I can help you get around with this, Crystalricotta.

While adding tips is only available to Sales Receipts, I'll share a workaround with you. You'll have to create a service item and add it to your invoice.

First, here's how to create a service item:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Products and Services.
  3. Click New, then select Service.
  4. Fill in the necessary fields, then click Save and close.

Then, when you create the invoice, add the service item, then email it to your customers.

If you have more questions, we'll be right here to answer them.

Here's a sample showing how common this tip feature is online.

Thanks for coming back and providing us a screenshot about the tip feature, crystalricotta.

The option to add a gratuity/tip when emailing an invoice is unavailable. However, there are two workarounds that you may consider. The first option is to add a separate service item for tips on the invoice.

Here's how:

  1. Click the + New button.
  2. Select Invoice under Customers.
  3. Choose a customer name and enter the necessary information.
  4. Under Product/Service, tick the  +Add new option.
  5. Select Service and name the service as Tip.
  6. Tap Undistributed Tips under the Income account.
  7. Click Save and close.
  8. Once done, select Tip and enter the Amount.
  9. Press Save and send.

Another way is to turn on the Tip (Gratuity) option in the sales receipts. Just refer to this article for the steps and details: Add tips to sales receipts

You can also share your share tips or gratuities with your employees. For more details, refer to Share tips with your team article.

Wow, this is frustrating. It's like you are an AI computer serving up the same reply for every inquiry. Can you please talk to your developers and give us a real answer with a timeframe when we can expect to see this. Thank you.

Hello QB – Can you please give us a timeframe for addressing this request ? Looks like this request for adding one line to the email invoices so customers can +add a tip or gratuity has been in the queue for 3 years. So far I only hear the same exact so called work-around reply from QB reps that doesn't solve the issue.

Do you understand why the workarounds you are suggesting do not actually work for my business or other service professionals. I am a website developer/graphic designer. I email my invoices to clients and they pay them online. There's no pre discussion where I say "Hey, ya know I created this service item on my invoice. How much you wanna tip me?" Okay, do you get it now – I do not use sales receipts.Look forward to hearing a reply that will actually solve the problem. Thank you.

These two "workarounds" have been presented by support only to be explained by the userbase to be impractical way too many times. The QB support are starting to sound like bots. Come on QB! It's not that hard to earn customer loyalty. Just talk to us like you took the time to understand the problem. Just reassure us that the feature is forthcoming. At the very least, please explain why this essential feature has been denied to your paying customers for nearly 3 years now.

Thanks for joining this conversation, @PlanMan.

As mentioned by my colleagues above, the ability to add tips is currently available in Sales Receipts. Our Product Developers are still working to have this option for email invoices.

While we don't have an exact time frame as to when this will be available, I recommend visiting our Blog site. This is where we share recent happenings and future developments, such as updates to newly added features. Here's the link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/blog/.
