We can still purchase a one time license of QBD 2021 or QBD 2020 at a lower price. They will only offer the annual subscription for QBD 2022 later.

Cryptosecurity? Intuit has shown in many of their business practices that they could care less about security. Besides failing to keep with supported browsers because they are so greedy as to not want to expend the resources to update the software, they have done everything they can to completely eff up any possibility of suitable support.

 

Once Intuit decided to have "experts", most of whom know nothing they chose to leave thier custoemrs out in the wildeness. Wait until you have a problem and realize that Intuit has absolutely no control over thier licensing process so anyone can rip off licenses and sell them, because intuit does not have in house support with a direct line to the company then this is easily exploited by scammers.

 

I was scammed by an "expert" who told me that to fix the issue I was having, I needed to update my software and they would "fix" my database. $1000 later all they had done was run a checksum and who knows, probably downloaded my db and all my employees information and then ripped me off for a software upgrade I did not need.

 

The only reason I had an idea of this was when I did call back in and got a "real" expert (who still couldn't help me by the way), the scammer accidentally put another company name into my software so I was having trouble accessing the service because my information no longer matched. This actually worked out because the dirtbag couldn't charge me card but because he has already upgraded my software, in order to correct the issue, Intuit forced me to buy the upgrade from them. I had an install that was only a year old.

 

Intuit is a cash cow and not invested in their customers. I can only imagine how they treat the data from those of us who file taxes through their program. Can you think this company is responsible with this information?

 

It is amazing to me that Intuit allows any dirtbag to sell their licenses without knowing who is selling them and has no control over them. Take the money and run, screw the customer, that is Intuit. And that is why I'm willing to pay more to migrate to Gusto/Freshbooks. It is pennywise, pound fooling to stay with a company that refuses to provide support, who does not invest the resources to keep their product working with supported browsers when they had a ten year warning that IE would not be supported with newer versions of Windows and no control over their licenses.

Perhaps the fact that QB desktop works best with IE is going to be the reason I find a different accounting software. IE is fully discontinued at this point, and being phased out completely through June 2022. Even the IE 11 site states that Edge has a backwards compatlity function, so how hard is it to update to Edge, with the compatibility already built in to it?  This is really a poor reflection on Intuit. None of my companies banks support IE any longer, for a reason! Most of the messages in this thread are well over a year old, and this problem still has not been addressed or fixed. It is ridiculous to pay the amount of money paid to access QB Desktop (remotely at that!), only to not be able to use its functions that make my life easier, that I paid to have access to because Intuit is stuck in 2009.  In fact, this issue creates MORE work for me to do, so how is that worth it to me to continue to use a product that I am only able to use partially or limited? Such a disappointment.

Really unhappy also. The explorer issue is verging on fraudulent. The previous update made it so key bank stopped working.

I think there must be a law firm who used QB desktop, reads this forum and is also affected by the abysmal support/advice provided here.  It's hard to believe no one has started a class action against them.  The real truth is that there is no affordable "one stop shop" for accounting, govt compliance, and payroll software out there.  Intuit knows this and simply doesn't care about you or your business.  They are systematically dismantling their desktop product in favor of the more lucrative online version. It won't be long before you start receiving notices about sunsetting and the like.

They will release QBD 2022 officially next week and only offers the subscription license. If you're using an outdated version, consider purchasing a one-time license of QBD 2021 or QBD 2020 at a lower price immediately before it sells out on the market.

This Did NOT work for me.  Keeps telling me to update or download browser.  IE is obsolete and you would think that Intuit QuickBooks would see that and make changes.  Causing havoc in my use of QB.  Unhappy customer.

It is done on purpose by Quick books. The CEO will be personally  Sued for this monopolist policy.  Will post on the Class Action suit so everyone can get paid.

Hi JasroV,

Because I could not download my banks transactions directly into QB as the bank won't allow use of the no longer supported IE.

