How do I align my preprinted checks to print properly? They are 1cm too high

I can guide you on how to align your preprinted check, mvob.

For printing preprinted check that is too high, you can choose a letter further down the list to move the information down the page. For your guidelines, you can go to Printing too high section in this article: How to align preprinted paychecks.

If the same thing happens, you'll need to re-align your preprinted check stock and print it again. You can follow the steps and details in the Align and print your preprinted check stock section in the article I've provided.

Feel free to reply to this post if you have additional questions. I'm here to help.

How do I align my preprinted checks to print properly? They are 1cm too high

Thank you for your reply.  I did read the article.  When I click on Payroll Settings, I don't have the Preferences option to go further with the fix.  My Payroll Settings then has Email Preferences, Shared Data, Bank Accounts and Accounting.  Completely stumped.

Allow me to jump into this conversation, mvob.

Thanks for the detailed information about what's on your Payroll Settings page. I can see that you're using Intuit Online Payroll (IOP), so let's get this sorted out.

To align preprinted paychecks, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Setup and choose Preferences.
  2. Select Paycheck Printing Settings.
  3. On the Paycheck Printing Settings page, choose the Preprinted QuickBooks®-compatible voucher check stock radio button.
  4. Select either Print 2 stubs or Print 1 stub and click on OK.
  5. Click on the Open Alignment Window button. If you're using Chrome and a blank page appears, or a message to turn on Chrome plugins appears after selecting Open Alignment Window, here's what you'll need to do:

    • In your Chrome browser, select the Menu icon below the X button.
    • Click on Settings and choose Advanced.
    • Choose Content settings and click on PDF documents.
Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome should be turned off.

  6. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  7. Click on Align Checks.

To help you with the process, please see screenshots below for your visual reference.

How do I align my preprinted checks to print properly? They are 1cm too high

Thank you for all the suggestions.  It seems I have the high level payroll service and am not set up to make changes.  Quickbooks does it for me.  I spent 10 minutes on the phone and my issue was remedied.  Thank you again.

How do I align my preprinted checks to print properly? They are 1cm too high

My check printing need to be aligned each and every time I use Quickbooks online, is there a solution to the very annoying glitch in the software?

How do I align my preprinted checks to print properly? They are 1cm too high

Hi there, @support15.

Let me share some details on how to resolve this all at once.

To make sure that your browser can save cache data from QuickBooks, let's clear the storage so we can collect the new web files to the computer's memory. Older internet files may have prevented the latest changes, that's why we need to free up some memory space.

Before that, make sure to save the last action made (fix print alignment for preprinted checks) so that we'll know if internet files from QuickBooks are retrieved.

You can refer to this article for the detailed steps: How do I clear my browser cache and temporary Internet files? It includes the steps for other supported browsers like Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge.

Once done, you can sign back in to QuickBooks and check the setting.

You might also check our system requirements for QuickBooks Online to enjoy a seamless experience in using our web application.

Feel free to place a comment if you need further assistance. I'll keep my notifications open. Stay safe and well!
