Unable to setup Payment Reminders in QBE Accountant 2020

Followed the directions at https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/manage-invoices/how-to-customize-and-manage-paymen... to try out Payment Reminders. I got as far as setting up the email template but QBooks didn't allow me to save. The error was "QuickBooks couldn't save one or more schedules. Try again." Now at a standstill on using this new feature. Attaching screenshot.

Never could get the chat to initiate once I had filled out the preliminary form, regardless of using a different browser, clearing cache, etc. Change ISP? Are you serious??? I'm done here. Your advertised functionality of setting up payment reminders doesn't work and that's that.

Thanks for providing us a screenshot, @kjssdca.

There are times odd behavior occurs that causes Schedule payment reminders to become unresponsive.

You can try the repair tool to fix the error you’ve encountered. Please ensure to back up your company file so that we'll be able to restore your data if ever we run into problems.

Then follow these steps to start running the repair tool:

  1. Go to the Windows Start menu, then select Control Panel.
  2. Choose Programs and Features, then Uninstall a Program.
  3. Select QuickBooks from the list then click Uninstall/Change.
  4. Hit Continue or Next.
  5. Follow the proceeding prompts until you see Repair.
  6. Follow the on-screen instruction to complete the process.
  7. Click the Finish button, then restart your computer to complete the repair.

Thanks for getting back and letting me know, @kjssdca.

Since the resolution I’ve provided above doesn’t fix your issue, I recommend contacting our Technical Support team.

With the help of their tools, they can check it further and can provide another resolution. They can also determine the root cause of this unexpected behavior. You can check our support hours of operation through this link so you can reach out to them at the time convenient to you: Support hours and types.

Then, you can follow these steps below:

  1. Go to the Help menu at the top.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help F1.
  3. Click Contact Us.

You can find me here if you have other queries or concerns with QuickBooks. Keep safe.

I click on the Contact Us button, but nothing comes up. Somehow, I get a link to:

  • Visit the QuickBooks support site to search in-depth support articles or get help from a QuickBooks support representative.

So I click on that, which opens up a browser window within QBE Desktop. It says "Call us" is closed (it's 11:55 am Pacific time on a weekday), the only option I can click on is "Start a Message," which I have now done twice. Filled out the chat initiation form (twice). When I hit Enter, it brings up a blank web page within the browser that never renders, so it's a dead end.

So - my conclusion is that this highly-touted, much-advertised feature doesn't really work.

Hey there, kjssdca. The Community is here to help.

It sounds like you followed the steps provided by MadelynC perfectly and were able to submit a request to get in touch with an instant messaging chat agent.

I took a thorough look through our active investigations to see if there's any records of other users encountering this same situation. There was nothing current or that had already been resolved relating to a user getting blank web pages which never fully load correctly upon trying to contact Intuit through the Start messaging feature.

Since the Enterprise Accountant Edition you're using opens websites using the Internet Explorer app, I'd recommend beginning troubleshooting steps there. As temporary browsing files accumulate over time, they can sometimes cause issues with certain sites displaying correctly.

To rule out if this is what's behind the problem you're experiencing, you can run IE, clear your cached data and Intuit-specific cookies, then check back in your books by repeating the same Contact Support process as before to see if your results are any different.

If you continue bumping in to the same situation after clearing these items from your computer, I recommend proceeding with our other troubleshooting steps to assure Internet Explorer's settings are configured properly to work with QuickBooks Desktop.

If you have any questions, I'm just a post away. Have a great day!

Did all the troubleshooting steps to reset my IE settings (trying to understand why a financial software would be using the least-secure browser around as it's default in-app browsing solution, but anyways. . .) I'm on a brand-new system, installed and configured in April, so my apps and everything are updated but I double checked anyways. Went back into Quickbooks - same issue: the contact us to chat page doesn't load. It shouldn't be this hard to get support on the product.

Hello there, @kjssdca.

