Yes. You have no choice but to wait for the patch.

We have started offering our clients a workaround to use the trial version for QB Desktop 2020 and 2021 until they repair QB Desktop 2022 or release QB Desktop 2023.

I bet I'd feel the same way if the same thing happened to me, @uggraphics

I can see how beneficial this feature is to you and your business, and also to other users. However, yes, the Loan Manager feature was removed from the QuickBooks Desktop 2022 version.

Transactions will no longer be automated, as they were under the Loan Manager. Despite this, you can still use QuickBooks to keep track of your loans. You'll need to manually enter them into the system. Here's a guide that can help you out: Manually track loans in QuickBooks Desktop.

In the meantime, you'll want to consider visiting our QuickBooks App Market to find a third-party loan management application that best suit your business needs. I'm also adding this article to learn how to manually set up accounts for your loans, and manually track them in QBDT: Manually track loans.

As Fiat Lux-ASIA suggested, you can still use it in previous, currently supported versions and wait for the fix.

For more details, you can check out this article about discontinued features in 2022 of the Desktop version of QuickBooks.

QuickBooks Desktop 2022 introduces several features to help automate and streamline your daily accounting tasks. Here's a guide to help you check the latest functions of the program: Learn what’s new in QuickBooks Desktop 2022.

Keep me posted if you have additional questions about this. I'll be right here to provide you with the information that you need.

After struggling with this issue for over a month now, I ended up replacing all of my affected user's computers to solve the problem and this seems to have helped. I am thoroughly disappointed in QB support for not providing a solution or even workaround for this problem (even with "Enterprise" level support). Will certainly remember this next time we go to buy any Intuit product.

For what it's worth, we had to update one of our unaffected user's QuickBooks application over the weekend (QB only lets you ignore an update so many times before it forces you to install) and she just reported Chrome crashing when opening a company file for the first time. We are getting her a new workstation; terrible solution but it is the only thing we've tried that works.

@Maybelle_S  Don't run to "THE TEAM" with this as a solution, a new computer does NOT resolve the problem for everyone.

Same issues on my old computer so I purchase a new computer. The new computer has an 11th Gen i7 processor, and 32GB of memory, yes, 32 that is not a typo, all other specs are well above QB requirements. QB crashes excel and chrome every time when opening or closing a company file. The only things installed on the new computer are QB Dekstop Pro Plus, Office 365, Adobe Reader and Chrome. From the very first initial opening of a company file QB aborted and crashed Chrome and Excel.

When opening a company file I have to have Chrome and Excel both closed before then I can open and use QB and before I close a company file I have to make sure that I save everything and close Excel and Chrome first, then close the company file or I will lose work and everything will crash.

I also use Adobe Reader open when working in Quickbooks and be able to edit PDF's. If I have a company file open BEFORE I open a PDF in Adobe I can not edit the PDF. I have to have Adobe and the PDF open first, then open Quickbooks to be able to edit PDFs.

The common factor here is Quickbooks. This IS absolutely a QB problem and QB is the cause. It is ridiculous that there are this many people complaining and Inuit is not accepting responsibility for distributing a defective product and is not doing anything to resolve it. This is unacceptable and speaks volumes about how much Intuit does not care about its customers.

Running the Tool Hub DOES NOT WORK either!

You would think with the huge increase in price this year we'd get better support.

Also, I want to remark on another "Solved" thread that said that running in the admin account fixed the problem. I always run in an admin account and still have the problem.

Ridiculous that these threads are being marked as solved.

Thank you for this, I read the post about purchasing new computers and thought, can't do that.....Just for quickbooks.... This could be QB ploy to push everyone to online QB, they will just make the desktop an unusable version.

Ugh, I'm so tired of EMPL from the QuickBooks Team responding to posts with generic "solutions" that are just copy and paste responses. They must get paid by the number of times they post a comment.

@KlentB

You are wrong, no effective troubleshooting steps have been shared in this thread.

I have contacted Intuit via the help menu and was told that it's not an Intuit/Quickbooks problem, and if you actually read through the thread you would have read that others have had the exact same experience.