So I followed your instructions, then spend an hour coding the download when I realize it went into a "new bank account" in QB. The transactions are from my main QB account. Can I merge this "new bank account" records into my existing or do I have to input everything by hand?

Yes, you can merge these two bank accounts. Let me show you how.

 

First, you'll need to turn off the bank feeds so you can merge them. Once done, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Lists menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Copy the name of the bank account you want to keep.
  3. Right-click the account you don’t want to use, then select Edit.
  4. Paste the name you copied, then select Save & Close.
  5. Select Yes to merge the entries.

Thank you but got stopped in my tracks at "copy the name of the bank account you want to keep." What are steps to copy the name? Do I right click and go to edit window and copy from there?

 

Then do I go to one I don't want to keep, right click and paste into the "account name" box?

That's correct. Just copy the account name of the account you want to keep, then right-click and paste it on the other account you don't want to keep.

 

Once you do that, you'll get this message (This account name is already being used. Would you like to merge this account with the other one?). Click on Yes to merge the accounts.

 

Also, QuickBooks will only allow you to merge two accounts with the same account type. Here's an article for more information about it: Merge list entries in QuickBooks Desktop.

I have some information about changing the default QuickBooks browser. QuickBooks Desktop (QDBT) works best with Internet Explorer (IE). It's the recommended default browser, and the option to change it is currently unavailable.

 

However, if you're looking to download bank transactions, you can use the WebConnect file. Then, import them so they'll become available in your Bank Feeds. Refer to this article for the detailed steps: Download Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

See that isn't the point. We, the consumers, don't care that QB works best with IE. IE is a dead browser. It doesn't matter what works best for QB when the features that Intuit spouts as an advantage to using their product do not work because the browser that works best for QB is no longer a viable option world-wide. The idea was to simplify what we had to import by having a direct connection for banking transactions. That direct connection no longer connects to our banks because our banks are not compatible with IE because it is dysfunct. So your solution is to provide us with an avenue that creates more work for us to do, over the features that you say makes our lives easier (but don't work because of IE). I don't know about you, but I support a business owner with 4 seperate companies with a total of over 20 banking/credit card accounts; that is alot of monthly webconnect files to download then import.  Intuit needs to catch up with the times and find a solution to the problem and fix it so all of their users are able to use the features that are advertised. Otherwise why would we, the consumers, continue to use products that are not built for the current times and useless in functionality? Instead of continuing to tell us that IE is the preferred browser as your cookie cutter answer for years now, because you are the only company in the world that see's it as the preferred browser nowadays, how about trying to find a newer browser for it thrive on.

Exactly today I spent close to three hours with different QB chats reps who did notjing to help. I just upgraded to 2022 version but now I want my money back and move on to a different accounting systems. My bank won't do any bank feeds using this outdated IE

Gee, I thought it was just me wasting my time trying to figure this out and then I saw this today.  Every bank I try to use the update with gives me the same browser update error or some cryptic similar message.  If Intuit is not going to update the program it should let users know so they can go elsewhere rather than suggesting that there is any way an auto feed will work with this program.  Hours spent endlessly.  Just take out the online update feature.  That feature is useless if it is going to force obsolete Internet Explorer, which banks obviously no longer accept.  Might as well have been saying you can only use an Amiga or Commodore.

I've come to the conclusion that Intuit could care less about us as customers. This issue has NEVER been addressed with any satisfaction. They only want to tell us how to do a "work around" instead of resolving the issue.

Right now, 12/12/2021, QB has stopped using Internet Explorer for bank feeds.  When attempting to replace it by downloading Google Chrome (while in bank 

feeds at QB's suggestion) it still doesn't work. Help

How on earth is this STILL an issue?! It renders a major feature useless for the vast majority of paying customers and poses a huge security risk. This could cost Intuit a lot of money should something major happen. Bank feeds are a core tool in QB, so fix this. If nothing happens by the time IE11 sunsets, I'm switching to Sage.
