The actual check for a check voucher printed from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) remains at the top. One customization option available for a check voucher is to include account names. Here's how:

1. Go to the Edit menu, then select Preferences.
2. Click Checking, then move to the Company Preferences tab.
3. Tap Print account names on voucher, then hit OK.

I want to know why your sales reps LIE to you that you ABSOLUTLY can change the check templates just to get a dang sale. I have purchased two different versions of quickbooks in less than 30 days because of this being told I could but then saying no you can't. Your customer service people just like to stop talking all together when they have no clue what the heck they are doing. I purchased the desktop version because "YES you can edit the checks template." Yeah no YOU CAN'T.

It appears that the ability to print the check in the middle position has NOT been fixed, despite years of responses that Quickbooks programmers have been notified of the demand for this feature.  There was obviously no intent to even consider doing this minor modification to the program, but only the intent to mollify upset users in the moment.

I guess you get what you pay for.  If you purchase a low-end, minimal feature accounting program, you end up with a low-end, minimal feature accounting program (& programmers).  It's amazing to me that the same company, Intuit, who sells TurboTax, a top of the line tax preparation program, also sells QuickBooks, a bottom of the line accounting program.  Whoever manages the TurboTax software development needs to get a big raise and be placed as the executive over both developer groups.  

Mynew checks are different from the old ones.  How do I move the printing to the [roper places?

And four plus years later: crickets.

Stop telling your customers that you are listening to their needs

This is not a printer issue.  I see at least 2 years of "I will bring this to the team" and yet still no solution.  Sage will easily allow you to move each individual line for perfect alignment.  This shouldn't be difficult for your team to figure out.  Come on!

This is a racket.  QBO did not disclose at the point of sale that I would need QB compatible checks. I just bought new checks for business and was told they would not work.  The only solution was to purchase checks from them.

I am so angy about this.  If I could jump ship today I would. 

Were you able to find a way to have your checks work with Positive Pay's guidelines? We just started using it and they're telling me my payee line needs moving up slightly.

Let me guide you on how:

1. Go to the File menu, then select Printer Setup. 
2. Select the form you want to print from the Form name.
3. Select Continuous (Perforated Edge) from the Printer type.
4. Select Align, and then choose a template for us and select OK.
5. Select Fine, then OK to print a sample form.
6. Check the alignment grid QuickBooks prints on the sample. Estimate how far to move the text.
7. In the Vertical and Horizontal fields, enter a number to specify how much and in what direction to move the printed text on the form.
8. Select Print Sample to test the form alignment.

Quickbooks, have you fixed this issue? I called about four weeks ago (December 2022)  about this very issue - I am new quickbooks online user, and the representative told me it was an issue that quickbooks was working on. Sounds like quickbooks has had this problem for years and never fixed it???? That is very disappointing.

There are so many things I am hating about the QB online. Nothing is simple to find, print or export. My invoice templates do not look like they once did when I was using the desktop version. I hate the writing checks as well. I use to be able (on the desktop version) to write a check but FIRST add the amount of the check and then go to the bottom and separate it out to different accounts. If my line totals on the bottom didn't match the total I put in the TOTAL amount it wouldn't let me print. Now it puts a total when I have separated out "bottom" lines. If i skipped a line its not going to say its off because whatever the lines add up to is what the check is written for! I hate this. Please bring back the desktop version of QB. 

Come on QB.  This is an easy fix and all your competition allows multiple check design and printing on blank check stock.  It is just another way to nickel and dime customers to require we order overpriced checks from you.

I want to continue using QuickBooks Wallet checks with my, NEW to me, Online QuickBooks program. We upgraded to use the latest ONLINE version of QuickBooks, but so far am not able to find how to select the style of print option to match the QuickBooks Wallet style checks WITH stub. It looks like this Online program only allows 2 styles of checks to print on & neither match my wallet with stub style of checks that we already own.

Is there a way in the QuickBooks Online program to select the 3 on a page Wallet with stub check format (https://intuitmarket.intuit.com/checks/wallet-checks), that QuickBooks sells, to print using my online 2023 QuickBooks program?

I can see the importance of having the option to add the three checks style, and I understand how this would be helpful to select a check depending on the check transaction you have.

Upon carefully checking my resources, I found out that you're right, that there are only two check styles in QBO. I'd recommend sending a feature request to our Product Development Team. This way, they'll see your suggestion and consider adding it for future program updates.

To get you going, I'll write down the steps below.

1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
2. On the top right corner, click the Gear icon.
3. Below the Profile column, select Send Feedback.
4. Enter a brief description of your feature request.
5. Once you're ready, press Send.

You have been "escalating" this to your "Product Development Team" for nearly a decade.

We don't beleive the company line and know that you don't truly care about your end user's needs.

Please stop spewing. This is nothing but a way to make a user buy your check.

Kind of like how the HP printer is inexpensive and the ink is stoopid money.

And as I have stated before: This inability to not accept Harlan check styles is like MS Word not recognizing Avery label products.

Intuit is depending on the ignorance of their average user to leverage their unwillingness to allow alternative check formats.  Guys & gals, you can buy all the conforming check stock you want from online vendors at MUCH less cost than what Intuit charges.

I have recommended QB Desktop Enterprise to a client.  This switch from Peachtree is costing more and no they have to buy new checks.  I would be very helpful if I could edit the check template.  Please work on fixing this issue in your program.  Thank yo.

They tried to say it's because I am not using Intuit checks.  Bull crap!  It doesn't make a difference what paper you use.  If I print on plain white paper or check stock.  The words print in exactly the same place on the paper on either one.  The sample payroll alignment layout is nothing like a payroll check that actually prints. 

My bank printed the check to match what QBO printed for vendor/expenses.  The computer and the software does not know what paper you are printing on.  If they tell you that, then they are idiots!  The other thing is that since they don't sell "payroll" checks anymore (only dual use voucher) then the template that QBO prints to should be the same for both.  The alignment template shows the pay to, amount line, and the name/address all align differently on the left.  When you print the actual check, the all align straight in line together, and the line spacing on the name/address is farther apart and runs it into the memo line.

So I agree that they need to allow us to adjust our own check templates.  This also goes for complete control of invoice and other form templates like we had/have in QB Desktop.  Makes me want to go back to it AGAIN!

Can someone please start burning up the phones with complaints to the developers to get something done and maybe give us back some control over our own templates????

I want to use "blank checks" for the print check function.  I have found where I can enter the payor name, address, etc. however an Alignment Grid appears on the template where the amount of the check appears..  I do not want to change the position of the amount, I just want to printout the check with the payor information.  I can print it out, but the grid is included.  How do I get rid of the Grid in the template?  Atttempted to send an image but this conversation box will not accept a jpeg.

If you meant payee the person you want to write a check to this might work for you:

You can go directly to the "Write Checks" function under "Banking"

Choose the payee, you will be stuck with a date on the check, assign a modified check number by adding a letter or a high number so you can enter the actual check when it is time, or delete or void what you used to print it afterwards. Just remove all numbers, including "0.00" from the amount box and print.
