How to view and print contractor paystub

Hello, jhan1.

I'd be more than happy to show you how you can view and print your contractor's paystub.

Printing a contractor's paystub depends on how you paid and added them to QuickBooks.

If you added them as regular contractors, you'll simply want to go to their profiles to view and print the payments from there. Here's how:

  1. Go to Expenses, then click the Vendors tab.
  2. Select your contractor.
  3. Open a Check or Bill Payment (Check) transaction, then click the Print check button.
  4. Add the details of your check.
  5. Once done, click Preview and print.

You can also tweak your print settings by clicking the Print setup button on the Print Checks screen.

Alternatively, you can go to the + New menu then select Print checks. This works if you have checked the Print later box on the bill payment or check transaction.

However if you added them as employees, you'll want to go to the Paychecks list to print the paystub. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll tab, then select Employees
  2. Click the Paycheck list link.
  3. Select the checks you'd like to print.
  4. Click the Print button.

How to view and print contractor paystub

Thanks for the reply.  I'm still having trouble viewing the paystub for contractors.  I was able to view the paystubs when I processed the direct deposit for the contractors previously before the switch to the new format a few weeks ago but with the new format, I'm finding it more difficult to find and do the same things I used to do before.

There isn't an option for me to view/print the paystubs from the contractor profiles.  Also, when I view the payments made, there is a summary of the payment but not the paystub.

I'll share details about producing paystubs for contractors in QuickBooks Online (QBO), jhan1.

The option to generate or create pay stubs for your contractor is unavailable in QBO. You can create a check and print it for recording purposes. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu on the left panel.
  2. Choose the Contractors tab.
  3. Select the dropdown next to the contractor's name and click Write check.
  4. Select the expense account you use to track paychecks from the Corresponding account in the QuickBooks field.
  5. When you're ready to prepare the check, hit Save and Close to send the check to your print queue. Or if you want to print the check now, select Print Check.

To learn more about creating paper checks to pay your contractors, see the Pay a contractor with a paper check article. While we're unable to print pay stubs for your contractor's check, just purchase pre-printed ones that you can customize and add business details. For more details, click this link: https://intuitmarket.intuit.com/checks. Then follow these steps in setting up your printer settings if you already have your pre-printed checks.

I understand how convenient it can be to have a pay stub available for all of your payments, though, especially if the payment consists of different works. You'll want to send feedback to our Product Design Team. We'd like to have this opportunity to improve your QuickBooks experience. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then choose Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions, then click Next.
  3. If you'll be provided a list of suggested articles related to your comments, select Skip and send message.
  4. Choose the appropriate category from the drop-down, then click Send message.

Here's an article that you can read to help track all the money you've paid to your vendor for a certain date range: Run a report with vendor totals.

Feel free to get back to us with additional questions while working with contractors or anything about QuickBooks. I'll be here to ensure your success. You have a good one.

What is this? This makes absolutely no sense. We have to "write a check" to show proof of payment?

Why can't you just provide real world pay stubs?? I have a contractor who simply needs proof of payment. Where are his pay stubs?! They seriously don't exist?

This is total nonsense
