Manual entry of transactions

I had a cyber attach and had to convert all my account number.  What the bank did not inform me was that I would lose all my old data feeds so that I can work off bank feeds.  So how do I add transactions manually and ensure that they get to correct projects and accounts

Manual entry of transactions

I've got your back to help add transactions manually in your QuickBooks account, @Jonnybegood.

In QuickBooks, there are various ways to enter and track transactions. You can create a sales form, like an invoice or sales receipt, to capture the entire business cycle.

You can also add transactions manually while working in your account register. This saves time if you're reviewing your Chart of accounts and need to make a quick addition. To do this, here's what you need to do:

  1. Proceed to Settings ⚙ and choose Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the account register you want to review.
  3. Click View register from the Actions column.
  4. At the top of the list, select the Add journal entry, Add check, or Add deposit ▼ dropdown menu.

  5. Choose the type of transaction you want to add.
  6. Fill out the fields to complete the transaction.
  7. Once done, click Save.

Additionally, I've attached an article you can utilize to help locate transactions in your account registers so you can examine or modify them: Find, review, and edit transactions in account registers in QuickBooks Online.

Fill me in if you have further question about entering transactions manually in QuickBooks. I'm always around to help you out. Have a good day!

Thank you for your answer.  Is that all I need to do.

Let me explain my situation a bit better.  I had to get new account numbers but for some reason all the older transactions are no longer available.  So I have a Credit or debit card reciept how do I enter that so that it gets credited to my project, the correct accounts and the debits and credits balance?

Thanks for getting back with the Community, Jonnybegood.

I can confirm the process mentioned by Rubielyn_J covers how to enter transactions.

To properly identify which transaction type you should enter for debit and/or credit card receipts, I'd recommend working with an accounting professional. If you're in need of one, there's an awesome tool on our website called Find an Accountant. All ProAdvisors listed there are QuickBooks-certified and able to provide helpful insights for driving your business's success.

Here's how it works:

  1. Go to our Find a ProAdvisor page.
  2. Use the City or ZIP search field to specify a location.
  3. Select Find a ProAdvisor.
  4. Browse through your results and find one that works best for the business. You can click on each ProAdvisor's profile to learn more information about them.

Once you've found an accountant, they can be contacted through their Send a message form:

  1. Use the available text box to introduce yourself. Be sure to include details about which services you're looking for.
  2. Enter your appropriate info in the Your nameYour email, and Your phone number (optional) fields.
  3. Hit Send message.

I've also included a few detailed resources about working with transactions which may come in handy moving forward:

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a wonderful day!

I think I made a mistake subscribing to quickbooks.  I do not need receipts or invoices or quickbooks to have access to my bank account. I only want a place to track income and expenses that I enter manually and put the tax categories,   is this possible?  The sales person said it was.. I cannot find anything basic.

@Lenalcs

If you are working solo on a desktop (PC or Mac) to manage your book and only need basic features, you should explore a free program. You can use the program for as long as you like, use all the features and enter as much data as required. There are no time limits, no usage limits, no ads (at this time). This program is quite popular in Asia and Europe.

Good day, Lenalcs.

That's correct. You can easily manage your income, expenses, and even do payroll. QuickBooks Online also has basic workflows for your customers and vendors. It also helps you keep your accounts organized and monitor your taxes so you can make your tax returns much easier.

It is also user-friendly and can be accessed through different devices such as desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile phones. You may also choose to integrate other applications to easily manage your transactions and other data.

After you signed up for an account, you'll go through different questions that will help you set up your company for the first time. You also have the option to connect your bank or credit card accounts to download transactions so you can track your income and expenses more efficiently.
