Change a lot number

Our warehouse changed lot numbers on some inventory. How do I change a specific lot number in QB Enterprise? Seems like it should be easy, but I can't figure it out.

Change a lot number

Hello there, @dtretton.

It's nice to see you here in the Community. Let me walk you through changing lot numbers for inventory in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.

To change or assign lot numbers to an existing inventory, you'll be using the Adjust Quantity/Value on Hand window. Here's how:

1. Open your QuickBooks company file.
2. Go to Inventory menu at the top, then pick Adjust Quantity/Value on Hand.
3. Click the Adjustment Type drop-down, then select Lot Number.
4. On the Item field, enter the item name or click the drop-down arrow and select it from the list.
5. Enter the new lot number, then on the New Count column, enter the number of items in that lot.
6. Select Save & Close.

Please see the sample screenshot below.

Once done, you can run the Lot Numbers in Stock report by going to the Reports menu then selecting Inventory to confirm the accuracy of your entries. For your reference, you may check out this article for further guidance and scroll down to assign serial/lot numbers to existing inventory: Use Serial or Lot Numbers.

That's it! Please let me know how it goes or if I can be of additional assistance. I'd be glad to answer should you have any follow-up questions. Take care and have a good one.

Change a lot number

Thank you!
I noticed that this left me with 2 lots (both old and new numbers, same inventory in each), so I entered a second line item bringing the original lot down to 0.

Appreciate the quick response!

  4. Agree to the Software License Agreement, then select Next.
  5. Enter your License and Product numbers, then select Next.
  6. Select the type of installation for the computer.
  7. Select where you will be using QuickBooks.

Thanks for joining us here, SHAHBAZ650.

There's an option in QuickBooks to transfer items from one site to another. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Inventory menu, then select Transfer Inventory.
  2. Provide all required information including Date, Reference No., Class, Transfer from, and To
  3. Look for the items under the Item column.
  4. Enter all other details including the quantity of items to transfer.
  5. You might also want to indicate a short reason of the transfer in the Memo field.
  6. Select Save & Close.

Once done, follow the steps in the first reply of this thread to change lot numbers. Let me also share this article with you for additional reference: Multiple Inventory Sites.
