There's no need to convert to QuickBooks Online (QBO) to use the Warehouse Manager feature. All you need to do is to install QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) mobile app on a supported mobile barcode scanner or an android device. Them, pair it with your QBDT company file.
Once connected, you may now use the scanner, by setting up warehouse users (pickers). You may refer to the article you've shared above for the detailed steps on how to go about it.

The QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software itself can't be installed on the phone due to its system requirements needed to run the program.
The Warehouse Manager is another app of QBDT to help manage your inventories.

Thanks for the reply! I have been seeing so much conflicting information that is why I called Intuit and they told me numerous times that QuickBooks Desktop was not available via mobile phone. This is going to be a large $ investment to change from Apple phones to Android so just want to be 100% certain that they will work with QuickBooks Desktop.

My problem is not with a scanner. using my iPhone or iPad I am unable to make a bank deposit. The deposit buttons are not visable to make th3e deposit

I'll lay down some information about the purpose of the QuickBooks Desktop Mobile app.
QuickBooks Desktop Mobile app is used to scan or upload receipts and bills and attach transactions to documents with seamless integration in QuickBooks Desktop.
With that, the bank deposit feature is unavailable in this application.
Moreover, you need to install or download QuickBooks directly to your computer to process deposits.

The mobile app for QuickBooks Desktop doesn't currently allow you to send invoices or transactions. However, you can automate entries using the app. Here are the things you can do with the app:
