How do I customize reports in QB Online or generate my own? I am looking for an employee report with DOB. How do I generate that?
Good morning, @nicola_apap209.
Thanks for reaching out to the Community.
Customizing reports in QuickBooks Online is easy as 1,2,3. I've included the steps below to run an employee list report that contains the employees' date of birth.
1. Open the Reports menu from the left pane.
2. Enter Employee in the search box. Then, click on Employee Contact List.
3. To customize the report, select Customize in the right corner.
4. Under Rows/Columns hit Change columns.
5. Scroll down and select Date of Birth. You can also choose anything else on the list you'd like to include on the report.
6. Hit Run report to view the report.
That's all there is to it. Now your report will show the employees' date of birth as it shows in my screenshot below.

Unfortunately , Employee contact list is not even an option when I search
Hi there, @nicola_apap209.
Some reports are available for all QuickBooks Online (QBO) users, and some are only present for certain subscription levels. In this case, the Employee Contact List report is only available for QBO Plus and Advanced versions. You can't pull up this report if you're using QBO Simple Start or Essentials.
To know more, see this article: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.
However, if you're using a Plus and Advanced version but still can't find the Employee Contact List report, let's perform some steps to resolve your problem.
Here's how:
If the issue persists after the troubleshooting steps above, here's the other way you can use to pull up this report:
Additionally, you might want to check out this article to guide you to set up, add, or edit an employee in QBO: Update employee profile. You'll also learn details you need to have before adding new employees, set up and assign work locations, create a new hire report, etc.
You can always get back to me if there's anything else that you need help with. Just leave a reply below and I'll surely help you through it. Take care always.
I currently have QB online plus but these reports are not coming up
I have cleared the cache and tried multiple browsers
I appreciate all your efforts in performing the troubleshooting steps, nicola_apap209.
Clearing the cache is a good start in isolating the issue because it deletes all the accumulated junk files in your system. Since you're still unable to view the report, I'd recommend getting in touch with our technical supports. This way, we'll be able to look into your account and perform a series of tests to rectify the underlying issue.

I encourage checking our support hours first to ensure that address your concerns on time.
In the meantime, you'll want to follow the steps provided by my colleague, DivinaMercy_N. By changing the URL of the Customer Contact List report, we'll be able to directly access your Employee Contact List report. Take a look at my screenshot below:
Once done, please follow the steps given by Tori B to show the birth date of your employees. You may also memorize this report to save its current customization settings.

Shame on you! It's really unfortunate that functionality in REPORTING depends on what a business owner is willing or able to pay. Why charge someone for something in a higher package that they don't need and shouldn't have to pay for? New hire reporting is required but because they don't need the classing or inventory abilities of "Plus", they're being punished for going with "Essentials" and not paying for something they don't need and getting sub-standard reporting abilities. But Essential to you obviously doesn't mean the same to you as it does a business owner. Accurate reporting is an Essential as a business owner, but to you, it's just the ability to run a report that has to be exported and rebuilt to get the data in a useable format. Where is the time and cost savings in that? Same goes for premium and elite payroll. Most businesses that could benefit the most from those packages are forced to pay for services they don't need and go with core, because that's what they can afford as a small business owner.
You have to pay a small fortune and upgrade to something you don't need to get a usable report.