There is NOTHING wrong with my setup. It's a software conflict, period. Quickbooks is the only common software causing the problems. The problem is Quickbooks.

PLEASE stop telling us to do the same thing over and over. We keep explaining that the "solutions" you are providing are not working. The help desk keeps shifting blame to something else, yet does not know and can not tell us what that something else is or how to fix it.

It's ridiculous you would FORCE us to switch to your "new" software and not have it functional.

@PaperPusher

I'm glad this helped you and you did not waste money on a new computer.

The fact that and EMPL of the QuickBooks Team (@Maybelle_S)  thinks buying a new computer is an acceptable fix and is sharing it with the "the team" as a solution is outrageous. Even if a new computer did resolve the problem, (in my experience it did not) that would absolutely be an unacceptable solution. Most QuickBook customers are small businesses that do not have thousands of extra dollars to buy a new computer every year for their accounting software.

It was time for me to upgrade my computer or I would be even more unhappy about this situation.

Same issue here with Enterprise 22 on Windows 10 and Chrome.  Chrome and Quickbooks seem to crash each other.  I've had the same frustrations with Quickbooks support and don't have the time to spend hours with them to tell me it's not their fault.  22 has been a nightmare overall.  They removed scan manager, it's crashing, the 401k reports no longer properly report the employer contribution data correctly.   I guess 22 is Intuit's ME/Vista/8... Lucky us.

I noticed this in the application log seconds after Chrome crashes.  I'm assuming it's related as it's consistent. This happens while I'm loading Quickbooks and opening the company file.

I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and concerns in QuickBooks Community, @adambpa.

I'm here to share some details on how to pass the error message you're getting.

The error message that you're getting is due to damage in the encryption of sensitive fields such as Social Security, credit card numbers, and bank accounts. Before you proceed with the troubleshooting, ensure to create a  portable copy of your company file to prevent any data loss along the process. Once ready, here's how to get started.

First, check the QuickBooks Admin user for damage. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your company file as the Admin, and then change the Admin password.
  2. QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) will re-encrypt the data in your file and this may take several minutes.
  3. Please take note that in case QBDT crashes while encrypting, you'll have to contact us. We may need to send your file to Data Services to remove all sensitive info from the file.
  4. Sign out from your company file.
  5.  Go to File, select Close Company or Logoff, and then close QBDT.
  6. Reopen QBDT and then sign in as the admin to complete the re-encryption process.

Once done, check if the re-encryption is successful. Below are the steps on how to achieve this:

  1. Run the Verify Data utility again and then check the most recent entry in the log file.
  2. If you see any of the following errors, contact us to send your file to the Data Services for repair.
  3. >LVL_SEVERE_ERROR--GetMasterKey Failed: The decryption has failed.
  4. >LVL_SEVERE_ERROR--GetDataAccessKey Failed: The decryption has failed.
  5. Please take note that only send your file to Data Services if the Admin user gets the Masterkey error. If not, you'll need to delete and recreate the users affected.

If you don't see the error messages mentioned above, please proceed to Solution 2 of this article for the detailed instructions: Fix decryption error.

Also, make sure that you update the QuickBooks Desktop. This way you have the latest patches and fixes.

If the issue persists, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Team. They have tools that can check the error message and investigate this further. You can follow the steps shared by KlentB on how to reach them.

I'm also adding this linkk that you can visit on how bank feeds work in QBDT: Download Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

I'm here to help if you have more questions about managing your file or anything else related to QuickBooks. Stay safe!

Google Chrome browsers crash when Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2021 is open

After getting all of our accountants new workstations, now the problem has returned. Getting new reports of Chrome, Outlook, and Excel crashing today on opening company files. No error messages; applications simply crash when you try to open a company file (of which we have many, so they are going in & out of company files frequently).

Chrome lets you restore tabs that were open, but many times Excel won't allow recovering any files that were being worked on. This problem is wasting time and hindering productivity for our user's.

I've been struggling with this issue for over a month with no solution. QB support called me two weeks ago to "investigate" the issue, and I have not heard back. This is getting very old.

