Join nowIs there a way to change the register text color to black?
Mine has defaulted to the color of the register and is extremely difficult to read.
Thanks,
Peter
Hello Peter,
The register font color can be changed to use black/white text by selecting the Color popup in the righthand corner of your register window and unselecting the "Allows Color Text" option.
Hi @GKAD,
You can change the grids on the register but not the font on it, you can use this so you’ll be able to clarify the details. Let me show you how to modify it.
Here's how:

Yes, I figured out you can change the color of the grid. The color of the font is the real issue. I can't understand why there is not an option for black text. It seems like this will lead to nothing but eye strain.
I am left with the choice of all black and white registers to have something legible.
Is there somewhere to register this complaint and request a future change?
Thanks,
Peter
Thanks for getting back to us, @GKAD.
I can see how having an option to change the register's font color would be helpful for you and your business. Rest assured that I'll pass along your suggestion to our Product Developers. They're always looking for ideas to consider on how to improve QuickBooks.
In the meantime, I recommend visiting our Blog site. This is where we share recent happenings and future developments, such as updates to newly added features.

Acct_Ben,
What version of QB is this? I don't see it for QB 2020 for Mac but am I somehow missing it?
Thanks,
Peter

Isn't there a way to change the font color on all registers at once? Or do I have to change every single register individually?
Hello there, Deb B.
Yes, we'll have to manually change the font color to each register. I'll also add this feedback to our engineers so they can include this option to our future updates. I attached this thread for their reference.
You can check out our help article if you need more help with QuickBooks display preferences.
Feel free to get back to me if you need anything else.
This option no longer appears to be available in the 2020 version?? As mentioned elsewhere, the only way I can see to achieve black text is to have grey windows. Sigh.
I don't know about earlier versions, but in Mac QB 2021, unchecking "Allows Color Text" in the register's top right color picker will get you black text. This is shown in the reply be Acct_Ben way up at the top. MUCH BETTER. Then you can use the color picker for whatever background color you prefer. This functionality is also discussed in the video posted above.
I have tried every color available and they all make the registers very difficult to read. A quick internet search shows that I am not alone in this problem. When will you issue an update to address this issue?
This is ridiculous. You charge outrageous fees for a forced upgrade and then provide a lousy product. I am actively migrating my data to another platform.
Hi tunawish,
I realized we have different preferences based on our needs. I get your point and I see how it would help if there's a different color option.
I would also encourage you to send feedback to our product development team, so they'll know that you'd like to have other options. I'll do the same on my end.
Let me know if you have other questions in mind. Take care and have a good one!
