Hi there, Bpkeeper,
Great job for performing the recommended steps so you can open QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Let's try one more option to fix this by renaming the QuickBooks Desktop installation folders. Just a heads up, this should only be done by an IT professional.
Before proceeding, please back up your company file to prevent data from accidental loss.
Once done, you can follow the steps below in renaming the folder:
If you get an access error message when you try to rename the folder:
I've added this article: Clean install QuickBooks Desktop for other troubleshooting steps.
If you're getting same results, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Technical Team. They can help investigate further why you're unable to open the program after the updates.
Let me know how this goes by leaving a comment below. I always got your back.
Maybe you can help?
My old computer crashed and I bought a new one. I am trying and have tried a couple of times to re-install my software and it won't let me get past the activation page. When I tried before, it froze on the activation. Then I tried again and it said something about the browser. I still have all my paperwork including receipt with the licensing numbers. I know that it is an older version but I would like to get it working again.
What can I do?
Thanks,
Alfredo
I can route you to the right support to help you generate the validation code, ADaSilva.
You'll need to contact our Customer Care Team during our support hours. They have the tools that can pull up your account and provide you with the validation code specific to you. Also, make sure to have your license and product numbers handy.
Once you have the validation code, you can already activate the program: Activate QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
I've added some links you can check. These will explain more about how to install the software and fix related issues:
Please keep in touch with me here so I can ensure you're able to activate QuickBooks. The Community will always have your back.
Which Windows OS do you run on the new machine? Win 10 Home, Win 10 Pro, or Win 11?
Chat Support and ask them to generate the validation code for your license.
Windows 10 Pro

If you're still having issues after activated your QB, consider purchasing a one-time license for QBD 2021 or a subscription license for QBD 2023. Following the EOL of IE 11 earlier this year, there have been some ongoing critical issues while running an outdated version of QBD on Win 10 Pro and Win 11.
I got through to Tech Support and they helped to reset my activation.
Based on what we just did to activate, I never would have been able to do it.
Thanks Tech Support.
Thank you for coming back to the Community, ADaSilva.
