QBD 2022 ONLY USES IE 11 ALSO so it's not even fixed!! Found out after I thought an upgrade would fix the issue. It didn't.

Then go to your C: Drive and go to the following directory

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories

There you will see the following file: Internet Explorer.lnk  Rename it Internet Explorer_OLD.lnk

Then Paste into that directory the desktop shortcut of the browser you use the most.

then rename that shortcut Internet Explorer.lnk

There is no "Accessories" folder located there; there is a "Windows Accessories" folder with the Internet Explorer.lnk file.  I tried the "paste and rename" process with Microsoft Edge.lnk, but QB is still pulling up IE 11 when I try to do Bank Feeds.  So no joy ... still!

So, I just got Quickbooks Pro Plus 2022 Desktop version 2 months ago. I use Google Chrome for a brosser. Do I have to change anything to continue to get updates?

Glad to have you join us on this thread, Mrrosco659.

As of June 10, 2022, all supported versions of QuickBooks Desktop will now be using a new built-in browser that replaces Internet Explorer 11. It’s reliable and will include critical security updates.

If the feature isn't added in your QuickBooks 2022 edition, I'd recommend updating the program. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and then select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Select the Update Now tab.
  3. Check all of the updates from the list.
  4. Proceed with the Get Update button, then wait for the download to finish.
  5. Follow the prompts to complete the update process.

Please note that updates will be provided if and when they become available. For more details, please see this article: New Custom Internal Browser.

Additionally, I've added an article that'll guide you in managing your bank transactions in QuickBooks Desktop. This helps you in keeping them in the correct accounts: Add and Match Bank Feed Data.

Please let me know if you need clarification about this or if there's anything else I can do for you. I'll be waiting for your response.

You do realize that SUCKS, everyone on the Planet Earth knows IE 11 has been discontinued and no longer supported by Microsoft, and I guess Intuit didn't get that email or memo, or is it Intuit is too lazy to update the software with a patch for their PAYING customers, that's my observation and I am sticking to it...

As I figured.  Intuit's still trying to force people to use an unsecure browser that virtually every banking institution no longer supports rather than fix the issue.  God, I =really= hope someone comes out with a better app and puts them out of business.

To use another browser such as Edge (which is Chrome based), Chrome or Firefox (which is Mozilla Netscape Navigator Based), then Aserawera's Solutuon works.  Aserawera used Edge.  I used Firefox.  In Aserawera's solution below he used Edge.

Aserawera's Solution:
"I copied the edge shortcut found on my desktop and placed it where I found IE C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories I then renamed the IE shortcut to _OLD and then renamed the edge shortcut to Internet Explorer

Directory of C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories

01/14/2022 10:11 AM <DIR> .
01/14/2022 10:11 AM <DIR> ..
01/07/2022 06:59 PM 2,440 Internet Explorer.lnk
10/16/2020 05:46 PM 1,338 Internet Explorer_OLD.lnk"

Why are we doing a hack when Intuit should be providing their customers with a patch, MIT just graduated an engineering, programing and IT class recently, perhaps you should hire some of the those bright minds, just maybe they can figure out the problem for you cause it seems like it's too simple for the engineers and programmers at Intuit to do it..

WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM????!!! IE IS GOING TO BE SHUT DOWN IN 2 FREAKING DAYS!!!!  I HAVE 5 COMPANIES RUNNING ON QB DT 2022, AS WELL AS PAYMENTS, PAYROLL, QB TIME, ETC.  IF YOU DO NOT FIX THIS ISSUE I WILL BE CHANGING TO ANOTHER ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE AND WILL RECOMMEND ALL OF MY 100+ CLIENTS DO THE SAME.

Hello, bconnolly.

I would also raise concerns if a critical third-party component is going to be discontinued on a program I'm using. So, I'd like to turn this around and give some details about the soon-to-be discontinued IE11 browser and how we dealt with it.

We recently released a new built-in custom browser that replaces the IE11 browser. Since June 10, 2022 and onwards, all supported and updated QuickBooks Desktop versions will use the custom browser.

If you don't have the custom browser yet in your QuickBooks 2022 edition, then we'll want to update your program to implement it. Here's how to do it:

  1. Click the Help menu, then select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to the Update Now tab.
  3. Check all of the updates from the list.
  4. Proceed with the Get Update button, then wait for the download to finish.
  5. Follow the prompts to complete the update process.

