We always ensure we can provide the best feature when managing invoices, james.
We can easily switch to the old invoice layout in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Perform the steps below:
Please know that switching to different invoice styles in QBO is available to selected users only. If you don't have the switch to the old invoice layout option, we recommend submitting feedback. Your feedback will help us improve your experience with QBO and will be shared with our Product Development Team.

Same question. New invoice layout dose not work for my requirements. want to go back to old layout and tried following previous recommendations and my invoice dose not contain button to go back to old layout. not happy
I'm having the exact same issue - the new invoicing doesn't work for me, takes additional steps that are unnecessary for me and gives me errors that don't make any sense. I have no button to go back to the original invoice style. Also not happy.
Fix this NOW. I too don't have the "button"
The Community is here to make your experience better, @cn11.
I understand the new layout in may take some adjustment. The option to switch back to the old layout may not be available as we've rolled out this new invoice experience. I suggest providing feedback on your experience directly to the Product Development team. Their goal is continuous improvement based on user input. This will help ensure future updates better meet the needs of all users.

This new roll out seems to be standard fare for companies now. The new template doesn't allow for progress invoicing on an estimate. That at best is incompetent. How do you expect users to take this kind of "update" seriously when it hampers doing business? How do I handle progress invoicing now? This never should have been rolled out if it didn't include the same features that made the old way useful.
Having the same issue, I need to use progress invoicing and I do not have the button to switch back to the old invoices. I have also left "feedback" as recommended.
WHERE IS THE PACKING SLIP PRINT BUTTON? WHY DOES THIS LOOK LIKE A CHILD MADE THE INVOICE LAYOUT? WHY DO YOU FORCE THESE CHANGES UPON YOUR CUSTOMERS? HOW COME MY CUSTOMER'S Q/B DOES NOT HAVE THIS NEW INVOICING LAYOUT?
Allow me to shed some light on why this is happening, @STOP CHANGING STUFF.
Our engineering team is currently investigating the issue of being unable to see the print button for packing slips in the new invoicing layout. Rest assured that our team is working to resolve this problem at the moment.
We don't have a specific time frame for when this issue will be resolved. However, I suggest reaching out to our online support so they can include you as one of the affected users. This way, you'll receive email updates once the issue has been resolved.

FIX....THIS NEW LAYOUT IS AWFUL. I DON'T WANT BACK END FEATURES ON THE FRONT END. THIS NEW INTERFACE DOESN'T FLOW WITH ANY OF THE OTHER SYSTEMS IN QBO.
Please go back to the old layout. New layout is so unnecessary. These are back end features...we do not need them in the front end interface. Terrible terrible. I do not have a button to go to old layout either.
I spent some time on the online support chat today and was told
"Upon checking here on our end, if you do not have an option to switch back to the old layout for invoice. You need to use the new layout."
"For the layout for the Invoice, we are now using the new layout and we suggest to our clients to leave a feedback on QuickBooks."
"I truly apologized for that. But that this the new update that we have here on Quickbooks."
which is not a solution. between this issue and over 2 weeks of Novo bank not linking, I'm ready to start looking for a new service where the core features I pay for actually work.
I am not able to change the shipping address on the new invoice unless I edit the company information
which saves it that way for the next invoice. I need to be able to change the shipping address on my invoice. The address is different every time for the same customer.
Same issue here.
The new layout is awful.
Allow users to switch layouts immediately or we will be finding a different service.
Hi Flowers3693 and James,
I understand your frustration with not being able to change the shipping address on the new invoice without editing the company information. It can be inconvenient to have to update the address each time and not have it saved for future invoices.
While switching to the old interface is not available, I recommend sending feedback to our product engineers. This way, they can consider making changes in future updates.
If you have other questions in mind, feel free to go back to this thread, Take care and have goof one!
I was able to switch back to the old layout. When you open up a new invoice there is an Old Layout button on the upper right corner of the screen. It was not there this morning. When you click on it it gives you a warning that you can switch back but you will have to update to the new layout at some point. I'm so happy to see my old invoice template back!
thank you for posting! I went to check and was automatically switched back to the old invoicing, had to go turn Progress Invoicing on manually, but it's finally working again!
Leave the old format alone. Tell your team they are ruining the workflow with this udpate. It is unnecessary.
I was also able to switch back and leave feedback again, but it does say that eventually we will need to go to the new format.
The next time they "force" me into this new format, will be the last day I employ QBO and all of the ancillary services. Mass exodus of long-time customers in their future.
I'm with you. For the price of quickbooks online, you can get an entire CRM that's decent and also.does accounting. I've held off on the switch due to sticking with what's already routine. Since new routines are in order, there's no better time than now.
Is Quickbooks willing to commit to not forcing customer to migrate to the "new version" of invoicing? I need to know this as if I'm not able to use the "classic version" moving forward, I'll be forced to leave all QBO products.
Please advise.
Does everyone who is still able to switch back to the old version realize that as of monday you will be automatically switched over to the new version? I don't think quickbooks understands that this new version is not workable for a huge amount of us. People have documented a few of the flaws on here, but there are many more. The main issue is that you cannot customize an invoice template, it sees all the templates as "old templates" so you are stuck with the default template. In this template:
- You cannot edit the shipping field
- No field for SHIP VIA
- No field for TRACKING NUMBER
- You cannot edit / hide many of the fields
- When you print a packing slip it removes your logo and makes the font tiny
I could go on but these are a few right off the bat. I wish we could get some help with this, a lot of us will be forced to a different platform.
It looks like that day has come. We can no longer switch back to the old layout and the new layout is unusable. Looking at switching services now
