There's actually an option to not enter your phone number when you access your account. Just click the Skip for now hypertext, and sign in QuickBooks.
Feel free to join us back here when you have additional questions.
There is no Skip For Now button.
Hello corkydehey,
With the updated Terms of Service of QuickBooks Online, the system now requires you to add your phone number for security purposes. This can be used for the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) process to confirm the identity of the user. Hence, we no longer see the Skip For Now option.
You can also go to the 5.3. Telephone numbers section of the Terms of Service to know more about this. Here's how:
If the system asks for the Two-step verification every time you log in to your QuickBooks Online account, we can disable it through your Intuit account. Here's how:
We'll get back to you if you need any assistance in navigating the program Have a great day!
This is unacceptable. There is no valid reason for requiring people to incur the expense of text messages simply to use your product. Especially when I have already paid for a subscription to use your product.
The reality is that your company cares nothing about "added security" and is only demanding access to cell phone numbers because phone numbers have become the best new way technology companies track individuals behaviors across multiple platforms. It's become like a digital social security number, allowing divergent companies to collate and consolidate all of your behaviors, for collaborative data mining.
Our clients can put any dummy numbers if they don't need to get any verification code by text message.
That is a lie. Access is wholly denied without inputting a verification code received via text. No option or opportunity to opt out of enhanced verification is permitted.
I agree....I am having the same issue.
I did not agree to any updated terms. This should have been done prior to draft of my payment.
At this point how do I get my books out and cancel service.
Thanks for following on this thread, @dbryson27.

Any time you sign in to an existing Intuit account on an unrecognized computer or device, we'll ask you to verify your identity first. That’s why you’ll see a window to enter a phone number or email address to confirm your identity.
However, you have to turn off the verification feature. Here's how:
Follow any on-screen instructions to complete your request.
If you still want to cancel your subscription, let share the steps on how to accomplish the task. Here's how:
To get your data, use the Export to Excel feature. The following guide provides detailed instructions on how to transfer reports, lists, and non-posting transactions: Export reports, lists, and more.

QBO Accountant is asking for entering a mobile number but I can't see my country name PAKISTAN there. please suggest me any solution or allow my county name there.
Thank you,

Glad to have you here in the Community, @Cloudlance Accounting.
The phone number that you can enter in QuickBooks Online will depend on the region that you've signed up for. If you are using QBO for the US, you'll need to enter a US phone number.
However, your business is located in Pakistan, you have to subscribe to a Pakistan version of QuickBooks Online. This way, you'll be able to enter your phone number and utilize the region-specific program.
To do this, you may cancel your current subscription and select Pakistan upon subscribing to a new account.
Here's how cancel your account:
The following is a brief video to serve as an example of this process:
Once done, you can now sign up for a new account specific for Pakistan. Just select your country in this link and follow the process to create your account: QuickBooks Online International.
Lastly, you can always scan through this article to give you more tips on how to navigate QBO with its great features: Get started with QuickBooks Online International.
I'm always here to help if there's anything else that you need. Just let me know by leaving a reply below. Have a good one!
Why do you need to have a QBOA US version? Do you need to support a client using QBO US version or else?
I have a US-based business (and all my bank accounts are there) but I live outside the States and no longer maintain a US cell phone. What options do I have for creating a US Quickbooks account?
You'll want to create an account where you're living, boneycur.
Select the country you're in, https://quickbooks.intuit.com/choose-country/. You can still connect your US bank accounts from there.
Here's an article for the details in connecting your account: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.
Check out this article for future reference: Turn on and use multicurrency.
I'll be here if you have additional questions.
Thanks for the quick response, Mary Lurleen!
It appears that if I create the account in Mexico, I'm stuck with a Spanish-language interface. I'm not particularly experienced with accounting, so I'm already behind the curve with understanding bookkeeping. As such, I'd prefer to have the interface and accounting terms be in English.
Also, I assume that the tips and hints will be for Mexican businesses based on the tax laws here. But I pay taxes in the US, so they won't be helpful...in fact, they might be distracting.
Before I create a Mexico-based account, do you know if I'll be able to set the account language as English and customize the account for US accounting and tax tips?
Thanks!
Hi @boneycur,
Thank you for your prompt reply. I'll share some insight on your query about the type of QuickBooks Online (QBO) subscription you should have.
Since you pay your taxes in the United States, you'll need the US version of QBO. With that said, you'll need to fill up the necessary fields with the correct information. For example, a US phone number for your QBO company.
After that, I'll leave this article with you: Set up your sales tax. It's a detailed guide on how you can add your sales tax rates and agencies.
Please know that you're always welcome to post here in the Community if you have other concerns with your QBO account.
If you have to open a new QBO account, make sure to click the Buy button to get the discounted price for up to 3 months. If you purchase from the Trial account, you have to pay the regular rate.

I am not getting the option to skip the phone number. I don't live in the US and the countries that are options are not where I am living. I now have a year's subscription to a tool I can't get into. How can I get around this please?
Hello, gooBjut.

Where do you live now? How did you open the account without a phone number?
pay my missed payment for payroll
Hi there, @mattmalan22.
Thanks for following the thread and sharing your concerns. I'm happy to lend a hand with your missed payment for payroll.
To clarify, are you referring to payroll tax payments? If so, I've included some steps to record payroll tax payments below. However, please know if you pay a tax after the due date (sometimes called the delinquent date or cutoff date), you may owe a penalty and interest. If you owe a penalty or interest, you will not need to include them when recording the payment in Intuit Online Payroll.
Here's how to record payroll tax payments for Intuit Online Payroll Enhanced:
If you aren't using Intuit Online Payroll Enhanced, check out Make payroll tax payments for the steps of your payroll service.
Additionally, you can take a look at the articles I've attached below to learn more about missed tax payments.
Please let me know if you have further questions or concerns, or if you weren't referring to payroll tax. I'll be here every step of the way. Have a wonderful day ahead!
Well put, I will not recommend QBO to anyone because of this. I only use it because of my bookkeeper and will see if there is a way I can work around QB.
These options have all be disabled. You must enter a phone number when setting up a new user and the skip is being removed also. The offline is being discontinued from March 22 also which is rubbish because the internet is not always available in my area, and sometimes my phone does not have enough service to run anything. Welcome to regional Australia where Telstra does not care.
