It sounds like you're getting suspicious emails, Jean.

We only discontinued QuickBooks Desktop for Windows 2018 after May 31, 2021. And, notifications are sent through email before the discontinued date.

You can browse these links for additional information about this.

If the email is asking you to take actions like providing personal information, please don't open it. Here are a few things to look for if you’re not sure an email came from Intuit.

  • We’ll never ask for your personal info in an email.
  • Our emails will always come from an email address that ends with @intuit.com. This includes @e.intuit.com.
  • Any link we send you in an email will always be for an intuit.com address.

You can report the email by following these steps.

  1. Go to this link; https://security.intuit.com/.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Look for Report a fake email (or phishing email) and click on it.

Let me also share these articles on how you can better protect your account and how we keep your data secure.

Don't hesitate to post again if you have other concerns with QuickBooks. Or leave a comment below if you need additional information about the email you received. I'm always around to help you.

What do you mean with "discontinued"? Intuit has just officially released QBD 2022 since last week.

@Jean24

Which QB Desktop year version do you have?

Login to your CAMPS and check your license status. They will support QBD 2021 until May 2024. If you purchased QB Desktop 2021 Pro Plus, you have to renew your license annually. Make sure that email only reminds you of the due date of your subscription. You can still purchase a one time license of QBD 2021 Pro and cancel your QBD 2021 Pro Plus as another option.

Afaik, QB Desktop US Pro Plus is not available for monthly subscription. Are you using QB Desktop CA or UK version? If you are using QB Desktop CA version, you can still purchase a one time license of QB Desktop 2021 Pro.

This is US Community. If your company is not located in the UK, you may consider switching to US version. You can still purchase a one time license of QB Desktop 2021.

Hi,

Fiat - Lix, thanks for your info. You said that "They will support QBD 2021 until May 2024." - I can't find that schedule published anywhere. How do you know this? or can you please point to a website that has this schedule?

Thank you!

Well... I just discovered you are partly right..

Quickbooks Desktop is not 'discontinuing' exactly... but outright purchase of the product has indeed been discontinued.

QB Desktop 2022 is now an annual subscription.

That sucks.

The older versions could be used for 3 years before support stopped.

It now seems that after one year, the programme will 'die'. You are locked in to an annual replacement cycle..

@Flyingkiwi

You can still buy QBD 2021 US and CA with the one time license. They decided to discontinue QBD UK version.

Exactly... I am keeping my QBD 2021 Premiere (and using it until 2024!).

I think people who upgraded will be selling these for good prices ...heheee

From what I can understand, the UK Desktop version is being discontinued and will no long work after 31 Jan 2023, so no, the email received Oct21 was not spam if received in the UK.

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/uk/desktop/

I think we are haveing so many Tax and regulation changes the Intuit has decided not to try to keep up.  Awful decision tbh as the desktop version is far superior and faster than online.

@SheilaMcC

Yes you are right. They decided to stop developing the QBD UK version. If your company is not located in the UK or does not need to comply with MTD requirements, consider migrating to the QBD US version instead.

This is not good news. I used the UK QB Online for an international charity in Sweden, and they needed to stop using it as the audit trail did not meet legal standards. The verification number / transaction number trail that is easy to see in the Desktop version was not possible in online. (OK, this was 4-5 years ago).

Transferring to US Desktop system is also a nightmare as the files are not compatible.

So - it will be like starting again. And, if you are starting again, I would go to another company as QB USA seem to be locking the Desktop version into annual licensing (for now)....

After 25 years of using Quickbooks (UK and US versions)... the clock is running and Intuit seem to have lost the plot.

@Flyingkiwi

If you are using QBD UK version with the one time license, you can keep it that way for the time being. You can still purchase QBD 2020 UK version with the one time license from several partners if required.

You can purchase a 3rd party service to convert data from QBD UK version to QBD US version.

You can still purchase QBD 2021 US Pro/Premier or QBD 2022 US Premier Accountant with the one time license.

I received one notice that QB was discontinuing Desktop 2018 support and a second one saying QB was discontinuing support for Desktop 2019. Is one or both???

Hello, Gdoggy.

We already discontinued QuickBooks Desktop 2018 last May 31, 2021. While the QuickBooks Desktop 2019 users will receive a notification in advance as services for this version are scheduled to be discontinued this coming May 31, 2022.

You can still use QuickBooks Desktop 2019 without the add-ons services. However, you'll no longer receive any critical updates starting June 01, 2022. Check out this article for more details: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy and upgrade information.

I've also included this resource if you want to upgrade your QuickBooks Desktop 2019: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise.

If you have further questions about the discontinuation policy, don't hesitate to get back on this thread. We're always here to help you.

20+ years I have used QuickBooks and TurboTax since version 1....

$350.00 a year?  Really?
TurboTax that is patched together like a Ford Model T?

Intuit will never get another cent from me.  Greedy bastards.

There are some suggestions that we can purchase a one-time license of QB Desktop Pro 2021.  Where can I purchase that?  I want to avoid the subscription service.

Thanks
