Received a clarification email from Melio that bill pay for Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise is changing. It referred to a prior email notification which I never received about some change on September 12, 2023. Not sure if it's a spam message as I can't locate anything on Intuit's site about any service changes. Does anyone know if the bill pay process is changing in September and what it might be? I do currently use the seamless service though the desktop software.
Solved! Go to Solution.
You've got it correctly, Michele.
I'm here to shed some light on the upcoming changes. Please know that the cutoff date of September 12, 2023, pertains specifically to users subscribed to Bill Pay powered by Melio but never utilized the service by making payments.
In its place, we're introducing our own solution that enables you to conveniently manage and pay your bills directly within QuickBooks. This shift empowers you to handle your financial tasks seamlessly, removing the necessity of involving external parties.
Since you're actively using the feature, this transition doesn't apply to your account. You can continue utilizing it without any interruption.
For more tips on handling vendor transactions and keeping track of the money you owe to them, I recommend reading this article: Accounts Payable Workflows in QBDT.

Thanks for sharing this matter here in the Community, Troy. Allow me to elaborate or clarify things about this Bill Pay powered by Melio change in QuickBooks.
The email you received was sent to QuickBooks Desktop users who subscribed to Bill Pay powered by Melio but have never used it or made a payment with it. That said, these users will no longer have access to it in QuickBooks on September 12, 2023. Instead, they'll be able to sign up for QuickBooks Bill Pay.
However, if you're actively using Bill Pay powered by Melio, you will not be affected by this change on the said date.
The change was implemented primarily because of the introduction of QuickBooks Bill Pay, a feature that empowers users like you to settle their bills directly within the QuickBooks platform, eliminating the need for involving third-party services. This alteration aims to streamline the bill payment process, enhancing convenience and efficiency. By integrating bill payment capabilities into QuickBooks itself, you can now manage your finances more comprehensively within a single ecosystem, resulting in a smoother and more centralized experience.

I hope this information helps you. If you have other QuickBooks-related questions, let me know in the comments below. I'll gladly answer them for you.
Thanks for clarifying. I am an online user and I received the email from Melio, I had not received a previous email as mentioned. I chatted with Melio and was told that It would no longer be available thru QB on Sept 12. But they might not have understood I was already using it in QB.
wheww!!
Hi there
Boy am I glad to see this - I too received an email last week from Melio referencing a previous email that I never received; I too hunted all over with no luck at finding any reference to any of this. This answer raises more questions for me. We are using QuickBooks Desktop, and have been using Melio for over a year, which means, according to your information here, that the cutoff date of 9/12/23 doesn't apply to us...? Hoping you can clarify what we can expect, what changes we will have to make...
And I did look at the Bill Pay article, but it seems to be addressed to Online users...please advise.
Thank you.
Michele

So when will Melio be disabled for those that are using it?
Seems like
Melio: $0/mo, unlimited free regular ACH, 2 free checks a month then $1.50, 2.9% for credit card (funds next day), 1% up to $30 for same-day ACH, includes at least a basic approval workflow
Quickbooks Bill Pay: $0/mo, 5 free regular ACH then $0.50, 0 free checks a month then $1.50, ? for credit card, ? for same-day ACH, ? for payment approval workflow.
So seems like a downgrade? Now melio's ACH is pretty slow so if QBP ends up being a 2 day or something like that, it may be worth it for that.
Anyone know of a better options for an inexpensive bill pay system that intergrates with QBO? Note that while bill.com looks very nice, I consider it to be too expensive.

The "schedule online payment" button is no longer showing in Quickbooks as an option
I dont know how to get it back
Good afternoon, @ABPS.
Thanks for reaching back out to the Community.
Before digging further, can you send us a screenshot of your page that doesn't include the Schedule Online Payment option any more?
In the meantime, you can review this guide: Pay bills online from QBDT.
I'll be waiting for your response!
Hello there,
You'll want to check the status of your online bill pay. See to it if it is still active. If so, and the option is still unavailable, it is best to connect with our QuickBooks Desktop Support, as it may require assistance from our Customer Care Team. Contact them for further guidance. They also have tools like screen sharing and guide you through the process.
Here's how you can reach them:
Please refer to this article for additional details: Contact QuickBooks Desktop Support.

You can signup for a separate Melio account to pay your bills as a workaround. But you can't it to QB Desktop.

anyone know of a good option for QBD ? We currently pay one vendor around 50 invoices at a time. We cannot use the QB bill pay feature because of the ACH invoice limitations .
Thanks for joining the thread, @Nancy111. We appreciate you posting in the Community to seek help with your concern about paying your vendor. Let me share some details about it and a workaround to get the task done.
We can see that having the option to pay one vendor around 50 invoices at a time in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is beneficial to your business. However, it's currently unavailable. As a workaround, you may consider looking for a third-party app at the QuickBooks App Store that allows you pay one vendor around 50 invoices at a time in your QBDT file.
You can also check out these articles for future reference in managing your bills in QBDT:
We'll be around here in the Community if you require additional information on managing your sales and expenses in QuickBooks, @Nancy111. Have a great rest of your day!
You can signup for a separate Melio account for free as a workaround. Each time you want to pay multiple bills to the same vendor in a single payment, you’ll need to toggle on Combine into one. The only downside is the app doesn't sync with QBD.

I have been using the online bill pay with QuickBooks DeskTop through Melio for quite some time. As of 9/22 it is just no longer an option in QuickBooks. I have received no notification or emails. Calling Intuit support has not been at all helpful and in the end they refer me to Melio to either a disconnected phone number or one that no one answers. (I have emailed but received no response.) Am I just out of luck here?
Tried this, support referred me to Melio. One number is disconnected, the second number has an email that does not receive a response.
We us online billpay through quickbooks online...powered by Melio. The last batch of bills I paid in late august were all rejected from several different banks because Melio sent out a batch of bad checks. One, they were sent from Silicon Valley Bank, and two, the account and routing numbers were transposed. I have not yet used them again.....and am very nervous to because I had to request refunds on every check. They withdrew the money from my account but none of my vendors were paid. When will this qbo quickbooks billpay happen so that I can use the billpay feature confidently?
I understand the experience you had with payments not being delivered as intended was unexpected, @scasebolt.
Since this concern must be looked at closely, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Support team. They can look more closely at what may have led to the rejected payments from the banks.
Let me guide you on how:
If you want to know more about how a refund depends on how you record your purchases, you can read and check this article: Enter vendor credits and refunds in QuickBooks Online.
Please let us know if you have further questions regarding your concern. We're always ready to support you.
I have been using Bill Pay by Melio and was never informed of any change. Today I can no longer access the online bill pay. I'm told it was discontinued and I MAY be allowed to sign up for QB Bill Pay sometime in 2024!!!! What is going on!!!
Same here. Would at least have been nice to receive some notice.