I am new to this thread. I am here because I am also experiencing Chrome crashing whenever I switch Quickbooks files. I am using QBDT Accountant 2022 on Windows 11- on a brand new computer. This seems to happen every time, and since I am an accountant, I am switching QB files a lot! This does need fixed and obviously it is not an isolated issue. It is definitely a QuickBooks issue because this only happens when initiating a file change in Quickbooks.

Hello there, Cassandra Nelson.

I appreciate you letting us know about Chrome crashing when switching QuickBooks files. Let me provide one more troubleshooting step to fix the issue.

You can start by closing QuickBooks and other components running in the background. Here's how:

  1. Go to your Task Manager then highlight all applications that start with .qbQuickBooks, or Intuit.
  2. At the bottom. Click End Task.
  3. Close Task Manager window.

Once done, open and run QuickBooks by selecting Run as the Administrator. Make sure to download the latest product updates to ensure you have the most recent update.

Check Chrome again, and if it still crashes, I recommend contacting our Live Support Team. They can create a case to further investigate this issue.

Don't hesitate to post again if you have other concerns. I'm always around here in the Community forum to answer your questions.

I am having the same issue on a brand new laptop. It is unacceptable and this is classic Intuit- not our problem. My past experience with support has been ridiculous- hours on a call with them and no resolution, so after reading everyone's call in experience I am not inclined to call. When I open a company file or switch between companies, my chrome browser crashes. I use Google Drive to do my work for most of my client's, so this is infuriating. Shame on Quickbooks once again as it appears they just don't care.

I can imagine what you must be going through, @nr1

I'm here to help you fix this crashing issue that you encountered when you access your company file.

Crashing of QuickBooks is usually caused by a damaged component in the program. One way to fix this is to make sure your QuickBooks Desktop is in the latest release. This way, you'll always get our bug fixes and security patches.

If the issue persists, I'd recommend doing a clean install so Windows can fix company file issues.

Here's how:

  1. Search for Control Panel in the Windows Start menu.
  2. Pick Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  3. Choose your version, then click Uninstall/Change and hit Remove

After that, reinstall QuickBooks Desktop. If this didn't fix your issue, I'd recommend following Solution 2 in this article: Clean install QuickBooks Desktop.

If none of this works, our technical support is always welcome to further investigate the issue. Visit this link to get the direct phone number: Contact QuickBooks Desktop Support. I understand that you've talked to one of our support once. In this case, they are the ones who can access your account and can perform a remote session to take a closer look at what's causing this. They can also open a case for you or even escalate this if needed.

Before doing so, please see our support hours guide to ensure they can assist you on time.

Additionally, I've included an article that'll help you learn more about the features offered in the latest version. This helps you know how you can use them to benefit your business: What’s New in QuickBooks Desktop 2022.

Don't hesitate to post again if you have other concerns. Or leave a comment below if you have updates about QuickBooks not working or crashing.

Please READ what's happening:

It's not Quickbooks crashing, it's Chrome, File Explorer or MS 365 Outlook that crash and close when logging into a company file.

It is annoying, it is frustrating, and certainly counterproductive.

You can read through the previous posts in this thread and see what people have tried.  Including your suggestion of uninstall and re-install.  One or more posts mentioned buying brand new computers and still having the same issue pop up.

Calling QB's tech support does nothing.

It's time to find a fix for this.

All of my programs crash if they are open when I open QuickBooks.  Word, Excel, Tax program, Outlook, Adobe - all crash.  It is a QuickBooks problem, as most of the people on this thread are saying. I have to remember to open QuickBooks before I open anything else. Or if I have something open, I have to remember to save and close it, open QuickBooks, and then re-open the other program. Takes up so much extra time, I've been working 10 to 12 hours a day instead of 8 to 10.  It's been over a year!  As someone else said, it's time to find a fix for this.

I have already posted here, but I came here today because now QuickBooks is crashing my Excel as well as Chrome. This is an EVEN BIGGER problem! I see that someone else just posted this as well though.

This needs fixed. This problem is NOT solved as anyone who can read can see. It is a QB/Intuit problem, NOT anyone else. QB is the one crashing all other programs. This needs escalated and resolved!!!
