JasroV - I find it extremely interesting that I can proceed using tx1099 to file my tax forms.
Hi @lisayjones
This sounds like there may be a hang up in the mapping. I have a suggestion.
Follow these steps:
Once done, go back to the 1099-NEC account mapping. You should now be able to change the Apply payments to this 1099 box drop-down.
This should get the data to populate correctly.
I know you've spent a lot of time on this and I want to make sure we can get it squared away. Let me know how it goes.
It is not working...TINs are printing in Recipient's names boxes
Hello, djamai.
You're able to print the 1099 NEC 3 part and just the TIN are printing in the Recipient's name, right? If so, this works as designed when you print a copy B for 1099. The TIN will appear on that box.
As a workaround, you can prepare a pre-printed 1099 form and manually enter the information. Just make sure all the details in each box are correct.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm more than happy to help. Have a good day!
After almost a full day, I finally printed my 4 1099-NEC forms and the 1096. Thank you for your help. I do NOT recommend QuickBooks after this colossal failure!
I cannot get QuickBooks to print the 3 per page 1099 NEC in QuickBooks. I have read all the troubleshooting and nothing is working. I have updated and made sure I am in 2021 and not luck. I have done all the updating and shutting off the computer and restarting and still it prints as a two per pager and not a 3 per page. So it is way off and no alignment will work for it either.

Hi there, Mariachen2021.
Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I'll be sharing details on how printing a 1099 form works with the new updates. Then, ensure you'll be able to use and accommodate three forms on a page.
QuickBooks has a time-saving feature to help you prepare your 1099s from the info you already have in your accounts. When preparing 1099 forms, if you choose not to e-file with Intuit, you'll want to print out copies to mail and complete your filing with the IRS, plus print and send a copy to each of your contractors. Intuit offers 1099 Forms (two per sheet) with a size of 8 1/2" x 11" and compatible double-window envelopes of 5 5/8" x 8 3/4". However, with the new tax year 2021, form 1099-NEC was resized, and the height of the form was reduced to accommodate three forms on a page. That said, QuickBooks is already updated to print 1099's three to a page instead of two to a page.
Since it has been a month and your QuickBooks Dekstop has still generated 2 copies per page, I recommend updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release to keep your software up-to-date so you always have the latest features and fixes. Then, you'll have to make sure that you updated the tax table so the form will flow in your account.
If the issue persists, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support Team. They have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment which we're unable to do it here in the Community. That way, they'll be able to investigate the cause of the problem.

I have been through this and updating stalls and will not complete. It is impossible to download the necessary patches from anywhere but from inside Quickbooks. I spent 2 hours on phone attempting to get past the 70% stall point on Pro2022 and so am trying to produce forms in my other companies which are still on Pro 2021 but the update procedure stalls on Critical Fixes at a mere 20%. I have uninstalled the program, reinstalled, attempted updates again, still no success. I would think that the latest and freshest download of 2021 would include all patches and not require updating after install.
This is not the impression we want you to experience. Let me help you print 3 per page for 1099 forms, MWright5.
I appreciate you for performing the recommended troubleshooting steps to get this resolved. If you're using 2018 or earlier an upgrade will be required. Then, update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release to keep your software up-to-date with the appropriate critical fixes. Here are the releases required to print 1099 forms in QuickBooks Desktop for Windows:
Then, follow the steps below to get these critical fixes:
When the update is finished, close and reopen the software and open the company file you're working with. Then tap Yes to install the updates and restart your computer. Once the latest release is available, here's a guide on how to print your 1099s and provide copies to your contractors: Print your 1099 forms. If the same thing happens, follow other troubleshooting solutions in this link: Print 3-part 1099s in QuickBooks Desktop.

Your solution does not work
Still only getting 2 to a page! HELP!!!!!!
@RCV what you are not understanding is that updates are not working. Critical fixes stall before completely downloading.
Intuit isn’t going to fix this in time to meet Monday’s (1/31)deadline. Go online to Adam’s a Tax Helper and purchase their software (less than $20). You will have to data enter the Payer and Recipient information but at least you can print the forms then. Doable if you don’t have hundreds to produce.
You can also hand-print them!
I was able to make it print 3 part 1099NECs in version 2021 by resetting the update. When you are on the page to do updates and the tab you pick is "update now" , at the bottom just to the left of "get updates", there is a key that says "reset update" . Press that key and then press "update now" and it will reinstall all of your updates. Then when it's done, close the program (I may have restarted my computer as well) and when you open it all back up it should work. You'll have your first clue when you're going through the wizard and it says the 1099s are due 1/31/22 now instead of 2/1/22 like it was saying. It worked for me so I hope it works for all of you as well. Good luck
Thanks, Wendy
I rolled it back last night and it worked. I really appreciate it.
If you already downloaded to the latest release in the 2021 version and it still doesn't work, try the following:

I purchased and downloaded Pro Plus 2022 today and then followed all the steps outlined here and I still can't print 1099 NEC's correctly.
I have done this multiple times and it is posting them to MISC Box 15: State tax withheld and I am not able to change it.
Thank you so much for the great suggestion! I use 2019 Desktop Pro Plus and when I followed your rollback instructions, it worked. I did have to close QB and reboot my computer. When I booted back up, I was able to print the 3 part NEC forms with no issue at all, just a slight alignment adjustment is all I needed. I can't thank you enough for your help!
This worked for me for QB Desktop Pro Plus 2019! Thank you for saving the day! I appreciate your help!
"When it's done"
That is my problem, update never finishes. Without being able to complete the update I am stuck at R8_51 in Pro 2021. I have even downloaded and run the webpatch, multiple times. I cannot "roll back" the updates.
I even tried downloading and installing a fresh install on a computer that never had quickbooks on it - ever. No matter how many times I attempt to update it I am at the same stumbling point. My plan was to get a completely updated version on that computer and then move it to the computer I use, but alas, no joy in mudville.
Why can't QB provide a fresh copy of the program with all updates already installed?
