A couple of months ago my laptop died so had to download QB Pro 2013 desktop. Thought everything was fine but now see I am unable to print; plus the icon bar keeps moving from the top, where I set it, to the left, where I don't want it. I am able to print using other apps so just a QB issue.

Yes, you can still use the PDF and Print Repair Tool. This tool fixes most of the common printing issues in QuickBooks.
If you get the same result after using the Repair Tool, you can rename the QBPrint.QBP file manually to get this resolved. Let me show you how:
After that, try to open and print the invoice in your account. The following article contains additional solutions for your question, and you can go directly to Step 4: Resolve printing issues.
Additionally, you may consider upgrading to QuickBooks Pro 2019. Since you're using an outdated version, you'll no longer receive critical security updates that may resolve data damage issues.

I'd like to help share some information to get this printing and icon issue sorted out so you can get back on track.
To single this issue out, we can try running the verify and rebuild process. Verifying the data self-identifies data issues within a company file while rebuilding the data resolves data integrity issues.
Here's how:
Once done, you can proceed with verifying the data:
For detailed steps about this process, please refer to this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.
If the issue persists after trying these steps, you can try repairing your QuickBooks to fix program-related issues.
However, if the same thing happens, you might consider upgrading your QuickBooks to the latest version. This is because the version that you're currently using is no longer supported which can be the main reason for the issues you're getting.
In case, you wish to upgrade your QuickBooks, you can check out these articles to guide you all throughout the process:
This should get you moving today.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me here should you have any further questions with QuickBooks Desktop. I want to make sure you're taken care of. Have a nice day!
Hey BettyJaneB, thank you for your help. I ran the steps you instructed and still no printing. When I try to print an invoice or anything in QB the printer icon pops up but when I hover over it it says no documents and then disappears.
Also having problem with icon bar dropping from top to left side; I've repeatedly checked 'top icon bar' but it keeps dropping down even after closing and reopening QB.

Thank you @IamjuViel for helping me. I am able to save as a pdf and then print that; do you still want me to run the repair tool??

Hay @MaryGraceS, I will go ahead and try the PDF and Print Repair Tool and report results. As to upgrading QB Pro 2013 it isn't financially possible right now, and actually I didn't have any problems when I installed with the disc; now that my cd's are in a box in my son's garage somewhere I had to download it. I am having problems with printing and also I can't seem to make icon bar stay pinned to the top; keeps wanting to switch to the left even if it is at the top when I first launch QB. Could this possibly mess with my QB program??
Thank you so much @IamjuViel and @MaryGraceS ; the PDF and Print Repair Tool ran so fast and easy, and then ding printing problem fixed. I have spent days trying to find an answer especially since tax prep time is here and it would take a lot of time just converting all I need to .pdf and then print; thank you a hundred times over!!
Now do you have answers on keeping the icon bar on top? For years I have had it at the top and never had a problem. Now, while I am working, all of a sudden it drops down to the left side; takes up space there and it is very distracting. Thank you again ladies!!
Hello there, @Jenn in ATL.
Thank you for the quick response, and I'm glad to hear that you found it helpful. I'll be happy to help walk you through the steps to keep the icon bar at the top of your screen.
To start, let's make sure Save current desktop is selected in your account settings to keep the Icon Bar at the top of the screen in QuickBooks.
Here's how:
After that, to see if it will keep the current setting, select the Top Icon Bar again under the View menu. Once done, close and reopen QuickBooks.
Additionally, if you don't use any of the add-on services in QuickBooks Desktop 2013, your product will continue to work for you. However, you may experience some unexpected behavior like printing and icon issues because of new updates from QuickBooks, Printer Driver or Operating System aren't integrated with your product if it's not compatible.
That should point you in the right direction today.
We appreciate you taking the time to visit us here today. If there's anything else I can help you with QuickBooks, feel free to let me know. I want to make sure everything is running properly in your end. Wishing you and your business success.
Hey @MaryGraceS , the way I had it set was 'save when closing company' and the desktop may have started out with the 'top icon bar' but inevitably it would drop to the left side as I was working. I did as you said and so far no problem; and if it stays at the top you will be my new best friend!! It is frustrating enough trying to get the taxes done but to add the icon bar distraction pretty much puts me over the edge, lol. Thank you again; I will definitely keep you posted!
Thanks for coming back to the Intuit Community, Jenn in ATL.
I’m happy to know the resolution provided by @MaryGraceS is currently working. The troubleshooting she laid out is the initial steps one has to perform to resolve the issue.
I don't want to leave you empty-handed, so I'm adding where you can check the latest news and updates about QuickBooks: New features.
Please update me on how things go. I want to make sure everything you're all set with this concern. Have a good one!
Hey @MaryGraceS and @Rasa-LilaM, I am sorry to have to tell you the icon bar is still wanting to be on the left side; not only does is take up space but I'm so used to having it on top for the last 100 years (slight exaggeration) and know where everything is. I might be going to my other son's house where my moving boxes are stored; if I'm able to find the QB Pro 2013 disk I might just uninstall the downloaded version and install the disk and hopefully all will go back to my normal bliss. Have a blessed weekend!
Hi there, @Jenn in ATL.
