Efile IRS 10 digit pin

Solution that worked:  I called the IRS e-file help desk (866-255-0654) this morning, 8-1-22 because QB did not automatically put my 10 digit PIN in when I tried to submit, and I couldn't find the correspondence from 2015 when I applied for it.  I had no wait time, was immediately helped by a very nice lady who said that I was her 3rd person asking for this today.  She verified that I had a PIN, and is mailing it to me.  She could not give it to me over the phone, so I am mailing this 941 directly to the IRS.

I am having the same issue. How did you resolve?  I have been e-filing my 941 since 2018. Today when I went to file, it was grayed out. I have my pin and I verified with the IRS it is still active.  When I attempted to continue it went through as though I had never filed and it was rejected. If we have our pin where do we get the submit to stop being gray so we can enter?

Hi, I have my PIN but the IRS agency rejected all the time with error R0000-157 for 941. It said that my PIN doesn't go with my EIN. PIN and EIN I received from IRS. I need to e-file 941 ASAP!

Thank you for joining the thread, EEO.

Only the IRS has information about your PIN. I did some research on their website, and these are steps that you can follow to retrieve your PIN.

  1. Go to the IRS website.
  2. In the search bar in the top right, search "Get an E-File PIN".
  3. Select this article: Get An Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN).
  4. Scroll down to the Lost IP PINs section and click Retrieve your IP PIN in blue text. The article will give you information on how to retrieve your PIN online.

Once you have the PIN, you can enter it in QuickBooks as you do the usual process for E-filing your forms.

Feel free to go back to this thread if you have questions about filing your forms through QuickBooks. Take care and have a good one!

Efile IRS 10 digit pin

I apparently have a 10-digit pin, as I have filed many tax forms.  However, I do not know the number, as it appears as * when e-filing.  My hope is that QB can tell me how to retrieve an existing number within the QB system.  Otherwise I will be late in filing my annual forms.  Is there a way to retrieve an existing 10-digit code within Quick Books payroll system?  Thanks!

Efile IRS 10 digit pin

Hello, dvm01112023.

I'd like to take this opportunity and give some details in retrieving your 10-digit pin for filing.

We're unable to retrieve the 10-digit pin within QuickBooks itself. This information is encrypted for security purposes.

As what my colleague, JessT, mentioned, we'll want to contact the IRS to retrieve the 10-digit pin for efiling. We can follow their steps in reaching out to them.

Alternatively, we can also use the phone number posted in this article: Set up Federal e-file and e-pay in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced (scroll down to Lost 10-digit E-file PIN/Rejected Enrollment).

After working with the IRS for your pin, you can start efiling your forms as soon as you receive it. However if the delivery time doesn't quite agree with your due dates, let's manually file your forms in the meantime.

We'll want to follow the steps outline in this article: Pay and file payroll taxes and forms manually in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll

I'm sure your hands are full during the tax season. If you need to check and verify your employees' data for the next quarter in the future, feel free to take a look at this article: Create a payroll summary report in QuickBooks

If you have some other questions about your tax forms, let me know and I'll help you out again. Need a hand in managing your entries, other reports, and lists? Add the details to your reply, and I'll address them accordingly.

You say to enter the 10 digit account number/pin BUT you do not say how to find it on the IRS form, that account number is more than 10 digits. I do believe that is what they are asking. Me too.

Your help is Greatly Appreciated

I'm here to share additional information with the 10-digit E-file PIN, @Chappy1.

You'll get the 10-digit E-file PIN after enrolling on the IRS e-file program. After the IRS receives your enrollment, you’ll get a 10-digit e-file PIN by mail. If you didn’t get a 10-digit e-file pin or are unsure where you can find it in the mail that you've received, I suggest reaching out to the IRS E-file services for further guidance. You can get their phone number by checking out this article: Handle payroll e-file and e-pay rejections. Just scroll down to the Don’t know your PIN? Contact the IRS part.

Then, follow the steps outlined in this article: E-file and e-pay federal forms and taxes in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced for more information on how to set up, e-pay, e-pay, and e-file your federal forms.

From here, you can now check an e-file and the e-payment status. See this article for more information: Check e-file or e-pay status. It'll guide you on how to check the status and identify what it means.

Let me know if you need further information about the 10-digit e-file PIN. I'm always here to answer them for you. Enjoy the rest of the week!

I have this information, it was sent to me when I set up to E-File, our Quarterly reports. When to IRS sends you, your 4 digit pin (I currently use this to make my employer tax payments) right below that is an Enrollment number that is 18 numbers long, 10 of that is supposed to be our 10 digit pin for E-Filing tax forms, from what I was to understand. I used to be able to E-File our Tax forms, now I cannot? When I go to send my 941 E-File it ask for my 10 digit pin, that I received from the IRS (EFTPS) I don't know what 10 numbers need to be entered into QB off of that letter?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, you need the 10 digit pin every time you e-file, Chappy1.

I would suggest reaching out to the IRS so they can provide the PIN for you.

You can ask for a new one through the IRS website if it's missing or lost. Once your enrollment for E-file services is approved, IRS will provide you a 10-digit PIN that you need to enter every time you e-file Federal Forms in QuickBooks Desktop.

In QuickBooks, make sure you have the most recent payroll update. This is to help prevent any disruptions while processing your E-file/E-pay in QuickBooks.

I have resources here that help guide you when enrolling and filing federal and state payroll taxes successfully in QuickBooks. Visit them each for further information:

Thank you everyone. I have my pin and know it.  Something happened that Quickbooks wasn't recognizing that I had already setup through them.  It is now working so no problem.  Thanks everyone!

We appreciate you for joining in on this thread, @cooptree.

When you file forms electronically, you can enter the 10-digit PIN in the Enter agency login information screen.

To do that:

  1. Go to the Employees menu and select Payroll Center.
  2. Click the File Forms tab.
  3. Select the form you need to file and select File Form.
  4. Choose the form filing period and click OK.
  5. Select the Check for Errors button and make the necessary corrections.
  6. Click the Submit Form button, then select E-file.
  7. Enter the 10-Digit PIN.
  8. Select the Remember my information for next time box to save the new info.

Moreover, here's an article if you've received a notice from the IRS that your e-filed tax form or e-payment was rejected: Handle payroll e-file and e-pay rejections. It contains details of why they're denied and the necessary steps to fix them.

Feel free to swing by the Community if you need further assistance entering your new pin in QBDT. We're always around to help you anytime.

I sent a request to e-file forms on 1/25/23 and never received the 10-digit pin from the IRS. I have the QB Enrollment Confirmation printed but nothing. It says Intuit will submit to the IRS....did they?

I know the IRS has told me before, they do not give out 10-digit pins over the phone....go back to Intuit.

So I'm going to have to mail another quarterly return to the IRS.

Frustrated too.

Happy to welcome you to the growing Community of QuickBooks, @Debbie7787. I will share some thoughts about your 10-digit pins.

The PIN is obtained when enrolling in QuickBooks Desktop's E-file service and is distinct from the EFIN/ERO. If you do not receive or have misplaced this PIN, you must contact the IRS to inquire about the status of your application. To do so, go to the following website: https://www.eftps.gov/eftps/

For more details, please see the following article: E-file and e-pay federal forms and taxes in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Enhanced.

I also have a resource here that can assist you in effectively enrolling and filing federal and state payroll taxes in QuickBooks. Visit the article for further information: Check e-file or e-pay status.

Please leave a note if you have any queries or need clarification about QuickBooks. I'm always there to assist. Take care!
