My account page says under product I have quickbook Plus annual subscription Pro latest version. It has expired. I have 7 different rental properties individually set up on it. I looked at the renewal fee of $500some dollars and I do not want to pay that much. I only do basics on it. I need bank feeds and credit card feeds to download automatically and I run reports. Just basic stuff, no payroll or payments taken. I saw that they are discontinuing the desktop in Jan 2023 so I do not see why they are trying to make me pay all that money. From what I understand on Quickbooks online I would need to set up all rentals on separate accounts which is not cost effective. Does anyone know if that is accurate? Are there any workarounds to keep using my quickbooks manually? This is very frustration because a gal on the phone said I will be locked out and can not see anything. It is ridiculous since I paid for the programs for years and years I should at least be able to see my own files data.

You may have 3 options:
1. Purchase a new one time license for QB Desktop 2021 Pro for single user = $500
2. Purchase a new subscription license for QB Desktop 2022 Pro Plus for single user = $475
3. Login to your CAMPS, check your license status and make sure your credit card is active. They will charge you an automatic renewal on the due date for $549 this year.

In QuickBooks Desktop, If you don’t use any add-on services like payroll or bank feeds, you can usually use your non-subscription QuickBooks version for a few years. However, do keep in mind If you decided not to renew, you’re unable to either modify your entries or recreate any tax forms.
You might want to visit this article that contains complete instructions to move your entries. So whenever you need them, you have a backup copy.
Also, regarding QuickBooks Online, you're only allowed one company per subscription. For additional company, you will need to sign up for a new QBO account, because they must have their own subscription. Though, you can access them with the same sign-in info. This lets you quickly switch between companies so you can manage everything more efficiently.

Which QB Desktop year version do you run? QB Desktop 2021 or 2022?
I did call customer service and the agent was not helpful what so ever. She told me I would be locked out and would not be able to see anything. I asked if I could just continue to use what I have and enter everything manually without bank feeds and she said no. I need to re-subscribe and I asked why if it is obsolete 1/31/23. It was a conversation where I could barely understand her and I felt she did not understand me and was reading some script. Very frustrating.
I purchased it last year at this time. It just says on my account page. Quickbook Desk top Pro Plan Plus. I remember in the past there was always a year associated with it when I bought it so I am not sure why this doesn't say a year. Hope this helps.

Open your company file and hit f2 key. You will see a product information whether you are using QB Desktop 2021 or 2022. They are discontinuing development of QB Desktop UK version next year and they have released QB Desktop 2023 US version last September 20th. If you are using QB Desktop 2021, you can still purchase a one-time license for it. But if you're using QB Desktop 2022, you'll have to pay for renewal to keep it going. Alternatively, purchase a new license for QB Desktop 2022 at a lower price from selected partners. You might get the QB Desktop 2022 Pro Plus for single users for around $475.

So do I buy another quickbooks pro plus but in 2022 or is that a renewal type program? If so then what specific quickbooks desktop 2022 do I buy? I see premier etc. Thanks again for your help, I apologize I am not good at all this quickbooks stuff. It is a nightmare for me..

I’ve used QB desktop for 23+ years and do not want to switch to online. I understand that intuit can make more money selling online subscriptions but I believe they need not to be greedy and forget about the pc software users that got them to where they are now. I am a very small company with 1 employee and don’t need anything different for way to much money. I donate bookkeeping for a company that uses QB online and I hate it, it is not user friendly and I spend way more time searching than working. Now I’m looking for a new accounting software. Shame on you Intuit QB
If you are working solo on a desktop (PC or Mac) to manage your book and only need basic features, you should explore this one. You can use this free program for as long as you like, use all the features and enter as much data as required. There are no time limits, no usage limits, no ads (at this time). This program is quite popular in Asia and Europe.

Does anyone agree? I am very disappointed that Desktop Pro is going away. I will never use the online product as it is inferior to the desktop product. It also poses security risks that are unnecessary and is dependent on external variables. Shame on you Intuit! This is purely a greedy money play to make customers buy a monthly subscription. Many small businesses will not be able to pay these exorbitant fees and will look for other products to fill this vacated niche. In addition, I have been using Turbotax for 10 years for business and individual purposes along with dozens of other entrepreneurs in my groups, We will all be looking for alternative for 2023!!!!

The last time they locked my data. I could not access it. I had to renew or my data was lost . You have to pay or you no longer will access your data
I feel exactly the same way. Its disgusting. I, too, work in a very small business, 2 employees and have been forced to "upgrade" to QB online after using desktop products for 24 years. When talking to sales initially, I told the representative ONE very simple feature (tracking CLIENT expenses) was absolutely essential to the business. She said no problem & sold me the product(s)-multiple because we have 2 accounts. I went through the over-complicated data migration, etc only to be told by the person helping me set up the QB online account that the ONE feature I needed was not available on the basic QB online accts...I would need to upgrade. Absolutely not. I've been a bookkeeper for over 25 years...I'll go back to a spreadsheet & a pencil before I pay any more money to Intuit/QB.