More details about the built-in browser can be found here: Use our built-in browser in QuickBooks Desktop

After getting the new built-in custom browser, do you need help managing your clients' bank transactions from the Bank Feeds? We can take a look at this article for the steps and details: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop

I'm all ears if you have any other concerns regarding the update or any other functions in QuickBooks Desktop. Always here to help.

OK.  So there =is= a "fix".  First question, how secure is it?  Is it based on Chrome, Firefox or Edge, which are, more-or-less, secure, or is it a fully "custom" job?  What does Intuit plan to do if this so-called "custom browser" is found to be at fault for any hacking issues that your customers may have?

Thanks for getting back with the Community, knoxfarm2020.

Intuit's internal browser for QuickBooks is up-to-date with the latest critical security updates and will continue to be updated as necessary. It isn't based on any third-party web browsers and is fully custom.

Here's some of the browser's technical specifications:

  • HTTP end-points are blocked due to security reasons.
  • Accessing QuickBooks data with ActiveX is allowed only with user consent.
  • If an SSL certificate expires, the page isn't blocked from loading. Instead, an unlock message signals expiration and can continue to load it.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with your internal browser which may come in handy moving forward: Use the built-in browser

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a wonderful day!

@Hunter1will

You can still purchase the one time license for QBD 2021 to upgrade your version. Another option, once you encounter any issue on your QBD 2019, consider to reinstall it in Win 7 compatibility mode. An outdated QBD version should be run on an outdated Windows OS.

it's nothing short of a big middle finger in the face of their ever costlier yet very seldomly upgraded sftwr buyers.

Intuit is a Greed Monster of Monstrous proportions..   shoulda bought stock in that instead of Green Energy Spacs, but that's another story.

Only the dirty make it in the Corp world, it seems to my seething self.

Good luck, yeah, you should get your updates when you chose chrome as ur default brows especially if you already have that info gobbler on your devices.

Where can you still purchase the Quickbooks 2021 Desktop Version?  The only desktop version available is 2022 which moved to an annual subscription license which requires you to purchase a new version every year rather than updating every two to three years.

Good evening,

Once I manually updated the program the new browser worked as far as opening and getting to the bank's website.  Now it won't log me in, though.  Error message is attached.  Have you made sure that your browser is compatible with banks?  If not, it will be just as useless as IE.

Let's make sure you'll be able to log in to QuickBooks Desktop, axehead15.

Normally, this happens if QuickBooks is unable to connect to our services online.  You'll want to follow this solution to fix the error. QuickBooks Desktop uses Internet Explorer (IE) to connect to our services online. Here's how:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Select the Gear ⚙️ icon at the top right of the browser window. Or, press the Alt key on your computer to bring up the menu bar, then select the Tools menu.
  3. Select Internet Options from the menu.
  4. Select the Connections tab.
  5. Select the LAN settings button.
  6. Uncheck the checkbox Use a proxy server for your LAN.
  7. Select OK to close the LAN settings window.
  8. Select OK to close the Internet Options window.

You can also use Microsoft Edge as your main web browser replacement if you're not using IE. I've provided the steps below:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.
  2. Select the three dots (...) at the top right of the browser window.
  3. Select Open with Internet Explorer.
  4. Follow the steps above to change the proxy server setting.

However if you're still unable to log in, I  I recommend reaching out to our support team so they can look into this and investigate further. This way, they can also double-check if some users are also experiencing the same thing. Here's how to reach them:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Let's talk, and then choose a way to connect.

Furthermore, learn how to customize our report to make sure you'll get the information you need. Please read this article for your reference: Customize Reports In QuickBooks Desktop.

Reach out to us if you have any other concerns about logging in to your account. We're here to further assist you.

No, this isn't for logging into QBDT, this is the new browser within QBDT trying to log in to my bank for bank feeds.

I'm seeing the internal browser is Chrome 84.0. I know this because the BoA website is showing an error and is requiring Ver 93 or higher to function.

Can't change browser, internal browser hasn't been updated since Jun whatever 2020 (which correlates to Wiki  article of Chrome release dates), QBDT 2022 is already up to date.

How can we update the internal browser now?
