Join nowI was running QB Premier 2021 and this morning I get an error trying to open the program. Error 80029c4a. We purchased the program through techsoup.org and It is licensed. When I tried to search my account it found the license number for 2021 but when I tried to re-download the program it keeps giving me the 2017 version. This is beyond frustrating. My license page will show a download link under the 2017 version but not 2021....was this version somehow different? Help!!!
Hello there, John. I know that this hasn't been easy on your end. We understand the importance of having a seamless process when accessing the program. I'd be glad to help fix the error you encounter.
Beforehand, this error code generally occurs when a company file has been corrupted or unable to locate when users try to open their software. To help you resolve this issue, we recommend the following steps:
Let's ensure to update QuickBooks Desktop to its latest release. If you still get the error, even with an updated QuickBooks release, you can check your antivirus software. Some antivirus programs accidentally block QuickBooks from loading essential files. Check the area of your program that lists blocked files (sometimes called your “quarantine”).
If you see any of the programs listed below in your quarantine, give them permission to go through your firewall.
If that doesn’t work, let's perform a clean install of QuickBooks Desktop. This will refresh the program files causing Error 80029c4a, and won’t affect your data.
Furthermore, if none of these steps resolve the error, we can restart your computer, sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Close all programs and restart your computer before opening QuickBooks again.

Can you login to your CAMPS as the Primary Contact?
This won't work as I cannot even open the program to update it. It crashed trying to open. My online accounts page shows both the 2017 and 2021 versions but I only see a link to reinstall the 2017 version but it won't open my company file as it was created with version 2021.
Ok, what is CAMPS?
We appreciate you getting back in on this thread, JohnSeed. Let me share additional insights to help you rectify and ensure you'll be able to work with your QuickBooks tasks.
I recognize the relevance and urgency of getting things resolved. Since refreshing the program files with the steps shared above doesn't work on your end, we can manually uninstall QuickBooks and rename its installation folders to help us start with a clean slate. Here's how:
