiencing, @merasemu321.