Once you're in, follow the steps above on how to connect with support. I also encourage checking support hours first, to ensure that we address your concerns on time.

I don't get the "QuickBooks couldn't save one or more schedules.  Try again." error if I don't attempt to edit the default text for the subject and body of the email reminder.  Any time I try to create 2 or more reminders for the same mailing list and edit the default text, I get the error message.

Is there a way to change the default text for the email reminder to what we want?  If not, is there another way around this error? We don't need multiple mailing lists, we need multiple reminders at 60, 90, and 120 days past due sent to the same mailing list.

I only get the "QuickBooks couldn't save one or more schedules. Try again." error after clicking the save button when I manually change the subject or body text of the email template.  If I leave the default text, I'm able to create multiple reminders for the same mailing list.

Is there a way to change that default reminder email text in a different location within QuickBooks?  We don't need to create multiple mailing lists, we need the same mailing list with 60, 90, and 120 day reminders.

I am having this same problem with Quickbooks 2020: I receive the error "Quickbooks couldn't save one or more schedules. Try again" each time I try to save a reminder schedule (SEE ATTACHED SCREENSHOT). I upgraded to this Quickbooks version in March specifically for the convenience of automated past due reminders, and now I can't send ANY reminders. At least my old Quickbooks had the capability to send reminders manually. I have contacted technical support and they sent me info on verifying and repairing my company file by rebuilding the database and also running the File Doctor utility. Both utilities report no problems. There appears to be an issue with this version of Quickbooks, but I am not willing to pay tech support any money to sort it out. You folks need to re-think how you treat loyal customers. Please pass our unhappiness on to your management.

Hello there, Rene9. I appreciate you for joining here.

If you haven't tried following the recommendation shared by my colleague MadelynC, I'd suggest giving it a try. When repairing your tool, it helps you fix the error you're receiving. You can follow the same steps provided in this article: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.

If it persists, this is something that we'll need to investigate further. Let's use this link as an alternative way of connecting with our specialist. Once you get there, select QuickBooks Desktop and follow the instructions.

Also, you may want to check about fixing any errors you see in QuickBooks Desktop.

Visit again if you have additional questions. Take care always and stay safe.

Issue: Under Payment reminders, when you edit the reminder if won't save.

Solution:

I played with it and when I reduced the size of message, it saved and worked from there.  I do not know the maximum size, just play around with it until you get something that is OK.  I did not realize that it actually sent out the invoice, so I had put more information in the body than I really needed.

Blessings!  Margo

Unable to setup Payment Reminders in QBE Accountant 2020

Hi Dhrvatin,

I am almost two years later to this post but your response there helped me figure out how to save custom fields and different than default text in my payment reminders. I too was getting a few different errors when I had gone in to try to change my wording on the payment reminders.

SOLUTION: I copied all my reminders out to an electronic notepad to reference (not really needed if you can just type up and insert what you need). Then I deleted all my payment days and email list (again it might not be needed, this is just what I did). Then I created a new email list, 4 new payment reminder dates and left the default message in all of them, only thing I did was put my timeframe (1, 2, 7, 21 days). Then I saved and it saved (I was checking to see if it would be accepted).

Here's probably the most IMPORTANT step for me. I only edited a couple lines at the most in only one of the payment reminders at a time. Then I would save and the changes would be accepted. I would open and go back into the same one and change a couple more lines and then save and reopen until the payment reminder was worded exactly how I wanted. (Yes, it took some time to get them all changed and set up).

Hope this helps.

Hey Rachel - FLdoors,

Thank you for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community! Let's go ahead and Quick Fix your company file to see if this can resolve the issue. Please download the QuickBooks Desktop Tool hub if you haven't already:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. We recommend you download the most recent version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the installation finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

From there, go to the Company setting within the Tool Hub and choose Quick Fix my file. Once that is completed, go back and try those email reminders.

Let me know how that goes and if you were able to get through! I will be on the lookout if you need additional information. See you soon.
